    It might not capture the essence of the games it was originally inspired by, but by challenging those very genres and adding ideas of its own, it may well become a focal point in indie development, inspiring developers to create games in a similar vein.

    Thomas Was Alone is somewhat of an incognita as a game. Its magnificent soundtrack and overall audio work will marvel the players but the gameplay mechanics should have been much better executed and its occasional technical flaws don’t help at making the experience more pleasant.

    Easy little performer with a great narrator that keeps things interesting. If you can though, get it on a different platform. The Wii u version at times stutters when a new voice clip starts, which is annoying and at times can kill you. It's playable enough, but it shouldn't happen, especially since a game like this in no way should be taxing for any semi recent console.… Full Review »

I am not ten years old, but I decided to pick it up anyway to see what it's all about. What I found was that the game oozes charm. It is its charm that makes the game what it is. Had it not been present, the game would be completely and utterly boring. The gameplay is simple yet effective, which is great. However, I found it to be much too short, especially compared to many other indie titles available on the eShop, and this really was a killer for me. I understand that the intent is for the younger audience to play it, but even a little bit of experience will get you through the game with little trouble, no matter how old you are. If you're looking for a game that's full of charm and minimalistic visuals, look no further than Thomas Was Alone. But don't expect an amazingly in-depth adventure with bonus material and side quests because you will surely be disappointed.… Full Review »
