    Beautiful, simply beautiful.
    The history of this game is magnificent, I have pc gamer, play 4 among other video game consoles, and I never entertain as much as with the zelda, as this design is made, it is a true work of art, a board does not play it with guides , At the most food guides, or else you miss a little the magic of descrying the mysteries of this work of art.

    This game simply mixes the Hyrulean culture mashing it up in a well drawn and full of details open map giving the player the freedom of adventuring on their own way and writing their own story within the plot line. The game counts with a vast variety of mechanics,
    The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild surely is Nintendo's biggest creation for Wii U. A masterpiece, we must agree.

    This game simply mixes the Hyrulean culture mashing it up in a well drawn and full of details open map giving the player the freedom of adventuring on their own way and writing their own story within the plot line.

    The game counts with a vast variety of mechanics, collectibles, side quests, fauna, flora, weapons, enemies and places to explore that is hard to get tired playing this game even after beating the main quest and exceeding 100 hours of gameplay.

    The soundtrack fits perfectly with the scenario where you're exploring/facing/adventuring and so it must be considered a plus.

    It's important to note that because of Hardware limitations, the draw distance of the details are reduced, and some texture like the one's used on mountains might look low resolution and some times the game might run into several frames drop, but given the magnitude of the game, it's not even worth to take in consideration on the review note.

    Great game, a lot of fun to play. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is an awesome game. There is a lot of new features and the universe and the map are extremely large. This version give us all the power of WiiU. An Epic Game. Negative point: no voice acting for the main character Link.

    The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a great game. Some may even call it the greatest Zelda game of all time or the greatest game of the year. I respect whoever may say that.

    The game opens up and you are on the Great Plateau. Once you get off of the Plateau, you are free to go wherever you want. Do you want to go to Death Mountain? Sure! Do you want to go to Zora's Domain? Sure!
    The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a great game. Some may even call it the greatest Zelda game of all time or the greatest game of the year. I respect whoever may say that.

    The game opens up and you are on the Great Plateau. Once you get off of the Plateau, you are free to go wherever you want. Do you want to go to Death Mountain? Sure! Do you want to go to Zora's Domain? Sure! Do you want to go to Hyrule Castle? You'll likely end up dead but sure! You can go literally anywhere you can see and that opens up so many opportunities to the players.

    Instead of heart pieces, the game gives the player something called shrines. Shrines are like minidungeons scattered across Hyrule. Every shrine gives you a new challenge to complete. Whether it is fighting a killer robot, activating switches, or something else, it is always fun. Once you complete the shrine, you are given an item called a Spirit Orb. Gather four Spirit Orbs and you will be able to trade it into a statue of the goddess, Hylia to gain a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel. A Heart Container increases your maximum health and a Stamina Vessel increases your maximum stamina. Heart Containers can also be found once completing the four Dungeons. This system compared to the old Heart Piece system is much better, as it makes it a bigger challenge to get heart containers.

    Dungeons are very different from the dungeons in the old Zelda games. One thing that is different is that you don't have to do the dungeons in any specific order or even do the dungeons at all if you want to. Another thing is the difficulty. These dungeons are much easier than typical Zelda dungeons. In fact, they barely have any enemies whatsoever apart from a few robots and floating heads. Even the bosses are much easier. Another thing that is different is the set up. You get to explore the entire dungeon as you go through it and once you get the map, you are able to change the dungeon itself at will in order to complete it. You don't make your way to the boss room, you make your way going around to terminals to unlock the boss to fight. There is also no special items or miniboss in these dungeons. I truly do like these changes better because it makes being in the dungeon seem like an exploration.

    Despite the fact this might be an amazing game, the story is absolute crap. The story doesn't have the emotion and beauty as a normal Zelda game. The only emotion I felt in the story was with a character named Mipha. There are also emotional moments having to do with memories but that doesn't actually have to do with the main story. The story also gets repetitive at times when you are at the point where you have to do the four dungeons.

    Hyrule may be big, but it is empty. Outside of towns and stables there isn't much to do besides complete shrines and towers over and over and over again. It gets very repetitive so I wish they gave us more to do out in the wild, like more people to run into, more towns, etc. There is nothing out there. I tend to just hang out by towns because there isn't anything to do anywhere else.

    Those are the main points I wanted to explore, but here is my scores for things in a nutshell:
    Graphics: 8/10 (Very fitting for the style of game)
    Story: 4/10 (Very lacking)
    Voice Acting: 5/10 (Good but very unfitting for Zelda, Mipha, Rhoam, and Impa. Other characters are nice.)
    Characters: 5/10 (Zelda is a near perfect character although the other character needed more. Most barely showed up to do anything throughout the entire game except help out with the dungeons.)
    Gameplay Mechanics: 10/10 (Very innovative)
    Open World: 7/10 (Wonderful but very empty)
    Fun: 7/10 (You will not bore easily)

    In Conclusion:
    Sure! Go buy this game! It is a wonderful addition to the Zelda franchise.

    One of the best gaming experiences of my life. It is hard to describe in words and I can see why some people would feel very salty about not being able to play this game. Masterpiece.

    Only thing that keeps this from being a 10 is the lack of Gamepad integration and the lack of enemy variety. Possibly the best video game I've ever played.

Los nipones pudieron haber creado la experiencia más redonda de toda la saga, pero desperdiciaron una oportunidad de oro y nos entregan una historia cumplidora pero nada espectacular. De hecho y pese a todas las referencias y easter eggs, me atrevo a decir que es uno de los episodios más ambiguos en este apartado. Toda una pena pues el juego cuenta con algunos de los personajes más carismáticos y mejor diseñados de toda la serie (menos Zelda que ni por asomo es tan encantadora como la de Skyward Sword).

    El mayor mérito del juego es sin duda la libertad que ofrece al jugador. Es este terreno Breath of the Wild es impecable. La opción de poder hacer casi lo que queramos desde el principio no tiene parangón alguno en la industria (al menos en un juego de aventura con ambiciones similares a este Zelda), aunque los más nostálgicos de la fórmula Ocarina of Time echarán de menos los artefactos que conseguíamos en cada calabozo. Pese a esta sensación de querer más cachivaches, debo admitir que los que ofrece el juego son útiles en casi toda la aventura, a diferencia de anteriores entregas donde sólo se requerían en momentos específicos. Estas mecánicas incentivan la experimentación y el ingenio del jugador. Al principio, el sistema de armas y escudos que se desgastan y rompen podría molestar a más de uno, no obstante, el sentimiento de urgencia se ve superado por un plano de estrategia y versatilidad al jugar, dada la aleatoriedad y dificultad de algunas situaciones,

    Visualmente es un juego hermoso. A pesar de las limitaciones técnicas de la Wii U, Nintendo hizo valer cada día esperado desde aquel ya lejano anuncio en el E3 2014. Es un producto hecho con mimo como muy pocos en la historia del medio. El diseño artístico es único. Cada paisaje y pueblo es un agasajo. Detalles como la dirección del viento en el pasto, las sombras, los animales, el cambio de clima son elementos que sugieren una inmersión total.

