Gaming is about having fun. That is what Super Smash Bros. for Wii U delivers, unlike a lot of other major game releases this year, which have been major disappointments this year. Smash Wii U is a breath of fresh air, and there is so much to do that I know i'll get hundreds of hours out of the game.

Amazing game, may even be the first time a smash game gets a goty award as it is filled with content a ton of new modes and characters( 8 player smash is awesome) and stages. It is truly a next gen game.
I think everyone knew this would be hit with awesome review scores however the real test is how much it helps the wii u, and I hope it helps it a lot

One of few current-gen games that run at 1080p 60fps, great colourful art style, extremely loaded with content. Over 50 characters, two different online modes (a serious mode and a fun mode). If you're on the edge about getting a Wii U, after Smash you shouldn't be.

Absolute perfection. If you've played any of the other SSB games you know what I'm talking about. This is definitely worth getting. In fact, it's a game that all Wii U owners should have in their collection.

Literally the best console game ever created. I can't say it's THE best game ever created, because Sakurai's other flawless masterpiece, Kid Icarus: Uprising, takes the cake. Lets start off by rebutting any complaints.
-Are people really complaining about the name? [facepalms intensify]

-The clones. Anyone who hates these are "children" who "cannot be helped" -Masahiro Sakurai. He explained that clones were once alts, but added as additional characters, with little effort, so we could have extra characters. How could anyone be salty about them? It's not like they took the slot of another character. linkamo, for example, is a helpless child. he stated that " They’ve taken away a few of the better characters (like Snake and Ice Climbers) and replaced them with 14 new characters. Except, most of those characters are minor revisions to other characters. (Seriously… “Dark Pit” couldn’t have just been a different skin of “Pit?”)" MOST of the newcomers are minor revisions? Since when is 2/14 most? What an idiot. He also thinks Snake and IC's were replaced, when, in reality, the IC's were cut for technical reasons, and Snake was removed because Konami has been a jerk to Nintendo.

-Adventure mode/replay value. "Adventure" mode is the same thing every time you play through it in Melee and Brawl. Smash4's big mode is Smash Tour, which was designed so the same events are rarely produced. So which has more replay value? A mode that is the same every time, or a mode that is never the same? The answer is obvious. Since adventure had to be cleared as everyone in Melee, it got super repetetive, just as Classic (to a lesser degree) and All-Star do. The community also hated Brawl's SSE Great Maze, so I really don't see why people wanted the story mode to return (i personally liked it, but that's just me, and a completely new mode prevents this game from feeling like Brawl 2.0)

-Brawl 2.0: This game added more to its predecessor than Brawl did, and people are calling it Brawl 2.0, but not calling Brawl Melee 2.0. What. The. Hell? Special Orders, Conquest, Smash Tour, Custom Fighters, Trophy Rush, Photo Studio, Paint, the list goes on. Brawl only added Tourney and Online mode basically. Yes, the pace is closer to Brawls, it is is undoubtedly faster. Even so, they added things like For Glory and Omega forms to appease those who don't play smash the way it was intended. (Sakurai did state that Smash was supposed to be chaotic and fun). This game is actually closer to melee in one aspect: the amount of clones (#REKT)

-Customization. People say this is a dumb mode. K. Don't use it if you don't want. However, these make Classic mode and Hard Events so much easier. Seriously. I have a Donkey Kong with Lifesteal and Auto-healing, and he is a tank. Custom specials also make clones feel unique.

-Stages: There are a lot less new ones than Brawl, but if you add he new stages from Smash 3DS, we're golden. Even so, almost all of the new stages are amazing and unique. This is most likely because of the Wii U's advanced hardware being able to make more dynamic stages. You can't look me in the eye and say Mario Circuit 8 isn't an outstanding stage.

-8 Player Smash: It's fun with friends, but if you give this game a bad score because of an optional mode, you probably dont have any. (#REKT)

-Not many unlockables: Tell me again how having most of the content from the start is a bad thing? Unlocking was always a drab to me. Just gimme my stages and character and do it quick. Most of us already unlocked everything in the 3DS version too, so doing it all AGAIN would be tedious. If you want motivation to try new things, there's still the Challenges and Events. Speaking of which, the Events are notably better than Melee's and Brawl's, and you get rewards for completing them. They're also non-linear.

-Blast Zones too high: I'm guessing that, if this is a problem, you're missing a few chromosomes. There's something called "damage ratio" in the game that you can adjust.

-Too many fire emblem characters: Eh. I can't believe people want Roy to return as DLC.

-Online lag: I rarely play online, so any issues with it are not issues to me. Invite some friends over. Oh wait. I forgot that people who give this game a low score for dumb reasons have no friends.

-Amiibo functionality: Personally, I found the amiibos to level up too fast. You can get one to level 50 with ease. The process is still enjoyable. If you think otherwise, no one's forcing you to buy an amiibo figure.

-Classic Mode: Its better. You pick who you want to fight and which kind of rewards to recieve.
    I'm out of characters.

Let's not forget this game's soundtrack, which is undoubtedly the best of any game, the stunning HD visuals, the fan requested newcomers who mostly have unique mechanics. Special orders are great. Master is a great way to earn some quick coins, and Crazy is the only reliable way to get CDs. You also get a ton of rewards at the end of Crazy Orders and Smash Tour

This game is without a doubt the best game of 2014. It doesn't happen very often that a game offers that much fun for so many different people with different skill levels and ages. However, this game can also be an easy accessable party game that someone can enjoy who just picked up the controller.

