    It is a very good game. I really disliked XC2, and XC3 completely fixed most of my issues with it. There aren't awful affinity charts for each character to min/max, field skills are integrated into the game by NPC.

    The music in this game is fantastic. The areas are beautiful, and the world is massive. The game is definitely held back by the switch's hardware. It has frame drops when a lot is happening on screen, but it generally plays at it's consistent 30 FPS. Combat is very streamlined compared to earlier entries. The tutorials do a good job introducing new mechanics to the game. It introduces them slowly as to not overwhelm the players. The story is a tad dull compared to 1 and the last half of 2, but its fine. Do not take review bomber's opinions seriously. This game is worth it if love jrpgs with very fun battle mechanics, fun characters, and excellent world building.    … Expand

    Best one of the series so far. Awesome graphics, captivating story and nice combat mechanics. Oh, and the music! It's top notch. Worth every penny, specially considering how many hours of gameplay this game provides. It's a must have for Switch owners, even for those that are not much into JRPGs, it's worth a try.

    This game is a masterpiece. The OoL improvements made to the series is much appreciated. This is easily my favorite RPG I have ever played. Thank you Xenoblade, Monolithsoft, Nintendo, and Sean who wields the Gall. We love you so much

    Roughly 10 hours into the game and I cannot put it down. I play mainly in handheld and man does the game look and play great. If you love JRPG’s I’d recommend giving it a go. I own all of the Xenoblade games (on switch) and this was by far the easiest game to pick up and play. Only reason I didn’t give it a 10 is because I haven’t completed the game as of yet (obviously). I can’t wait toRoughly 10 hours into the game and I cannot put it down. I play mainly in handheld and man does the game look and play great. If you love JRPG’s I’d recommend giving it a go.     This game combined all good things of XB1 and XB2. Many bad things are also improved, the tutorial is also very detailed. The combat system is further and interesting like other XB games

    35 hours in, unlike the other 0/10 reviews that didn't actually play the game. This game is a major improvement from Xenoblade 1 and 2, the combat has depth, the music is still as good as ever and the story is REALLY GOOD, specially after part 6 and the voice acting is also way better than past games (plus now there's lip sync yay lol).

    If you want to play one of the best JRPGS Xenoblade    35 hours in, unlike the other 0/10 reviews that didn't actually play the game.     Xenoblade 3 is truly amazing. You can feel the passion, the experience and the love put into it. The developers have used their knowledge and expertise from developing Xenoblade 1, 2 and X to make this game the most fine-tuned in everyway, from the story, gameplay to Quality of Life improvements. If there's any complaint it would be the long tutorial.

    Anyone on this platform that gives this game a 0/10 rating clearly has either no idea what an actually bad game is like, doesn't have th will or brain capacity to spend even a minute actually thinking of a fair score, or just doesn't care and wants to manipulate the User Rating by giving the lowest score possible. Opinions can differ of course, but a 0 for a game of this size and quality is nothing but ridiculous.

    I have noticed some weak points myself which is why it gets an 8 right now - now it's a 9 - , like the tutorials being incredibly handholdy and exploration being actively prohibited by the game during the early story relevant parts, but as soon as both of those finally let me off their leash, the game started feeling increasingly amazing. The music is fantastic and many aspects have been vastly improved from the second game in accordance with frequent criticism that that game received.

    I can't wait to see where the journey goes and can only encourage people not to pay attention to this stupid review bombing.    … Expand

While this is still held back by the fact it’s an auto attack action rpg, combat has never been more involved.     This game fundamentally changed the way I think. The story is a sight to behold, the cutscenes are amazing, the music is spectacular. The gameplay is super fun and addicting, much more complex than the first game, but a lot more simplified than the second. It's a perfect, happy medium. The characters are astonishingly realistic. Fantastic game. I have zero complains.

    What amazing game and story line! I was addicted to the game within a hour! This series just keeps getting better and better as each game comes out and they improve the combat from the previous ones!
    It gets confusing at times but they have the tips area to help remind if get lost on how to do things! This game I would definitely recommend to anyone that loves jrpgs

    The game is an evolution is every single aspect from the previous titles. It offers advanced and polished combat and well implemented graphics which is a huge step from Xenoblade 2. Apart from these, the story is engaging, multilayered and well designed with very interesting and unique protagonists, antagonists and secondary characters.

    I'm about 10 hours in and have been blown away with how good this game is. I never have played any of the others in the series and may need to go back. Great characters, great story, great gameplay. Well worth the asking price.

    Hard start but after 2 hours i couldn‘t stop playing

    - stunning graphics (for switch)
    - typical but improved xenoblade fighting system

    it has anything we love the xenoblade series for and more!

    only whish to the monolith: make XBC X happen on any other console or pc. ;)

    Just finished the game and was blown away, the cutscenes, story, writing, soundtrack, voice acting and overall gameplay were all incredible. Such a great ending to a really good trilogy. Very few flaws here outside of some dialogue that can get a bit overkill but man, this one will stay with me for years.

