After all is said and done Captain America: Super Soldier plays a lot like a watered downed Batman: Arkham Asylum, but with decent Wii controls thrown in.

Captain America: Super Soldier comes as a small, pleasant surprise. Not a masterpiece, mind you, but a clear sign that SEGA wants to improve the quality of its superhero tie-in games on the Nintendo console. The graphics are mediocre, with some PSone-like models and low polycount, but the overall experience is fun and enjoyable.

Captain America: Super Soldier on the Wii isn't as bad as some people claim. While the combat is somewhat repetitive, the upgrades actually help you and the ability to counter attack is useful when surrounded. The graphics aren't anything special, but the gameplay somewhat makes up for it. This is probably one to rent first, but for $40, it's not that bad.

Despite the flaws, Captain America: Super Soldier is actually a decent game.

Captain America: Super Soldier is a fairly decent game with very few flaws, though there's nothing spectacular about it and the environments are pretty much the same throughout.

Captain America: Super Soldier is an enjoyable game, but a limited length and several shortcomings sting where it might have shone.

Super Soldier presents a bland-looking world with a bevy of mechanical problems, but beating down foreign aggressors still delivers patriotic fun.

High Voltage should be commended for intelligently lifting play elements from Arkham Asylum and successfully merging them with a novel shield-throwing mechanic to provide a similar but still entertaining gameplay experience. Truly awful presentation severely hampers the product overall though, creating a title that is enjoyable in the hands but abhorrent to the eyes.
  9. Captain America is similar to the recent Wii Transformers game - it looks like someone was sick on a battlefield and it's too short.

This cut-and-dry fighting will get a bit tedious and boring for some, especially since Captain's moveset barely changes throughout the game, but it's easy to forget how more casual game players will appreciate the simplicity.

The real shame of it all is that Captain America: Super Soldier does many things right. [Aug 2011, p.88]

A mediocre game, not nearly befitting the titular hero. The gameplay amounts to spamming the attack button, making for a boring experience. The fact that Focus Mode is completely busted is terribly disappointing.

The fighting's better than expected, but it's outdated, unimaginative and you'd want to wait for it to be cheaper. [Sept 2011, p.71]

Quite entertaining in the first moments, Captain America fails on the long run, when its undeniable faults come out. The cheap visuals give the fatal blow to a product which should have deserved more care.

A Captain America unworthy release! Disappointing!

Overall, the game's all right. Nothing makes it stand out against Thor or Green Lantern or Transformers or any other of the hundred movie games that came out this year. The game's not bad, it's just not very good.

While the graphics are very cartoony, it has very good shield mechanics and the puzzles are far better than the HD versions. The platforming is too simple and easy though. Only offering a tiny bit of challenge near the latter parts of the game. The main put off is that it's a single player campaign with no challenge modes or any reason to keep playing once finished.

If you're a big fan of Cap, or really enjoyed the movie, you may want to consider this one. At the very least, it's worth a weekend rental. As far as Marvel/Sega movie games go, Captain America has proven itself to be the best on both systems.

While it's different from the HD version, "Super Soldier" on Wii is no crappy port. Despite the extensive move set, using the Wiimote and Nunchuck feels quite natural. While the game design does get a little repetitive, action fans will want to discover every nook and cranny. There are plenty of optional missions, hidden collectibles and challenge maps on every level. I enjoyed the brawling which seems to be inspired by the Batman Arkham games. Overall, I would rate this with a 7.2 out of 10. Full Review »

It tries to combine platforming, 3rd person combat, and Arkam Style Rthym combat with not so steller results. The story line is barely worth mentioning since it is unmemorable and will not keep your attention. The platforming can be fun at times and some of the puzzles are challenging but the combat rips off the system from the Arkam games and it is really a poor imitation of t.The boss fights are ridiculously easy even on hard mode as once again you only rely on one strategy to beat them. The final boss though is really annoying as you have to move through pillars t avoid his laser beams which are hard to do because the lasers have no pattern to them. The game does have some bits of enemy variety but they surround you so often that it would be understandable if you decide to throw the Wii remote on the ground out of frustration. Granted the color scheme does gives a nice atmosphere around the castle and the character animations are actually fluid despite their cartoonish designs. This game might be worth a rental if you are really curious but it is in your best interest to avoid purchasing it. Full Review »
