All ages will get a lot of fun out of [it]. [June 2010, p.88]

On first glance, All-Star Karate looks like it might be right at home on the shelves between Cruis'n and Ninjabread Man. For those willing to persist, however, the game rewards players with fun gameplay and exercise potential, if falling short in areas of presentation and MotionPlus usage.
  3. Creating a worthwhile karate or martial arts sim on the Wii would have been a great idea, but unfortunately, all you can expect from All Star Karate is a bunch of waggling of your hands and shaking of your head.

The story mode is quite long, where you go through a story so boring I stopped reading text boxes after white belt, but you don't play All Star Karate for the story, you wanna be a karate all-star. However the gameplay in this game is so poorly implemented it makes games like Sonic '06 feel full of life and brimming with variety in its gameplay. The game has a lot of levels which sounds nice until you realise there are only five styles of level, do the command shown on screen, do the opposite of the command on screen, randomly flail your arms around to spar for points or to ko your opponent, and of course you can do commands to hit items but only some of the time. Yep that's all it tells you. After replaying these same five levels for ten hours sometimes you get a bonus level where you shake the remote to break a box and that's all. No score, no reward of any kind, also there's a few levels where you hit ninjas with a sword and somehow that's the lamest part of the game. The controls don't work whatsoever and they even require Wii motion plus to make it better yet it still sucks! The voice acting is abysmal! You, the person reading this probably could have done a better job voicing literally any character regardless of your age or sex, or any relation to the character you voice, it's really that bad. The music is okay at times, I didn't want to die when hearing it, and the art style is what you'd expect from third-party shovelware, like ninjabread man or the sort. The only, and I mean only reason this game doesn't score lower for me is because it is so terrible it is kinda funny to watch someone else play, it is kinda the perfect game for when you and a group of friends are drunk and/or high and have nothing better to do. This means nothing towards the game's quality, but it does maybe have a use. Still steer clear of this one, you will want to die. Expand
