It might make the hardcore gamer in us cringe at its mainstream appeal, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. [Feb 2008, p.85]
  2. It's totally devoid of game modes other than the core team-based play, so forget about it unless you plan to play with a group of friends fairly regularly. If you do, then this party game offers enough new ideas that aren't seen in every other family Wii title to make it worth adding to your collection.
  3. This is a fun family game that’s burdened with some unfortunate technical issues. Beyond that, Kabookii’s only flaw is that it’s essentially a digital board game at video-game prices.
  4. The biggest head-scratcher about Cranium: Kabookii is why would you buy it for the Wii, when all interactions are restricted to what you can do with a Wiimote. Instead, why not get the board game, which is much cheaper and allows you to draw with a pen and paper and mold with clay?
  5. You absolutely need at least four people to play this game, which means it’s useless if you don’t have friends around.
  6. Cranium Kabookii is fun for a time, but only if you've got a large group of people or big family to play it with. That makes it a good rental game, but not much else.

Cranium Kabookii is definitely a fun little product for Wii, with lots of variety involved and clever puzzles. Sadly there are a few niggles that prevent this from being a must-buy, especially given how the board game itself is a much cheaper alternative.

Cranium Kabookii is a good idea taken down by some questionable execution and the eventual realization that not only is the board game a better value, but it's just more fun.
  9. As a video game, Cranium Kabookii offers an experience that can't even match that of its low-tech predecessor. The poor control and repetitive gameplay coupled with the underwhelming graphics and sound make for an experience that's better left off of the video game console and back on to your family's dining-room table.

Some of the games are a little unresponsive which is annoying such as the acting/miming one it tells you to act something on the screen with your wii remote ie. hammering, but it doesn't always respond which leaves you whacking it so hard you injure yourself! But the games are light hearted fun! Full Review »

The instructions need to be more clear. I cannot complain to much since I bought it used for 6 bucks. I can honestly say it is worth that much. I would have been very upset had I bought this brand new in the store. We would have had more fun if it had come with the instruction book ( but I've read that it's not much help.) and the glasses. we improvised and picked something to draw, told the other team, then drew it. We'll find glasses eventually, or we will make some. Full Review »

Naturally the decoder glasses were missing from the rental rendering the game virtually unplayable. Eventually we found a red plastic wineglass that did the trick. Handy if you like hte game and lose yours, but the controls are silly, it's slow to load and is much better in its original incarnation. Full Review »
