    Steel Rivals was a game that could have been a decent little fighter similar to Soul Calibur, but it is an obviously very rushed and incomplete fighting game that should be avoided by even the most hardcore fighting fans.

    We would absolutely recommend that you do not buy this game; especially considering the price, just go pick up a Street Fighter game off of the Virtual Console for your fighting game fix.

    When a beat ’em up ignores the basic rules of the genre, and then presents the game in the poorest fashion, it makes it impossible to recommend in any way. Especially on a console that’s home to Super Smash Bros.

    Steel Rivals comes off as a game which was not finished and simply not ready for a home release. This is a technically blotched effort that is unable to keep a minimum standard of visual stability, let alone offer a fun and compelling challenge. Add to this the dearth of visual stimulation, the disproportionate gap between the characters' capabilities and the complete lack of help or explanation given to the players and the result is a game that is simply not fun to play at all.

    Steel Rivals is irredeemably flawed and should never have been made. I try to find the good in games, even when they are bad – if a game doesn’t work, I like to think that perhaps the concept is sound but poorly executed, or perhaps the development team is young but shows signs of promise. But Steel Rivals has none of that.

    I love hearing steel bashing on steel, the sound tantalising my ear buds as the swords clash at each other and the two fighters take aI love hearing steel bashing on steel, the sound tantalising my ear buds as the swords clash at each other and the two fighters take a aggressive stance to see who will be the ultimate victor in the clash of times. Furthermore, i can pick a fight with my rival enemy to see who is the ultimate badass and I can vanquish my enemy as I impale his chest with my trusty sword. I feel happy when I see the sword go through his body and the blood flow out, while he groan in agony and die.… Expand