    Ive completed all the xenoblade chronicles including xc1 original on wii, xcx on wii u, xc2z xc torna and xc definite edition on switch.

    Of xc3, ive only played 7 hours so far but from what I've played so far, its amazing. Will update once I've completed it.

Stylistically, it stands apart from both the over the top anime fantasy of 2 and the grittier, more sepia toned 1, making itXenoblade Chronicles 3 hits the JRPG sweet spot, featuring exceptional combat with customization that is deeper than it first appears, well defined characters brought to life by incredible VA talent, and an engaging story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Stylistically, it stands apart from both the over the top anime fantasy of 2 and the grittier, more sepia toned 1, making it the most distinct and enjoyable entry in the series to date.

    Compared to previous entries in the series, XC3 manages to improve on basic quality of life while keeping many of the elements that fans love. Changes to the mini map and an increased number of fast travel spots make exploring Aionis much more satisfying than in XC2, and the addition of traversal skills throughout the story help to make older areas worth revisiting.

    The traditional British voice acting has always been an inspired choice for the series, but in XC3 it really shines. Each character, whether by virtue of their regional accent or just through the VA's talent, feels distinct and full of life. This can be a bit of a double edged sword, however, as when a VA fails to nail their line or embody their character, it shows.

    The story is an old classic retold with some new twists. Each of the members of Ouroboros get their fair share of development through the main story, while side characters called Heroes (which replace the Blades from XC2) are given their own development through side stories and quests that feel much more integral to the overall experience than in previous entries. The lengthy cutscenes return for XC3, and if there is one negative about this game it's how frequently they crop up.

    If you're a fan of JRPGs or previous entries in the Xenoblade series, give 3 a try. You'll be hooked!    … Expand

    The only think i don't like is that you can clearly see the graphic limitation on hardware like switch. But i dont think the team can be blamed on that so kudo +1 for making it work. Other than that the random dialogs during/after each battle get old very soon. Don't listen to stupid 0/10 review, i doubt they    Game is 9/10.     Just **** LOL at the amount of pathetic haters and trolls who rate this a 0. Go play CS Go if you hate JRPGs so much or maybe get a life. This game is a gem with charming characters, a beautiful environment and addictive gameplay. Overall my favourite out of the mainline games so far.

    This game is genuinely the best looking first party Nintendo game on the switch graphics wise. The attention to detail in this game is insane. If you enjoyed the other Xenoblade games, you would enjoy this game. MonolithSoft has outdone themselves once again.

    A vast improvement over XBC2, they got so much right that the previous entry didn't. Nothing will ever quite be the same as the original IMHO but this one is special in it's own right.

    NOT FOR YOU: you dislike JRPG, management of characters, hate long cutscene, don't like to wander off and play your own way, have no patience.

    Most likely the best JRPG on switch alongside DQ11.

    This game has everything you could want from a JRPG:

    -Great exploration that let you ignore the main story(after a certain point): massive environnement, while not too impressive at first the game just goes on and on, and the scale is very deceptive. The size of the map is 5 TIME bigger than XC2 which was already a quite beefy!

    -A deep a fine tuned battle system, that only get progressively unveiled as you progress since there is A LOT of layers!

    -The soundtrack is fantastic, so many battle theme, so much variation of theme, and little notes!

    -The story is intriguing and like most Xenoblade a lot of theme are very subtile and expect a lot of big sequence, cutscene, and philosophical showdown.

    While it's the third Entry, it's still very accessible to newcomer very much like the final fantasy franchise(but some moment are more impactful if you know the "lore")
    However this is JRPG through and through, if you are allergic to the genre just ignore the game honestly, but if you are a fan, this the BUFFET.

    The performance of the game is pushing the switch to the max, in portable mode the game looks great, sometime in battle it get a little low in resolution but if you played XC2 and are afraid of the pixel salad rest assured, a lot of optimization have been made.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. On the hard difficulty level, it has the best boss combat balance in the series.
    We have not yet released all of the elements, although we will have a general overview of the entire combat system when we advance the story to Chapter 3. Still, around this point we will start to really get into the bosses battles.
    We need to prepare our accessories, arts and gems with great care.
    Once we understand the bosses habits, you will be able to defeat them someday by developing an effective strategy, even if you are repeatedly wiped out in the beginning.
    The hard mode is a great way to find the right balance between the two.
    There are few cases where you can somehow win or win by pushing hard.
    That is why the joy of defeating a boss is so great.

    I am grateful to have found this game that allows me to seriously tackle and enjoy the joy of the game：D

    Field music that will bring back memories for anyone who's been through the series!