    La jugabilidad de Breath of the Wild es el diamante mejor pulido de la saga. No importa si usas el Pro Controller o la Gamepad, el esquema prácticamente se funde con tu cerebro. Es muy intuitiva y responsiva. No imagino un mejor sistema de control para Link.

    Como mencioné anteriormente, los juegos de 10 ya no existen para mí. Puede que después de tres décadas de videojugador me he vuelto cínico y escéptico. Quizá sea porque mis mejores impresiones en este hobby se quedaron en Super Metroid, Metal Gear Solid y Ocarina of Time y que, aunque el medio se ha pulido con experiencias de excelente manufactura como The Last of Us, Shadow of the Colossus o Xenoblade Chronicles (por mencionar sólo algunos), definitivamente siempre se puede entregar un mejor producto. Zelda: Breath of the Wild no es un juego de 10, pero vaya que se acerca bastante. Totalmente recomendable y quizá el mejor juego de los últimos 5 años.

The detail on the grass is the best I've ever seen in a video game and the gloom effect on the sun is fantastic. The water, even with its simple design looks like I could actually swim in it. And the game is so live! Things are constantly moving, whether its the grass or a bug or an enemy sleeping or traveler, it varies amazingly! The variety of animals is amazing itself! The game constantly contains references to past games, which i'll leave out for spoiler reasons, but if you've played other Zelda games it should come to you. Admittedly, this game is not everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely more of a challenge. I personally enjoy the challenge it gives you, in the past Zelda games were lacking challenge, and this game was actually skill based in combat and had tough enemies. This is also the first game where I felt like Zelda was a character. In the past she was more of an emotionless fill in as a princess you just HAD to safe (except for Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword) but she felt relatable. Especially when you get really deep in the story, you fall in love with her. And the stories absolutely amazing, especially when you collect all the parts of the story. All in all, Breath of the Wild is my favorite Zelda game and favorite game in general, i'm excited to see more of what Nintendo has for us! Expand

    Breath Of The Wild is one the best Zelda games, the open world is beautiful and vast, and there's a lot of things to do to explore it. I don't think this is as good as Ocarina of Time, mainly bacause the story wasn't so great and the dungeons were extremely short.

    i have the wii u version of the game and i loved it, when i started playing the game i was a little scared if it wouldn't live up to the hype but oh boy it did, i few in love with the game and there are so many new mechanics that now i wish were on every zelda game from now on. I showed this game for a friend that never played a Zelda before, now he will buy a switch and Zelda BOTW will bei have the wii u version of the game and i loved it, when i started playing the game i was a little scared if it wouldn't live up to the hype but oh boy it did, i few in love with the game and there are so many new mechanics that now i wish were on every zelda game from now on. I showed this game for a friend that never played a Zelda before, now he will buy a switch and Zelda BOTW will be his first game so... just one tip, go, get it, like right now, cause this game is awesome and became my favorite game instantly.
    PS: the game has some flaws of couse but the game is amazing and still deserves a 10 even with these mistakes

I knocked it two points from a perfect score because I felt like it lacked a good story where previous entries excelled in, the items broke way too easily, and the rain halted any fun I had in exploring the world; I literally had to stop playing the game and sit inside a cave for over ten minutes each instance until the storm passed and it happened alot throughout the game.     I love the independence of this game. You have complete control of where you want to go, and what you want to do. There is no companion saying you should do a certain quest or go to a particular location. The overall open world is truly beautiful, possibly some of the most stunning scenes I've ever seen in a video game.

Не напрягать новичков хитросплетениями лора, давать им и фанатам делать всё, что вздумается и ловко втюхивать и тем, и другим мысль, что тут никому, ничего не навязывают. И игруле это откровенно удаётся с помощью, ну просто безукоризненного геймдизайна. К примеру вот Линк только краем глаза увидел как кто-то валит деревья, и бац! Ты уже сам, как оголтелый, вырубил пол Хайрула, попутно забравшись вон на ту возвышенность, на которой как-будто невзначай тебя ждала очередная пещера с испытанием. Но перед этим, напевая "Долби мой лёд, но не замерзай", замутил горяченького во вроде бы просто удачно расположившемся котле, для того чтобы не замёрзнуть пока будешь забираться на эту Ганонову гору. TLoZ:BoTW - игра механика от которой ожидаешь тошноты уже на первом десятке набежавших часов, но на третьем просто понимаешь, что она не может надоесть, при том, что дорога к титрам открыта уже на старте.

    I got the Wii U version of Breath Of The Wild because I knew I couldn't wait until I got the Nintendo Switch later on in the year. I was overall impressed on how the game handled but it wasn't perfect. There were a few times where the game did lag and that was when I was in combat mostly. Running around the tall grass in this huge world didn't make the game lag, at least I didn't noticeI got the Wii U version of Breath Of The Wild because I knew I couldn't wait until I got the Nintendo Switch later on in the year. I was overall impressed on how the game handled but it wasn't perfect. There were a few times where the game did lag and that was when I was in combat mostly. Running around the tall grass in this huge world didn't make the game lag, at least I didn't notice it. Pop in and pop out also happened but I barley payed attention and didn't ruin the experience for me. I'd say my one complaint I have with the game is a few of it's shrines. I mostly played the game with the pro controller but there were a few shrines that required motion controls to beat it. During these times I had to switch on over to the gamepad so I could beat it, then switch back to using the pro controller once more. I also wish you could manage inventory on the gamepad but sadly you cannot. But these minor complaints, plus some lagging issues, don't ruin the experience of an otherwise great game. I'd talk about the game itself, but I won't waste your time telling you things you already know. If you still don't have a Switch and are one of five people to own a Wii U, this version isn't as bad as you may think. But seriously though, get the Switch, Mario Odyssey is out and you're missing out. Expand

Game also needs more enemies variety and better interactions with peoples in Hyrule. Sidequests are boring and not worth doing in most cases. The plot was somewhat disappointing. But all the other thingsAmazing game, but i can point out a lot of things that i wish will be improved in next Zelda game.     I had never played a Zelda game before when I played this, but I had more pure fun playing this game than almost any other game I have ever played. No other game captures the feeling of adventure quite like this game. I always felt there was something different to try, somewhere new to explore, and some more fun to be had. The music, the world, and the gameplay are all incredible.     As you can see I give this game a 10/10. And this is not a Metacritics 10 to compensate anything... This is a genuine 10 given from a gamer that spent over 90 hours enjoining

    This is a game that made me remember that a good game doesn't need to render in 4k at 60fps to be fun.

