    How to Survive on Wii U is surely better than on other consoles, but EKO Software could have done it in a much clever way. Good use of the Gamepad but no online co-op or new interesting ideas. All at a premium price.

    The lack of online co-op and higher price point on the Wii U isn't exactly going to help justify the purchase of this version, but for those who love zombies and are curious, check this out on another platform or wait for a sale.

    Yet another zombie title in a saturated market segment, How To Survive needs to learn what it title says. While it lures players in a fun way, the game quickly falls into a succession of unchallenging and repetitive assignments. The lack of an online cooperative mode only aggravates the case and its overall lifespan is too short for even the most enthusiastic zombie fans.

    It is too bad that How to Survive fails in so many respects. With an always-ready inventory on your GamePad, the Wii U version of How to Survive is actually better than the other versions of the game.

    It's not a tense, open-world survival game and it's not a zany, action-packed zombie kill-a-thon. How To Survive falls somewhere in between the two, and will likely appeal only to die-hard fans of the genre, or anyone willing to spend cash on a cheap thrill or two.

    But I can't get over the fact that this is meant to be a survival game that doesn't create a convincing argument for being a survival game. And because it compromises its vision, How To Survive is a fun game, but little more than that.

    The gameplay is extremely similar to Dead Nation on PS3, except that it has an open-world and a crafting/survival element. Overall theThe gameplay is extremely similar to Dead Nation on PS3, except that it has an open-world and a crafting/survival element. Overall the graphics are good for a top-down hack/shoot game. What dialogue/story/characters it has are good, though this isn't a game with a serious plot other than to survive. Controls work great and there is an option for off-tv play in the settings menu.

    Some reviews have noted the price ($14.99 at release) and lack of online co-op as a detractor. While the price is definitely high for an "Indie-type" game, it's the same as other consoles. I personally don't care about online co-op, though I was glad it offered local co-op. You'll probably want to watch the trailor and read reviews to see if this is the kind of game you will like before you shell out $15.
