Nov 29, 2012The voice acting is all wonderfully done, especially Death. He's such a great character and is very funny throughout the game, especially in the way he deals with some of the side-quests that characters give him. If you already own the game, there's very little incentive to picking up the Wii U version, but if you've held off or never had the means to buy it until now, I highly recommend the purchase.

Nov 29, 2012On Wii U this stays an essential buy for everyone that hasn't played it yet. It is a very, very accomplished game and great for all the reasons the original was a few months ago, but you don't have to buy it again for the WiiU. Also, it doesn't do much to prove that conversions to this platform are necessarily better than their 360 or PS3 counterparts. It's still 'just' one of the best games in recent years as it was back in summer.
-
Nov 25, 2012An excellent game made even better, the Wii U version of Darksiders II is the one to own.
-
Jan 17, 2013Darksiders II is an excellent launch game to test your Wii U. Its mixture of gameplay styles puts the console through its places and proves that the Wii U is well adapted to traditional games. Besides that, Darksiders II is an enormous adventure and the Wii U version even includes the first round of DLC on the disc, so if you've been holding out on Darksiders II, the Wii U version is the one to get.
-
Dec 13, 2012This version of Darksiders II is nearly identical to the ones released on the PS3, 360 and PC in Auguest. While the Wii U version doesn't offer many innovations, it does come with all of the currently available DLC. The GamePad makes little difference to the gameplay, and though it's fun to have maps and inventory items ready and in front of you at all times, I still preferred to play with the standard controller. It's a great game, perfect for anyone who likes a good action-RPG.
-
Dec 8, 2012If you picked up a shiny new Wii U and have not played Darksiders II on any other console you really can't go wrong picking this up as it makes for a solid launch title. From its production values to the size and scope of the adventure you embark on, the game will really engross you. That being said, if you have previously played the game on a different console then I really can't recommend it as nothing has changed and the GamePad features don't add anything mind blowing to the overall experience.
-
Dec 4, 2012A great port of an amazing game, even if the gamepad could have been used much better.
-
Nov 28, 2012Despite these problems, Darksiders II is an excellent, lovingly crafted game I wholeheartedly recommend, especially if you liked the first. From a production value perspective, it's at the top of its class, and my problems with the game are largely personal preference quibbles. Just like the first, Darksiders II is the Zelda game we never got.
-
Nov 28, 2012The Wii U version of Darksiders 2 won't revolutionize the way players were usually playing. Having the entire HUD on the GamePad is pleasant but the navigation is not as good as it should be. Moreover, the different moves that need to be done with the motion controls are not really intuitive. And yet, despite these few minor problems, Darksiders 2 is still fun to play, especially with the new "remote play" function brought by the Wii U version.
-
Nov 21, 2012Darksiders II is a great adventure. It takes everything that was great in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions and adds "The Argul's Tomb" DLC and also a great integration with the GamePad screen.
-
Nov 19, 2012Still, it remains the same great game as before, so those who have yet to venture out into the great unknown as Death are guaranteed a great launch title with the Wii U version of Darksiders II.
-
Nov 18, 2012An excellent way to experience Death's adventure. There haven't been any significant changes from the Xbox and PS3 versions. The combat is still thrilling, the dungeons are lengthy and challenging, and the loot hoarding is addictive.
-
Jan 8, 2013Darksiders II offers almost everything, a good action adventure needs – variety, explorable landscapes, neat dungeon design, boss fights full of action and a variety of side quests.
-
Games Master UKJan 15, 2013If you're a Wii U owner who hasn't played this on other systems, and are itching for Zelda, this is a great way to make the wait more bearable. [Feb 2013, p.77]
-
Dec 7, 2012Darksiders 2 on Wii U is more or less the same as on other "current gen" consoles. However the game suffers bad optimization in graphics.
-
Nov 19, 2012Exactly the same great game. Only The Argul's Tomb and new possibilities with the GamePad screen make the Wii U version the most complete and recommended, but identical to the others. The best adventure game of 2012.
-
Dec 10, 2012The Wii U version isn't that much different than it is on other consoles, which makes it one of the better games in the Wii U launch lineup.