    As this game remembered me, a game should entertain you, and this game did it for me. It made me come home wanting to launch the game and explore some more.

    I understand if Zelda fans find missing things or if someone doesn't consider possible for a game to be great of it doesn't look photo-realistic.

    But taking into account that this is a Wii U game (and not a XBox Excorpio tech demo) I find all about it really beautiful and enjoyable.

    I now this is not a real review, but you have thousand of those online.

    In the end I think all you need to know to decide if this game is for you is:

    * It is open world from minute 2. If you don't like that, you still might like this one, but less probably.
    * If you are all graphics, graphincs, graphics, you don't own a Wii U and you are not reading this, so...
    * If you are ready to be challenged to think to solve your issues instead of given a yellow brick road... You'll love this.

    This is a must have for your Wii U library. The last one there will be.

    es un buen juego me gusta que el mundo sea abierto pero siento que no hay mucha recompesa por explarar el mundo ademas las armas se rompen lo cual no tiene nada de malo pero se rompen con 3 usos y realmente detesto cuando llueve no cabie la lluvia el entorno demasiodo solo cuesta mucho ver el panarama y escalar pero es el primer juego de nintedo de este tipo se que pueden mejorar peroes un buen juego me gusta que el mundo sea abierto pero siento que no hay mucha recompesa por explarar el mundo ademas las armas se rompen lo cual no tiene nada de malo pero se rompen con 3 usos y realmente detesto cuando llueve no cabie la lluvia el entorno demasiodo solo cuesta mucho ver el panarama y escalar pero es el primer juego de nintedo de este tipo se que pueden mejorar pero todavia tiene muchos dieños los cuales no tiene mucho sentido.     Having watched numerous, once quintessential series decline in the past decade or two, Legend Of Zelda included, I can't say I was exactly ecstatic when I first saw how this latest installment would play in practice. Too often nowadays can an experienced veteran gamer make some pretty accurate and safe predictions out of given pre-release information or the first few minutes into the game, simply because how often modern titles tend to play it "safe" by rehashing the popular designs. In BotW's case, the term "Ubisoft open-world game", down to the climbable towers and all, was the common slur people hastily used to describe the newcomer title... and at first I thought they were right.

Something that merely LOOKS familiar and same-y on the surface.     I cannot think too many other (mainstream / AAA) games, at least from the past several years, that would strip away all artificial obstacles and walls the same way as BotW. Literally nothing else than your own lack of skill (or sufficient gear) can stop you from waltzing straight from the starting area, to the very final boss, and maybe even defeat it. At no point will the game try to stop you from exploring deadly and exotic areas, for dozens of hours, before tackling some story -missions. And very rarely is the answer to your own "I wonder if this silly plan could work?" a big fat "No!".
    There's simply a ton of things to do in the BotW's ruined Hyrule, and more elaborate, simulated "systems" that not only keep the world feel "living", but that can also be exploited in numerous, even some hilarious ways.

    1) Basic melee combat. Sure you can do some interesting things if you go out of your way but the central melee combat is plain and rather boring.
    2) Straight-forward story. No twists, turns, or hooks. 3) Silent

    This is a great game. It throws you into an open world to explore with very little explanations or guidance, and then you're left to your own accord. There are around 120 shrines in the game, so I've heard, though I have only finished around ten.     Though there are no traditional dungeons that I have found so far, the shrines are a mini-type dungeon which usually involve solving a small puzzle or two, maybe a little combat, then you receive a reward, though I would argue sometimes even getting to a shrine is a puzzle in itself and finding the shrine for a fast travel marker is reward enough.
    I love that I constantly have to scour the wild for new weapons, bows, and ingredients. Cooking is fun and absolutely necessary to keep your hearts up on your sojourn. The few towns that I have visited are full of life, and the people have a lot of different dialog depending on where they are, the weather, what you're holding, etc. Some side quests are only given under certain circumstances. The enemies are smart and difficult, especially if you have poor weapons and armor, which you will in the first few hours of exploring.
    The graphics are glorious, not realistic, but the art style is fun and colorful. animations are cool. The music is great, a little minimalist, but still with emotion and catchy tunes when you open chests, receive new items, enemies abound, the weather changes etc. Subtle and moving.
    I will address all the negative user reviews, and point out that 99% of them have not reviewed any other games, yet give breath of the Wild a zero. Some even say in their review that this game deserves a 7 or 8, yet still give it a zero. My hypothesis is most of the negative reviews are submitted by non-gamers, "fan-boys"(which I despise using that term, more like "imbeciles with blind hatred to an opposing brand name" I will not rant about it) or people who do not want the user ratings of the game to be high, so gave it a zero just to lower the average. This game in my opinion deserves the rating I give it. It brings back a childhood wonder of playing a video game and exploring that I have not felt in over a decade. I am constantly finding new ways to approach things in the game, discovering secrets and shortcuts, and genuinely loving the game. Even my wife, who is not a gamer at all, can't put it down. This game is highly acclaimed by critics for a reason, so take the user reviews with a shaker of salt.

    If I had any gripes it would be the 4 main "dungeons" in the game aren't very unique or memorable. The only thing I would want differently in a sequel is themed, elemental, challenging dungeons and... maybe bring back some music playing?

While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first in its series, I have not played any other Legend of Zelda games other than Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo Wii U. To see the creditsContext: I beat the game, on a Nintendo Switch. I have experience playing open world action-adventure games such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Red Dead Redemption 2. While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first in its series, I have not played any other Legend of Zelda games other than Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo Wii U. To see the credits roll, took me roughly 40 hours, with about 30 deaths.

