Dec 13, 2012Chasing Aurora is not a bad game, it's a good game that is let down by some poor design decisions.
-
Dec 7, 2012Chasing Aurora offers delightful backgrounds and unique multiplayer gameplay… but in the long run the game ends being too bland.
-
Dec 10, 2012If you are not interested to challenge friends and family, do not even purchase the game. The shortness of the single-player experience and the presence of only one mode against the three multiplayer modes are not in fact limits to be underestimated.
-
Dec 7, 2012Chasing Aurora looks great, and the controls are amazing. Rarely flying has been so realistic in a videogame. Anyway, the game itself is a "simple" racing game (sort of), and the most interesting part is incrementing the score... without the possibility, at the moment, of sharing it online. Multiplayer mode is fine, but nothing special.
-
Dec 1, 2012A nice surprise, but as a whole we feel it's not enough. You'll enjoy the game as long as it lasts, especially with friends, but we were expecting a much deeper experience.
-
Nov 30, 2012Chasing Aurora is fun while it lasts, but none of it has a huge shelf life. Each game type feels relatively familiar, and while novel, none of them scream for repeat performances. It might have been easier to swallow at $5 or even as much as $10, but for $15 this game feels overpriced for what you get. The ideas are sound, but the concept simply fails to deliver reasons to come back. I suggest waiting for a sale or price drop before diving into this unique, but limited title.
-
Nov 28, 2012Chasing Aurora has some cool elements, but overall I found the experience lacking. Flying the birds feels fluid, and the art style and character design of the birds are very enticing, but this game needs to be more than an incredibly shallow single-player experience and half-baked multiplayer modes.
-
Nov 21, 2012As a disposable game costing a few dollars, Chasing Aurora is something I'd recommend wholeheartedly. As a game that presents itself as worthy of standing alongside the biggest and best digital console offerings, and prices itself accordingly, this hopeful little number is left desperately wanting. While it's good for a little bit of innocent, inoffensive amusement, it just offers nowhere near enough to justify an immediate purchase.
-
Jan 31, 2013Chasing Aurora should be played by you and your friends, then and only then it can deliver any amount of fun.
-
Dec 28, 2012A beautiful game that unfortunately isn't very unique and too lightly packed.
-
Dec 19, 2012Broken Rules did an interesting job with Chasing Aurora, recreating a delicate Journey-like universe with simple gameplay mechanics. But apart from an excellent artistic direction, control schema is complicated and not reactive, and multiplayer balance isn't so poised.
-
Dec 17, 2012Chasing Aurora has a striking presentation, that's why we felt a disappointment when discovered the lack of game modes. An opportunity to create a great game was missed.
-
Dec 7, 2012The assured art direction results in one of the most striking and distinguished-looking games of the year, but this keenness of creativity isn't matched by a breadth or ambition of ideas elsewhere.
-
Dec 4, 2012It is a pretty game based on an intriguing idea, which just would have needed to be utilized to a deeper extent. Still, in a group of friends it manages to stretch its wings quite a bit for a few rounds. Playing alone, you'll never get to experience three quarters of the game.
-
Nov 23, 2012Looks spectacular and does succeed in capturing the feeling of being a soaring bird, but falls short most everywhere else.
-
Dec 5, 2012At first glance it makes you curious. The art design is interesting, but once you have seen it all you'll find that it is little more than an overpriced minigame.
-
Nov 27, 2012As it stands, Chasing Aurora is the weakest of the launch Wii U eShop games, and is only worth checking out if you value style over substance.
-
Jan 28, 2013Chasing Aurora is a beautiful game that can be fun to play together with four friends in short sessions. The price is a bit steep though, and the game gets repetitive fast and it doesn't offer much for the lone player.
-
Dec 6, 2012Sluggish loading times tend to cause frame-rate hiccups at the outset of a multiplayer game, and such issues are exacerbated in the busier environments with a full complement of players.
-
Dec 4, 2012Its graphics, art style, physics, and overall presentation values are great, and its gameplay is quite alluring. It also makes excellent use of the GamePad, though requiring Wii Remotes for multiplayer feels obtuse. If you have friends that live close-by and regularly game locally, then Chasing Aurora seems worth the price of admission. For those who like to fly solo, or have friends that do not live near enough to get together in-person, it'd be hard to recommend this purchase as there just won't be enough in it for you.
-
Nov 30, 2012While the title is easily one of the most visually striking experiences on the platform, its lack of substantial content, especially for solo players, makes it difficult to recommend at its current $15 price point.
