Not for a long time has a game called to me in this way. I used to love JRPGs as a kid. I remember playing many of them on the SNES and the mega drive. It’s wonderful. Ok, so the cut scenes are a bit long and the character development is a bit inconsistent. But the game is wonderful- huge, and exciting. I have felt like grinding this much since world of Warcraft in the early 2000’s. It’s an incredible game. If you’ve bought the switch and are looking for a BOTW-like experience, then get this game. But don’t expect it to be the same. You’ll need a touch more patience to stay with the narrative and combat. But if you do, you’ll enjoy a deep and lengthy adventure that is rare to experience in a world of shorter and brief games (no disrespect to the indies intended). Get this if you love adventure. The best RPG on the switch right now by far. Though it isn't fair to compare it to Zelda or Mario, it is a blast to play. The visuals take a moment to get used to but work well, and the score is outstanding. Must play.

The story is good and makes you want to keep on playing. The combat starts slow and gradually increase the intensity. The world is beautiful. Its a good jrpg worth playing.

Ignore the trolls, especially the ones who clearly have not played the game, because this game is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

If you're a fan of the series, or just a fan of huge sweeping JRPGs you should check this game out for sure.

Now I have played Xenoblade Chronicles 1, X, and now 2 but I have never beat one until Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Absolutely ONE OF THE BEST JRPGs out there, it's beautiful, fun, and rewards you heavily for putting in time with your party. I am 120 hours in and have yet to wanna put it down with all of the post game stuff there is.

Pros: Absolutely astounding and rewarding combat system

    Beautiful Art Style

It's on the Switch so you can take it with you!

Cons: In typical JRPG style, things don't pick up until about 8 hours in and you don't unlock all of the combat systems till about midway through. With this you will still be seeing tutorials well into the game
    The story is predictable

I randomly picked up this game on its release because I had the money for it and because I'd heard so much about Xenoblade Chronicles and X. At the start, I was like, yea a solid JRPG with its fair share of anime tropes.

Excellent game, the scenarios, the dialogues, the soundtrack is brutal, the depth and complexity of the game system itself, it is really worth every dollar, safe shopping, hours of fun, of the best if it is not the best jrpg that has been released lately, of course not all users like this type of game, the others celebrate that we are facing an excellent game.

For starters the art direction is simply amazing. I purchased the collectors edition and received the stunning art book, and I was VERY impressed with the quality. The environment titan designs is simply astounding, with weather and atmosphere effects constantly changing. I know there's been a lot of controversy around some of the character development, but

I know there's been a lot of controversy around some of the character development, but honestly what doesn't offend people these days? Some of the characters have some pretty silly proportions, but it doesn't take away from the overall characters design. Outside of maybe xenogears, this is some of their best character development Monolith Soft has created so far.

The combat system is easily one of the best systems in any JRPG I've played. Very intricate with lots of different combo paths to choose from, and it can take a while to master. I do have some minor complaints, such as making it very difficult to change Poppi's element. This restricts what type of combos you can do early on until you progress further in the story. However, at the same time it encourages the player to slow down and evaluate how you can expand upon your combos, and overall improve your playstyle.

There's numerous open world side bosses and quests to complete, with a ton of rare blades to collect. I can see myself putting hours upon hours into this game just to "collect em all." Honestly, don't listen to the SJW tropes being offended over big breasts, get over yourself and enjoy an amazing JPRG.

Be sure to download the free Japanese voice pack. MUCH better than the English voices.

The scope of this game! I gave it 9 at first, but having completed the playhrough I upped the score to 10. The game is gigantic and awesome. It falls short on how unnecessarily complicated some of the side quests are, but makes it all up with an excellent storyline.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A paragon installation to not just the Xenoblade IP, but to the returning glory of JRPGs as a Genre. the year of 2017 has shown the world exactly how capable, fantastic, but mostly unrecognized and appreciated the genre truly is.

    Score/Nota: 10/10(GAME OF THE YEAR 2017)

A couple of weeks ago I received a code with the final version of the game, to embark on this odyssey and I must say that it has exceeded all my expectations in an incredible way, to such a point at the moment I started reading the first reviews perplexed to see the cons that said "experts" had seen.

The world of Alrest is immense, beautiful, but above all alive, with landscapes and depth never seen in any game of the Switch, with countless secrets to discover and tons of things to do. I do not want to put much emphasis on your story so as not to spoil anyone, i will simply say that it is by far, far and away the best story that you will find at present in any game of this platform, which is roughly epic, emotional, full of twists well thought out and with doses of comedy that will make our long, very long adventure very bearable. With Nier Automata, they have the 2 best scripts of the year.

Much of this feat goes hand in hand with a great cast of memorable characters, those that remain engraved in our hearts. Congratulations for the guys at Monolith Soft in this regard. Another section to highlight individually because of its greatness is the soundtrack, which stands with the best prize of the year and I would say, superior to the Wii delivery. In the same way, this conglomerate of aspects would not work without a gameplay to match, in which, like its predecessors, it enjoys an exquisite fluidity and dynamism, with a degree of complexity to the height which is to be appreciated.

To finish, I want to close with the technical section that is sublime in TV mode, being the portable mode its flank side, but they are forgetting that we are not facing an small game, much less, it is a Xenoblade, for which the frames and popping slumps very few are forgiven.

In conclusion, we are facing the game of the year without a doubt; a colossal adventure that would be recorded in many, masterful in all its sections and with secondary content to the height and in amounts to bore.

Congratulations to Nintendo and especially to Monolith for the game of the year. 10/10

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only thing I could say is at times the Blade Field Skills can get in the way at a couple spots in the main events, but honestly they were so easy to overcome that the tedious nature really was not much of an issue.

Amazing music, best gameplay out of the Xenoblade games, incredible story (that ties up even some things from the first game, no spoilers beyond that point, it will give something to think about, especially if you played the first game), and does not even require even knowing what happens in the first game (though it makes the game even more impressive when you do) . A fight with an ordinary enemy whose level is slightly higher can drag on for minutes, especially if you’re fighting it alone. The combat itself is also rife with problems: sometimes main character even fails to draw his weapon, or locks onto a far-off enemy, while another already is eviscerating him in close combat.