    In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, obviously, you play as the franchise's heroic Link, battling sinister forces, teaming up with the champions of Hyrule, and reviving a dormant civilization. Breath of the Wild is a gritty, survivalist game that doesn't hold back when it comes to brutalizing players. Breath of the Wild eschews traditional safety nets and spreads heuristic-upsetting risks throughout the player's journey. Link dies if he gets too cold while trekking in snowy regions or too hot while trekking scorching regions. If equipped with a weapon or piece of armour made of metal, Link risks being struck by lightning in a Thunderstorm. He risks drowning or falling to his death if he swims or climbs without taking a break. And, since the entire world is virtually accessible once a player leave the initial area, if he wanders into an area with too-powerful monsters, he's pretty much doomed. Even weapons are transient, crumbling after a few tense battles. When Link's health begins to dwindle, players must forage for scraps before cooking over a campfire.

    This creates one of the most expansive, gratifyingly adaptable playgrounds the medium has ever seen. Players can engage in tactical fights with a plethora of unique monsters. Or take images of the game's flora and animals with a Switch-like in-game tablet, named the Sheikah Slate, then follow audio pings to find whatever you're looking for. The Sheikah Slate provides expands the player's capabilities on all fronts. Bombs for combat, "magnesis," "cryonis," and "stasis" used for boss battles and puzzles, allow Link to tinker with reality itself. Instead of smashing crockery or cutting foliage for hearts (as in previous iterations), players tamper with a fascinating Minecraft-like economy of consumables and raw materials, balancing intuition against danger to concoct either nutritious or unpleasant concoctions and ability-boosting potions.

    This is really what makes Breath of the Wild stick out from other games in the open world genre. The training wheels are removed very early on. For food, should Link find apples from a tree or hunt an animal? Entering a dangerous region, should Link complete missions, save rupees and purchase the right armour or stock up on monster parts and brew elixirs making Link prone to such environmental hazards? To generate stunning or humdrum menu items, mix chemicals in cook pots? Have you been looking for materials to dye your garments in technicolour? Scale massive rune-scrawled skyscrapers to glass zones for possible destinations? Scramble up a cliff to catch a glimpse of a looming rainstorm? Glide over Elysian landscapes in search of hidden ledges and caves? Breath of the Wild urges players to walk off the beaten road and simply explore.

    Link will need to be prepared for everything. The distinction between foes and environment is frequently blurred in the most stylish of ways. For example, a tree toppled by hurling a bomb at a lumbering giant might be utilized by such foe to bash Link unconscious. Combat patterns, which often necessitate Witcher-style economy of mobility and the ability to react to unpredictable, multi-lethal opponents, are similar.

    In the end, most of what propels Breath of Wild to the highest point in the series' history boils down to core Nintendo principles: subverting and tectonically recasting traditional conceptions to create an odyssey that is both intriguing and expansive. But there's a Zelda-like balance to the action that's missing from other open world adventures, a symmetry to its unequal but interwoven elements. The ingenious, puzzle-filled dungeons, the easy-to-grasp, hard-to-master combat system, diverse cast of charming characters, and numinous Japanese Shinto-inspired mythology are all part of the appeal. If you're more in store for an action-adventure, emphasis on action, Breath of the Wild might not be for you. The detailed narrative and constant puzzle solving needed to collect Spirit Orbs and defeat Divine Beasts can put off a player who has an action craze. I also believe that the game being developed for the dead Wii U resulted a Breath of the Wild that is rough on the edges, something that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will resolve.

    This is honestly the best open world game I've ever played, & I've played a ton of open world games. Hands down, this one is the best one ever made. It's like playing through an actual living breathing world where people & animals interact with eachother, animals will graze in the grass, or take a nap, enemies will hunt boars, deer, & capture wild horses. People get pissed off when you wake them from a good sleep! Friggen Elder Scrolls never did that! A lot of games advertise living breathing worlds, but god damnit, this Zelda actually delivers it! People don't do the same daily routine, either! One day, you'll see someone working a field, the next day they'll stay home with their family, or go hunting, or explore some ruins! Not everyone, but a lot of people actually do this! Some even travel the world, just like you are! You will find people constantly traveling around in certain areas. Not everyone, but there's a lot of people who do. People run to try and get out of the rain, etc.

    Enough about that though, the gameplay is where this game is at. The combat system is so well done & satisfying. It's also difficult, not Dark Souls hard, but still decently challenging. Some enemies will one shot you early on, but as you get used to it you will learn the in's & outs of combat & start reflecting lazers back at the death statues that are littered throughout hyrule. And by Death Statues, I mean they will kill you in one hit almost every time.

    From what I gather, there are 4 dungeons total (not counting the hundreds of shrines) known as Divine Beasts. Each one is a mechanical animal that you traverse through & these ones house some very unconventional puzzles unlike any Zelda game before it. Trust me, your mind will bend to think of clever ways to tackle some of these puzzles.

    This game isn't perfect, however. The game is littered with areas that drop FPS, especially in towns or when climbing trees or when it rains in some areas. The game especially lags in towns while it's raining. Luckily, the FPS isn't too bad (drops to around 20) which is still okay for being in a town since you're probably just running around shopping & stuff. None of these frame drops hindered my enjoyment of the game, either. The game is just that good. Also, the weapons tend to degrade a little to quick for my tastes. There's no shortage of extra weapons in the game, though. By the time you start to run low on weapons, you'll usually start to find one or to very decent replacements or even upgrades. The downside is they're gonna keep on breaking. This includes melee weapons, bows, & shields. Armor doesn't break at least & is upgradeable & customizable with dyes at a shop you'll eventually run into in one of the major towns. Also, the motion control segments are god awful & make me want to break my gamepad in half. **** these segments, Nintendo needs to shop forcing motion controls down our ****ing throats. Seriously, they are god awful.

    This game isn't perfect, but gosh darn is it friggin' close to it! Worth buying a Wii U for, that's for sure! If it weren't for the god awful motion control segments, the weapons constantly breaking & the FPS issues, the game would be a 10/10.

    - Bad dungeons: The shrines, which serve as mini dungeons of sorts, are good, but the main dungeons themselves are cramped, not that well designed, and full of handholding with no room to explore and solve puzzles for yourself. Plus all of the bosses are too similar.

    - Not enough enemy variety: Past Zelda games would have dozens of enemy types to shake things up, but Breath of the Wild has barely more than 10, not counting different varieties of the same enemy types. Fighting the same footsoldiers over and over again across the massive world gets very repeptitive, and takes the life out of the otherwise beautiful world.