-
Nov 22, 2012All the extra content and new GamePad features on Wii U make it a great choice until Zelda comes, even though visually it's slightly worse than the other versions.
-
Jan 14, 2013In the end, the Wii U version of Darksiders II is almost exactly like the other console versions. The added control options are nice but don't give Wii U owners a large advantage over their brethren.
-
Nintendo PowerDec 14, 2012This eye-popping, massive adventure has its share of rough edges but ultimately does a fantastic job of transporting you to a faraway realm and telling a great story--which is superbly voice-acted--in the process. [Dec 2012, p.88]
-
Nov 29, 2012The Wii U conversion has several technical flaws starting from the bad framerate during the fights. At the same time it uses the GamePad in a perfect way and the game is still one of the best action adventure of the last years.
-
Nov 27, 2012If you know Death from another console there is no reason for you to ride with him again. But as a launch title for Wii U this as close as you will get to a game in the tradition of the Legend of Zelda-series.
-
Nov 25, 2012All that said, if you have already taken Death's journey, there is little reason to come back for seconds. Darksiders II is a great game, but once is more than enough here. I am still dealing with side quests and DLC from the original 360 version personally, so unless you skipped it altogether, there is no single feature that makes this worthy of a double dip. Wii U owners that have yet to embark on the series should definitely check it out. It is a massive game that will last you upwards of 50 hours to complete. As a launch title, that is impressive.
-
Dec 17, 2012For newcomers to the series, Darksiders II provides a satisfying gaming experience on the Nintendo Wii U. With fun gameplay and lots of challenges to be found along the way, the only thing holding back the title is the frame rate and loading times that can sometimes be an issue. However most of these can be forgiven, especially when you are finding new weapons and powers as you search the land for a way to vindicate your brother.
-
Dec 10, 2012The control pad is used for skills and your inventory, but outside of this none of the motion control or other features are used.
-
Jan 6, 2013Fans of action RPGs, dungeon crawlers and puzzle games will absolutely fall in love with this game. It isn't a flawless title, but it's definitely worth the purchase if looking for a lengthy experience.
-
Jan 2, 2013A fantastic start to the Wii U's more mature library, this is grim, gritty and, most importantly, hugely enjoyable to play, especially if you're a Zelda fan.
-
Dec 10, 2012Darksiders II is very, very good. In paying homage to the Zelda series - while adding its own unique flavour - the team at Vigil has crafted a game that will appeal to those looking for a grittier take on the action-RPG dungeon crawler, while helping Nintendo fans scratch that Hyrulian itch for the time being.
-
Dec 7, 2012If you buy Darksiders II then you'll know for sure that you got a lot of content. You can spend hours on this title. It's a decent game, not better or worse than the earlier version. It's just a good game.
-
Dec 4, 2012While the Wii U version doesn't do anything that's detrimental to the overall experience it also does little to improve it in any meaningful way.
-
Nov 28, 2012This port of Darksiders II on the Wii U has both pros and cons: on the con side, some frame rate drops and less than perfect visual optimisations. On the pro side: all the DLC packed in, the maps and touch screen inventory on the Wii U GamePad. The rest is as the originals: excellent.
-
Nov 27, 2012The overall game doesn't get the polish on Wii U that it needed on other platforms back in August, but it remains a majestic blend of melee combat, puzzle solving and exploration. And if you squint, it's the best Steven Tyler game since Revolution X!
-
Nov 20, 2012Darksiders II comes with a few extra technical foibles on the Wii U, but the fluid action and intriguing exploration are still front and center in this expansive adventure.
-
Nov 17, 2012The RPG elements and to-the-point action all make for some solid gaming, glitches and all. It's a shame so many glaring issues hold such an ambitious endeavor back from the greatness its developers were clearly aiming for.
-
Dec 20, 2012Darksiders II is a great title on Wii U too, but Vigil Games should have worked more on the tech side of the game.
-
Dec 7, 2012This makes Darksiders II's bugs gamebusters. The bugs are so prevalent, the freezes such a problem, that I would only recommend the game to those willing to risk the wear and tear on their brand new hardware by having to unplug it regularly; this cannot be good for the Wii U's processors and hard drive.