    Honestly I have tried to play Xenoblade 1 and 2 and neither and didn’t quite get into them. But this game immediately hooked me. I’m only a quarter of the way through so far so take this with a grain of salt but this might be already my favorite JRPG of the year and of the past few years. I’m someone who loved SMT V, Persona before that, etc and I find this story and setting soHonestly I have tried to play Xenoblade 1 and 2 and neither and didn’t quite get into them.     Just 20 hours in and it feels like i have seen not a glimps of what the game offers, its so much (in a very positive sense)
    Graphicly its really good on the switch but not winning prices when compared to other games today like Horizion Forbidden west... *but* expacily the models of the characters are so good and fitting for the style, i dont see it as a negative.

    A magnificent sequel in every aspect. There is not a single major complaint I can make. Easily a must play for switch owners and JRPG enjoyers.

    Just started the game and as a long time fan of the xeno series I immediately appreciated the direction of this game. Maybe, in the ling run, this game would not be technically flawless , some features would be frustrating, and pacing would be far from perfect but just from a few hours of gameplay and cutscenes( the scene where Keves' soldiers walk over Agnus' soldiers dead bodies isJust started the game and as a long time fan of the xeno series I immediately appreciated the direction of this game. If you do not like these types of games just do not play it even if I know people just want to boycott this game because they do not have anything better to do in life.

    here come the people review bombing and calling the battle system boring without even understanding the mechanics past auto attacking. the exact same happened with 2, so I'm not surprised. if you can't understand the game, you should go back to fortnite!

    Amazing world, amazing story, characters, sidequests, the best combat system in a xenoblade game so far. Everything has been polished from the previous titles, bringing the best RPG experience on such a small device as the Nintendo Switch is. A true miracle that every fan from the genre should try.

    I’m only about 11 hours in the game so far, so this isn’t a review score of the entire game. So far this game is amazing, the story is fantastic, the voice acting is very good. For being on the very underpowered Switch the visual quality is really good (Nintendo needs a kick in the behind to get a more powerful system).     Monolith Soft really listens to user opinions. There are a lot of improvements compared to Xenoblade 2 and 1DE. JRPGs are dying these days and Xenoblade is one of the game I enjoyed the most. Glad to see Nintendo values this series.

    The game lays a lot of story out in the first couple of hours as well as unlocking a lot of things like all your arts in one go. This is great for vets but can be overwhelming for newcomers.     Rest assured the game does its best not to fall in some of the pitfalls of xenoblade 2's systems (Not that I thought anything was wrong with it personally). Amazingly enough, at first shoving 6 diverse characters on you you would think you would fine at least one or more of them annoying or disappointing. After 7 hours I was able to find at least one thing to like about each and every one of them and can't wait for full backstories. The writing is really amazing, and it really needed to be because it can be particularly difficult to believe what these colonies do day in and day out for their 10 year life spans.

    Technically, we aren't seeing any BETTER visuals then anything we saw in xenoblade 2 per say, but rather the little things everywhere. Performance is pretty rock solid now, no sudden frame drops from busy areas. Load times are based on the complexity of the area so out in the world the load times are quite fast. I also have yet to see any of the texture load in bugs that plagues XB2 when you loaded into cities and cutscenes. I also think facial animations have been improved noticeably. On the audio front, I so far feel this is the series best sound track to date.

    If you are any kind of a fan of JRPGs, this is a must have just as Xenoblade 2 is.    … Expand

    It is one of the best games of this year. Very good story and exellent tutorial for understanding the combats, that by the way, it is really deep and ejoyable. I really respect the opinion of other people, but I do not understand why Metacritic allow haters participate providing their useless opinion in this platform.

    i can't stand people who bash on games without even playing them.
    This game is amazing, good gameplay, AMAZING characters, good music, and nice graphics for Switch standars. The story tho, oh my god it's great, literally.
    if you like party interactions, good chemistry among protagonists and genuinely good romances, then the game's for you.

    Gonna give this a 9 from wat I've seen from the first 10 hours, extremely well put together considering the hardware that it's running on, coming from elden ring on ps5 to this was a bit of a shock but it's held up quite well even on a switch lite! Ignore the 0 out of 10s obvs not own a switch

    Ultimately, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 represents the pinnacle of the series, both gameplay-wise and narratively. The characters are another highlight of the game. They are well-drawn, with only a small amount of formulaicness. [Issue#321]

    Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a clear improvement over its predecessors in almost every way. It streamlines so much and avoids past pitfalls, though there’s still work to be done in terms of balancing the difficulty. There’s a grounded story here with a solid cast of characters, and the basic plot is much easier to digest. The world design exceeds past efforts with ease, and the implementation of Hero Quests is a game changer. While the devs have done an admirable job making the battle system easier to grasp, it feels like the series has fully explored and exhausted these core combat mechanics, signaling it’s time for the next game to change things up. As a whole, it stands as a phenomenal RPG with a one-of-a-kind sense of exploration you can’t find anywhere else.