    - Unbalanced: Once you reach a certain point in Breath of the Wild, the combat becomes a joke, because you have started getting better weapons, but the enemies aren't getting that much stronger, with only a few exceptions. This is one major issue that went unsolved with the nonlinearity.

    - Slowdown: The game has issues with slowdown, especially in towns (moreso in the Wii U version). It was worse at launch, but it still happens a lot nowadays.

    These are the biggest issues that popped out to me. There are other minor ones, but ultimately BotW is still a great game. Unfortunately it has issues that keep it from being a masterpiece.

Since then there have been a lot of Zelda games and I've finished most of them. They've all had excellent elements...but none of them came close to offering the same sense of wanderlust and exploration. Until now. Breath of the Wild is a return to the series roots with the benefit of modern technology and game design...and somehow it manages to feel as revolutionary as the Legend of Zelda did back on the NES despite the prevalence of open world titles.

    Let me be clear. Breath of the Wild is not a perfect game. There are some performance issues, especially in this the Wii U version, and there are some weak points in the storytelling. But, despite that, it still manages to be one of the best games that I've ever played and will set a standard for decades to come. It's an instant classic that demonstrates what Nintendo can do at their best. One of the most fundamental differences between this game and other open world titles is that it's not about conquest. The vast open world isn't there for you to conquer. It's there for you to explore. Most loot is expendable. Enemies reincarnate. But with 120 shrines and 900 seeds to find, there's always something you missed another each corner...even if it's just the scenery. The inclusion of the stamina bar - which I loved in Skyward Sword - makes getting from here to there across the varied terrain a fun challenge rather than a boring march. It put the joy back in travel. It's an open world title that is full of life (many settlements, towns, wanderers, and wildlife). And, unlike most previous Zelda titles, Breath of the Wild goes back to the NES era in regards to difficulty - you'll find little handholding here. It's challenging but in a fun way. The combat reminds me of the Witcher, even fully equipped you need to prepare for most fights and approach them strategically.

    In general, the game ran well on the Wii U. It takes time to load...but performs far better than titles like Lego City Undercover and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (which doesn't make any sense). Compared to Xenoblade Chronicles X, another vast open world title, it manages similarly robust technical performance. There are slowdowns in towns, during particularly complicated fights, and some weather (lighting storms in certain locations) but none of this distracted from the game. I haven't played the Switch version but I've read that the Wii U version has one plus - the shrines load slightly faster, good for you speedrunners out there. My only real gripe is that the Wii U specific functionality was cut from the game. After Windwaker HD and Twilight Princess HD, it took some time to get use to no inventory management or minimap on the gamepad. The game was clearly built with a second screen in mind only to have it removed late in development. A shame to limit Wii U version in such a way.

    In any case, I finally finished the main quest and am enjoying exploring Hyrule. There are still so many secrets, fun locations, and sidequests to discover. I'm looking forward to the DLC and seeing the games that this inspires down the road. This is the Zelda game that I've been wanting since the NES era and I hope that we'll see more in this vein now.

    This is an incredible game, you can play for hours and hours and don't get bored because all the elements are really great: the history, the levels, the characters...everything is marvelous. Undoubtedly one of the best video games ever, and one of my favorites. Certainly, one of the best Zelda ever released until today!

For me, this game is an excellent one, one that any fan of zelda, nintendo, open world games, or just games in general have no excuse of not playing (even for Wii U), but there are some aspects that perhaps could have been more up to par to truly be a masterpiece like some games in this series have been in the past. I really enjoyed this one, and I believe that this is the foundation for the franchise forward (including the voice acting, that while not that good, really didn't angered me at all) and with this in place, for the next one is time to truly combine this new aspects and really go full out, a fully voiced acted game not only cutscenes, a more complex storyline with truly great and complex dungeons and bosses and music in the truly legendary standard that this series is used to.
    PS: What the hell nintendo, Why make Epona a pay up priviledge only if you have the Smash bros link amiibo, that's Capcom levels of greed.

    the fact that the game was originally being developed for this console makes me think that the only reason to not make use of the wii u gamepad is to not make it look better than the switch version.
    also, voice acting being only 1% of the dialogues is a let down.
    besides this, it's a very good game. not perfect but way above the average of recent releases.

Nintendo expertly used many tactics to give incentive for the player to run about for hours upon hours. The music while is not as epic as before, serves it's purpose and fits the tone of the game perfectly. The main quest is mostly the same, but almost every character in this game is likable and worth caring for even if the voice-acting is average at best. There is so much to do in this game and after playing 80 hours, I can say I will easily spend 100 more exploring it's vast open-world and uncovering many secrets. Expand

    There are so many open world RPG in the market right now, but most of their art style are more on realistic, that's make BOTW unique.

    For the gameplay, i think the most remarkable advantage of this game is... there will be 100 different of gaming experience for 100 players. This makes this game very interesting while you discuss your experience with your friend. I don't know how to describe exactly why, but it really work in this way.

    If i have to pick up some disadvantage of this game. I would said this game lack of enemies type, i almost feel there is only bokolins and ancient machine in this game.
    The FPS is not a big deal for me.

    This is my 1st Zelda game, and it really make me become an another Zelda fans.

    In just one month and with a full time Job i managed to put well over 135 hours into this game, I'm not even close to being done with the game and i don't want to be because this game is so so good, I'd recommend it to new/old, casual and hard core gamers alike. Best game of the Year already i believe.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A much-needed change from the standard 3D Zelda formula. Arguably the biggest (pun-intended) change from past installations in the Zelda franchise is the massive open-world map: a veritable playground for the curious and adventurous. Virtually any point you see on the map, you can reach. The stamina wheel from Skyward Sword makes a return, though this time it is upgradeable, and link can climb any surface to any heights he has the stamina to reach, which really opens up the door for exploration in an entirely new way.

    The magic of Breath of the Wild lies in its insistence in letting the player experiment and figure things out on their own, rather than guiding them down a scripted path for them to follow. Wanna go to Hyrule Castle as soon as you're off the Great Plateau? You can! For starters, the entire world map is obfuscated from the player's view at the beginning of their adventure. You reveal portions of the map by climbing watchtowers and surveying the area around you. I know what you're thinking. "Ugh, yet more towers in an open world game!" and I was right there with you the first time I saw one of these giant glowing orange monoliths. Though, where any other open world game would fill your map with mission objectives and icons once you climb the tower, attempting to force some sort of urgency on the player for plot reasons, Breath of the Wild takes a different approach in simply revealing a portion of the map to the player, nothing else. Any sidequests or treasure or points of interested will have to be marked by the player themselves. In this way, the game is excellent at fostering a desire to explore within the player.