This game features an Nintendo All Star cast with characters from famous video game franchises like Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Yoshi, Kirby, Star Fox, Pokémon, F-Zero, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, Wii Fit, Punch-Out!!, Xenoblade chronicles, Earthbound, Wario, Duck Hunt and more. Third party characters like Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man will also appear. You can even play as your personal Mii. The game features 50 different playable fighters.

The game can be played in many different ways. You can invite 7 friends to your house, grab a beer and play this game together on the same screen. If you have enough compatible controllers, i can recommand you to try it because it's A LOT OF FUN. It's also a feature unique to this game.

You can also play this game online. There are two main diferent online "sections". "For fun" and "For Glory". Here you can decide wether you want to play the game casually or hardcore. Each section has a variety of different modes.

There's a lot of content in this game!

To think that wii u was capable of running a 8 players smash together at 60 fps was unthinkable!

First we had “Super Smash. Bros.” Then we had “Melee.” Then it was “Brawl.” And now, it’s “4.” Or, “WiiU.” Take your pick.

Unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the title reflects a lack of creativity in the game, too. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this is the weakest of the Smash Bros. series. In a nutshell, here’s why (with more elaboration below): 1) No new Adventure
First we had “Super Smash. Bros.” Then we had “Melee.” Then it was “Brawl.” And now, it’s “4.” Or, “WiiU.” Take your pick.

Unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the title reflects a lack of creativity in the game, too. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this is the weakest of the Smash Bros. series.

In a nutshell, here’s why (with more elaboration below):

    1) No new Adventure Mode
    2) Old modes aren’t as fun
    3) Worst replay value of the series
    4) Way too gimmicky
    5) “Brawl 2.0” would’ve been an appropriate title

    1) First and most glaringly, there is no Adventure Mode like there has been in the past two games. The closest you get to an Adventure Mode is the “Smash Tour,” which is a super confusing game board that culminates in a regular Smash Bros. match anyway. Without that Adventure Mode, I feel like I’m meaninglessly playing the game over and over without any kind of real direction. Instead of slowly learning how characters work and unlocking players as the story goes on, the game starts with most of the characters already unlocked and you’re just supposed to play endless matchups until you get the hang of each character.

    2) As you would expect it to, Smash 4 offers most of the same game modes that its predecessors have. Except, this version has not only failed to build upon previous versions, but actually takes a step backward. Classic mode is clunky and awkward: why can’t I just go through a lineup of matches like in past versions? Adventure mode is okay (and I like the concept of fighting characters in reverse chronological order), but I still think Brawl takes the cake on this one.

    3) Saying that a Smash Bros. title has poor replay value is not what you would expect, but that’s what you get here. Part of this is because there’s no Adventure Mode. But mainly, this is because there are so many tedious events to do with each character – like home run challenge, endless smash, cruel smash, etc. – that there is no way I am going to set a record for each individual character as I have in Melee and Brawl.

    4) Throughout the game, you’re collecting these power-ups that are supposed to power-up your “create your own” character. The problem is, I have no interest in creating a character and having them get powered up. This is Smash Bros., not an RPG. Unless I’m playing an Adventure Mode (and not against other people), I want an even match every time. The thought that some obsessive player is currently focusing on powering up his character, and can someday play against me and have a huge advantage because of all the equipment they’ve found, is a very disheartening one. I feel that too much time was spent on gimmicks like these and not enough was spent on actual gameplay.

    5) The worst part about this game is that it’s basically another “Brawl” and not much else. They’ve taken away a few of the better characters (like Snake and Ice Climbers) and replaced them with 14 new characters. Except, most of those characters are minor revisions to other characters. (Seriously… “Dark Pit” couldn’t have just been a different skin of “Pit?”) Of all the new characters, I was only excited about 5 of them.

The levels are perhaps the most disappointing part of this game. 21 of these game’s levels are identical versions of past games. Listen, everyone likes retro and to see new versions of old levels re-appear, but this shouldn’t be the emphasis. There are only 25 new levels, and keeping in mind that “new” often just means a platform with a new background. I would say there’s only about a dozen truly “new” levels being offered here.

That’s not to say there wasn’t effort put into the game. The game is polished and doesn’t lag (unless you’re online), and the 8-player smash option is a great improvement. I am very pleased with the additions of Pac-Man, Mega Man, Little Mac, Duck Hunt, and the bosses that appear on some stages. Also, the Event Mode seems to be the best of the all the Smashes so far.

Otherwise though, I just feel like all the effort was put into the wrong places. Here I am, on Day 2 of owning this game, and I’ve already lost interest in playing it much more because I’ve already unlocked all the characters and have just a couple stages left to unlock.

So, go ahead and click “this review wasn’t helpful," but I am thoroughly disappointed with this title. I plan to return to Hyrule Warriors as soon as the new DLC is released this coming week, and maybe even sooner.

Super Smash Bros 4 is absolutely fun and really enjoyable. You can play all by yourself on-line or mini games, but the best thing about this game is being able to play with so many friends (up to 8 people can be playing at the same time). I don't really like this game a whole lot. It's a good game, but the issue is it does the same things Brawl and Melee do, but worse. There are removed fighters, no story mode and a lack of other features that just makes the game less enjoyable than the others in the series. Definately Smash Bro' weakest entry. Just play Brawl or Ultimate.