    Perhaps the most controversial decision was that to generally eschew the traditional gameplay loop of "explore overworld, complete dungeon, repeat", and it's a decision that I was on the fence about for a long while. Though there are a few traditional "main" dungeons to play through, the majority of your puzzle-solving will be done in shrines, a sort of short-form dungeon with their own respective puzzles. The upside is that any of the shrines or "Dungeons" are able to be played in any order the player chooses, which gives real weight to player choice during the course of the game. You can do as little or as much as you want before taking on the final boss of the game.

    I think this is where the playerbase is split. 3D Zelda games to this point have been (for the most part) aggressively linear and scripted, leaving less room for player experimentation and choice. Traditionally, the story only plays out one way, and you must follow that. While some people are looking for this more focused, linear experience, others are rejoicing at the sheer joyfui experimentation that Breath of the Wild so heartily encourages. And while Breath of the Wild does have its problems, they're so few and far between that any frustration I had felt playing the game was always so quickly replaced with the wonder and joy of discovery.

    TL;DR: If you love setting the own pace of your adventure and freedom of choice (elder scrolls anyone?), there's a good chance you will have a blast with this game, while if you're looking for a more focused, streamlined and directed experience, you might find yourself bored with nothing to do.

And remember to dress appropriately, the weather in Hyrule is the least bit predictable. I recommend you refrain from wearing that plate armor during a thunderstorm. That’s right, physics and logic matter in this Hyrule. Not only do they matter but they coexist in a way that is pure chemistry. A light rain while climbing a sheer mountain face, or even pulling out an explosive arrow next to open fire, mistakes that you wouldn't naturally consider in a Zelda title, now dangers that are all too real for Link.

    The fighting mechanics in Breath of the Wild are exquisite. Each weapon that you’ll find throughout your adventure will have a mortality rate, so swing, slash, shoot, and bash wisely. Original Zelda weapons such as the bow, bombs, and the boomerang, make a much-welcomed reappearance. However, the new functions of these weapons are anything but classic. Bombs come in two separate shapes along with being unlimited. As for the bow, the Switch platform has the option to use the gyration within the controller to help with precise aiming; and the result is a surprisingly accurate and satisfying long range gameplay. Which leads us to the boomerang, I can't get enough of this weapon. Players no longer have the luxury of carelessly throwing their boomerang with the unquestionable certainty of its return. Rewarding and incredibly pleasing to use, it is now the player's responsibility to ensure a clear path of trajectory as well as timing the catch, making the boomerang more of a specialty weapon.

    As soon as the player gets thrown into this new and hostile Hyrule, we are presented with the quest to "Destroy Gannon.". A task that at the time seems to be an impossible one, you, garbed in worn down cloth while wielding a tree branch in place of a sword. The game is about preparation for that climatic moment, and depending on how prepared you are, will be the outcome for the difficulty of the task at hand. Gannon's castle sits almost constantly in your peripheral as the lingering reminder of what's to come.

    Exploration plays a huge role in Breath of the Wild. Scaling any mountain in sight never gets old with the game's precise and consistent climbing mechanics. Finding locations to paraglide in itself is a fun way to spend your time in Hyrule. Between these two features, it's clear that the game developers were confident about players exploring each nook and cranny of this world, in fact, they encouraged it. After a short time of looking around at Hyrule’s magnificently vast and detailed landscapes, you will quickly understand why. Stories are told without words when you stroll upon a sweeping meadow occupied by a terrifying amount of dormant vegetation engulfed Guardians. Frozen in time, they rest peacefully in this graveyard of twisted metal. You may find yourself curiously scavenging for ancient parts from decrepit machines and wondering what could have caused this devastation. It’s moments like this, which make Zelda: Breath of the Wild such a powerful work of art and a delight to play.

    The Zelda franchise is finally capable of being what our imaginations let us believe it was, over 30 years ago. From the controls, all the way to the musical scores, each aspect that comprises this game perfectly compliments the next. For these reasons, it is close to; if not a masterpiece. What captivated me most about this latest Zelda entry was its expectation of my intuitiveness. Never have I played a game that respected my use of logic and reasoning in such a way to make dull moments during playtime, few to nonexistent. Breath of the Wild doesn't attempt to embody an adventure; it offers a template for a journey and leaves the illustration of Link's epic quest to the player. I met an unexpected sense of responsibility after defeating Gannon.     Coming off the bad Skyward Sword, I was a bit skeptical about Breath of the Wild. But it has now been held up as the second coming of christ. I was going to play it anyways because I am a fan but I picked it up opening weekend.
    First impressions were bad. My favorite Zelda is Windwaker because that's still the only Zelda game where Link was a recognizable human other than a hero cliche.

    First impressions were bad. My favorite Zelda is Windwaker because that's still the only Zelda game where Link was a recognizable human other than a hero cliche. Breath of the Wild opens with you coming out of a sacred bath and being told that he is the ultimate hero that is destined to save the world. An overlong tutorial lasts for a whole hour and then the King of Hyrule disguised so obviously as an old man reveals himself.
    Once i got past this and got to explore the world, my impression of the game got better. The world was very enjoyably open and felt epic. The world is so large(By Zelda standards) that its easy to get confused about where you are supposed to go. It took me a full day to realize that getting shrines wasn't the goal of the game. But this revelation actually made me enjoy the game more because I can explore to my hearts content.
    My second to last major issue was with the Divine Beast in the Desert. It drove me to the point where I decided I wasn't going to worry about getting another Divine Beast until I got the Master Sword. I like that you have to get enough hearts to get the Master Sword and finding it was quite fun. But once I got it nothing was a real challenge because the weapon degradation system is frickin terrible.
    My biggest problem though is with the story. Because it's terrible. No character has any real personality. A lot of the side characters have a single quirk that they just repeat over and over again and are generally not funny. Also the world may be gigantic but every revelation amounts to a shrine which was massively disappointing.
    Overall this is still a really good Zelda installment. It isn't the masterpiece that is has been hyped up to be but it's still one of the better Zelda's in recent years.

It isn't bad, but could be a lot better. the music only play sometimes, with a melancholic piano to give us the felling of being alone in the big world. because of this, the game have just a fell memorable musics. again isn't bad, but the franchise had a better soundtracks. about the other topics, the game do everything perfectly right. The same cannot be said of the landscape. While there are many beautiful views in the game, some landscapes look dull up close and do not match the beauty of the rest of the game. Also, frame-rate drops occasionally annoyed me, but outside of the Gerudo region and the Great Hyrule Forest, they rarely were bad enough to impede my enjoyment of the game.

    Sound Design: 9/10

    The soundtrack of this game, which mostly has tracks inspired by Impressionists like Claude Debussy, is beautiful. It matches the underlying emotions rather than the action, it gets an incredible amount of timbres out of piano and percussion, and it makes great use of motifs throughout. The sound effects are perfect for everything, although they often overpower the music. The voice acting is average, but there are two major problems with it. First, Zelda and Mipha sound exactly the same. I'm sure the actresses did the best they could, that was probably a casting problem at Nintendo of America. Second, the voice acting always overpowers the music in some way. This is especially noticeable with Mipha, who has a soft voice THAT IS REALLY LOUD.

    Gameplay: 10/10

    The gameplay is not perfect, for it has the weapon durability system. This has been a love-it-or-hate-it system for most people, but I am sort of in the middle. Yes, it would be better if it worked more like Dark Souls' weapon system, with blacksmiths that can repair your weapons. However, this is only a problem in the early game, where every weapon breaks in ten hits or less. Outside of the weapon durability system, everything is perfect. Every mechanic fits together in an immaculately designed world to give you complete freedom over your surrounding. It is easier to experience the joys of the mechanics than to explain them, but they give the game its identity. I do wish there were more bosses though, but that is personal preference.

    Controls: 9/10

    The controls feel good, except for one thing. Whenever I was in first-person mode, the controls felt sluggish and slow to act. In third-person mode, which is what you will be in most of the game, the controls fit like the pants Link finds around the world.

    Story: 8/10

    This game is a great lesson on how to do environmental and non-linear storytelling right. However, once you look past the amazing storytelling techniques and unique characters, the story becomes sort of generic. Sure, there a great subplot about Zelda's relationship with Link and her discovering her power, but people seem to forget that is not the main plot. Sure, it has a big impact on the tone of the main plot, but it is not the main plot. In fact, Nintendo seems to have put more effort into the subplots than the main plot. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I will give the story an 8 out of 10 regardless.

    Summary:

    Given the sub-scores I just gave you, most people would rate the game a 9 out of 10. Now, if that is their opinion, I'm fine with that. However, this game is truly special. It takes its amazing parts and combines them to form a whole that is greater than the sum. It knows it is not perfect, yet that does not stop it from serving immaculate gameplay in a beautiful world set to an incredible soundtrack. This game is revolutionary, artistic, refreshing, and so much more. This is the bar that open-world games will strive to reach in the future. But that is simply my opinion, and I am open to other people's opinions, so please, go into this game with an open mind, and you may be surprised what you find.

    Es un juego inmenso en el que me podría explayar horas hablando de todo lo que ofrece, así que voy a destacar para acabar el punto negativo que hace que este juego no se lleve un 10. Eso es la forma en que está hecha la historia. Para el amante de la saga la historia corre un papel muy importante en el juego. Y al ser un mundo abierto tan inmenso en el que te puedes perder haciendo miles de cosas, la historia no está bien hilada y construida de tal forma que el jugador no se desconecte de ella.

    something that can't just be replicated and a lot of that creativity comes from the weapon degradation. People have explored the depth of the systems and created many unique interactions. And those who felt limited by it showed a limit in their own creativity not the games.

    I’ll be honest - I was more than skeptical buying the Wii U version of this game, but since I didn’t have a Switch and I was so desperate to play it, there was no other choice. However, I’m glad to say that my worries have been set aside!

    I’ll be honest - I was more than skeptical buying the Wii U version of this game, but since I didn’t have a Switch and I was so desperate to play it, there was no other choice. However, I’m glad to say that my worries have been set aside!

    I’ve been playing the game for over 30 hours now and there is still no end in sight, which may seem tedious but in fact the game always gives you new objectives, whether it be self-set or in your quest log. On the topic of self-set objectives, I’ll always find myself distracted from my main goal. For example, I climb onto a mountain and see a shrine in the distance (a mini dungeon that there are 120 of) and start paragliding towards it. I then notice a camp of Bokoblins and decide to ambush them instead. By the time I’m at the shrine, it’s already been a good 15 minutes!

    I won’t spoil anything here, but the story is refreshing, even for a Zelda game, and blends perfectly with the open-world and exploration. Most of the game’s characters are unique and memorable and I’ve even found myself in the market for some of the Amiibo!

    Speaking of Amiibo, they offer a great boost to those who already have them. Amiibo can be used once a day and provide Link with some random food, materials and herbs. However, use a Legend of Zelda Amiibo and you’ll be rewarded with some special items! For example, by using the 8-Bit Link Amiibo you will obtain the outfit from the original Legend of Zelda and also some Rupees as an added bonus. I already own quite a few Amiibo myself so I was pleased to see them utilised so well!

    I’ve been reading some reports on framerate issues and I’m happy to say that they are VERY rare. The only two instances I can give are in the water at the very first shrine (but strangely no other water) and at Kakariko Village. Other than that, I’ve had no problems and the Wii U version compares vey nicely to the Switch version!

    Overall, this game is a refreshing experience that can be enjoyed by anyone! The mechanics are so unique that they don’t get boring, even after 30+ hours, (although some friends of mine have logged over 70 hours) but still carry that ‘Zelda Vibe’ that makes the series instantly recognisable. Just yesterday, I went to the bathroom and came back to find my 10 year old brother exploring the world and loving it just as much as I did! I would highly recommend picking up this game!

The switch version has the portability factor as an advantage over the wii u one, true, but it's still a very good game in either version.

    A masterpiece, open-world done right and playing it is just a fun thing to do. BoTW treats the series in a very different way, yet it has high enough quality it can be argued to be the best Zelda ever made. It sure is a true contender for it.

    An absolute masterpiece. I cannot list all the pros of it, there's too much of them. The only con that the game contains is that you cant have save slots or multiple characters like in FO4. It did Ubisoft towers better, it is a good mix of battle and thinking.

    The open-world really was a great idea! For reference, the game never forces you to do anything you personally don't want to it. If you want, (after you get the glider) you can go to the final boss. In my opinion, this is the game that did it the best. Sorry Witcher and Skyrim, but in my honestly opinion Breath of the Wild has to have the funnest open-world to travel in. For reference, I got bored of Witcher and while I had fun with Skyrim, I had to use a horse most of the time in Elder Scrolls. I know that this may sound weird, but I never found a need to travel on horse-back. That is how much I had fun travelling through the world. I tried riding on a horse, but I found myself missing more things then if I just traveled on foot or glided through the air.

    I never got bored in Breath of the Wild. I always found something to do no matter how small or tiny it seemed.

    I could go on, but this is a game that I feel like you should experience yourself. If you have a Nintendo Switch or a Wii U, you should own this game.

    Game greatest strength is also his greatest weakness story telling, gives freedom to the player so you can create your own story but also lacks of a strong narrative, it depends on how creative you are. Beautiful game and one of the best open world games ever made.

    I loved this game, it's funny, long as hell, and just stunning in every aspect. Perfect for people who like to explore, solve puzzles and adventure games in general. I really missed the classic dungeons like the ones from previous entries an I also noticed a lot of issues in terms of frame rate but I don't think that affected my experience with the game. Masterpiece.

"Oh there's a little forest. Let's see if I can shoot some deer. Pick up some mushrooms while I'm at it. Maybe cut down some trees for firewood. Am I going to use my sword for that or an axe? Or better yet, I'll use the bombs, so I can spare my weapons! What's up with this giant tree? Is there a Korok hiding here? My Shiekah radar is beeping, there must be a shrine nearby... Maybe behind this hill? Oh **** there's a guardian! Do I run away? Try to deflect his beam? Attack him with arrows? Should I use ancient arrows or should I save them for later?"

    This really is an open-world game in the best sense of the expression. There are no endless text boxes explaining super-complicated control schemes and gameplay systems. The tutorial doesn't last for 20 hours+. There are no missions where you have to do EXACTLY what the game tells you to or you fail, the very opposite of what an open-world sandbox experience should be like (Looking at you, Rockstar...).

    Taking the first step outside the cave where you start and having a look at the landscape is just magical. A whole world for you to explore.

    After the game introduces you to the main mechanics in a fun way on The Great Plateau, you're free to go wherever you want and do whatever you want. This is the magic of BotW. Real Freedom. You can explore every nook and cranny, climb every mountain and get every upgrade imaginable. Or you can head straight to the final boss and try your luck with him with your three hearts (if you get that far). You can solve puzzles and defeat enemies in whatever way you like to. Whatever works, works. Better yet, things pretty much always work the way that you would expect them to, knowing the rules of this world.

    For a common criticism: Many people seemed to expect this game to have the same kind of memorable, typical Zelda tunes that played in past Zelda games like Ocarina of Time. But just like with everything else, Nintendo took kind of a different approach here. First, you have to acknowledge that now pretty much the whole game (aside from the shrines and the Titans) is "overworld". So if there was a BotW Overworld-Theme, it would be playing all the time and you would probably get sick of it really quickly. Second, the "lack" of music really reinforces the atmosphere. Again, BREATH of The Wild. Breathing. Space. Quietness. I know a lot of people in our frenzied culture cannot stand to have even a moment of peace and quiet and need constant stimulation. But I personally really like the choice that was made here. Just simple, quiet piano or no music at all when traversing the vast stretches of Hyrule. It really helps immerse yourself in the feeling of exploring this empty, ruined land, that is paradoxically filled with life, secrets and imagination. Plus, there actually are quite a few noteable tracks in this game, like the music in Kakariko or Hateno. The former, after having been portrayed in the past as a small, lazy town and, after that, a Wild West settlement, has now been reimagined as a beautiful Japanese village.

    Another common criticism is the presentation of the story or the lack thereof. Now, I think the way it was handled, through collectable flashbacks, is perfect for this game. This way, there is no story that needs to be advanced before you can get to the final boss. If you want to know the backstory, you can collect the memories. If you don't care, you don't have to, and everything in the game still makes sense. Again, everything in this game is about freedom and giving the player choice. And personally, I really liked the idea of the lost battle 100 years ago and exploring the ruined Hyrule, even if it may just have been a practical decision by the developers.

    On top of all the aforementioned positives, there is the classical Nintendo/Zelda charm. The world is just filled with memorable, likeable characters. Every little NPC has a personality to them. Even though you are exploring a wild landscape by yourself (there is no companion character like Navi or Phi), you never feel alone or lonely.

    Nintendo tried something new and very different for this iteration of the Zelda franchise, and it paid off BIG TIME. BotW is my favourite Zelda game and my all-time favourite video game in general. It's as close to perfect as you can possibly get. Everything is just designed and thought out so well and polished to make the experience very intuitive and the best that it can be. It's a masterpiece and a true work of art.

Between the tolerable load times, lack of noteworthy performance issues and the absence of other glitches typical of Bethesda's flagship titles, this game is an absolute masterpiece that lives up to the hype that surrounded it leading up to its release.

    The only negative I can speak to regarding Breath of the Wild is what I saw as a lack of replayability. After clearing all the shrines and completing the DLC, I had almost no desire to return to this version of Hyrule. However, I have almost no doubt that the first time you play through Breath of the Wild, you will enjoy yourself no matter what other games you like. This is easily one of the greatest Zelda games of all time, and I would not shy away from calling it one of the greatest open-world games of all time.

    A masterpiece without equal. This is for me without doubt the best Zelda game and the best game of all time. The vast open world feels so alive and real and it's just incredible to explore Hyrule. Nintendo made almost everything right with this one. It's as near to perfect as it gets. Must play but a bit better on the Switch.

    Breath of the Wild can’t be compared to the likes of The Witcher 3 or Skyrim because it’s not trying to be those games -- it’s a Nintendo game -- and series -- all grown up. It has a lot to offer and will keep you engaged for lengthy periods of time. If you’re playing on Switch as you absolutely should be, then you can also Zelda wherever you go. It’s arguably not the best Zelda game, but damn, it might be the most polished, and the most ambitious.

    Does it have the best combat system in the world? No. Is it the best looking game out there? No. Does it have the best RPG soundtrack ever? No. Can the game make you feel like you are eight years old again? Hell yes. It certainly had that effect with me. It has been a long time since exploring, fighting, and adventuring has so consistently brought a smile to my face. Breath of the Wild is such a wonderful experience that once you play it, you will likely never look at open world games the same again.
