What a fall from grace, the dual character idea just doesn't work in single player. They tried to make a hybrid fps/rpg game and failed really badly. It doesn't matter what you do, the enemies will feel the same. Guys with just a white vest on taking 5 shotgun shells to the chest and robots taking your ENTIRE stock of ammo to kill.

I played with my friend online and we were constantly asking "Did the devs even play their own game??"

The online multi worked well at first until their was a patch and from that moment on, one of us had lag so bad, that the game was unplayable.
The slow down is very bad in places and on the last boss fight? I was getting about 3-5 fps.

honestly, bought this game at launch. haven't thought about it till now, but I barely played an hour or 2 because--even at the easiest difficulty--enemies are bullet sponges to a shocking degree. I played original wolfenstein 3d, LIVED return to castle wolfenstein...this game just isn't fun.

I'm still not sure how the massive input delay from the first Wolfenstein port wasn't alleviated in any way. I can forgive lowering the graphical fidelity to get it to be able to run on something portable like the Switch, but it's all for naught if the controls aren't responsive (even with gyro controls).

That being said, don't go into this one expecting it to be Wolfenstein 3. This is more of a spin-off with RPG elements than anything, with you being able to do things like upgrade your health cap and your weapons' ammo capacities but this also means the enemies will scale as you continue along. There was a point where I felt like I was playing the Division again with how bullet-spongey some of the enemies became (there were some high-health enemies in previous games, but this multiplies that by 2). Yes there are micro transactons (ugh) but you could grind for everything in game ... for a very long time.

If you want to experience this game, get it on another console (PC preferrably). The Switch version isn't a very enjoyable experience.

Save your money and time and pass on this. The AI is broken, the mechanics like stealth have been ruined. The characters are lousy and the story has poor taste. The physical version is just a box with a download code. Expect to grind for in game currency if you don’t want to shell out the cash for the predatory micro transactions

The Division meets Wolfenstein - Nazis, an alternate reality Paris, robots, weighty combat in solo or co-op but with bullet sponge enemies, a partial open world and RPG lite settings. If that appeals, there's a lot to like here, but if you wanted something more like a standard Wolfenstein, stick to the full blown game from last year. Panic Button have done a good job - its a fun game to solo or co-op your way through.

NB - Yes, there are micro-transactions but so far (5 hours in) I've paid zero and not felt like I was grinding or missing out by ignoring them.

Wolfenstein Young Blood is severely flawed! It has bugs, throws you back to the beginning of the level when you die with no ammo, has annoying sisters as characters who keep saying “hey dude” and “help sis” and “let us kill some nazi’s sis”. WTF? They turned a FPS game into some RPG hybrid abomination with predatory micro transactions...???!!!! What the HELL were they thinking? There are also a lot of glitches and bugs... avoid this trash game like the plague.

This game is good. It plays just fine, the hub-like, non-linear missions structure is interesting. The characters may not be as deep as in mainline games, but the gunplay is fun and the co-op works well, even when playing solo.

Nice port for Nintendo switch! The grafics are good but the frame rate are unstable but it's ok for a portable version. The gameplay looks like Wolfenstein 2 a bit more fluid. The Ai is kinda broken the death animations are squishy. Its a unfinished animations...

I was originally quite positive on this but the more I play the more the cracks start to show. The idea of using different ammo on different enemies is illogical in this type of game and works poorly. Changing weapons is too slow and often you don't have enough of the ammo you need. They need to remove this mechanic in all future titles. Level gating content is also annoying especially as some missions don't have a recommended level attached so you may end up wandering into an area and getting mowed down in seconds.

Worst of all is the AI companion. This game shouldn't be advertised as having the option of playing in single player mode. I tried one of the raid missions and made it to the final boss. It was challenging but I was wearing it down and enjoying myself but then my partner died and I had to resurrect her. I did so and noticed she was standing still in the middle of the area while the giant robot boss shot her... she died within seconds... I resurrected her several times and she continued to die until I ran out of health and we both died. As there are no checkpoints I had to restart the whole mission and lost 30 minutes. This shouldn't have made it past play testing.

I really love wolfenstein, more than Doom to be honest but a large part of that is the story and the varied level design. Running through the same areas again and again shooting nazis who keep respawning just isn't all that much fun. It's enjoyable but gets old quite fast. I really hope the developers use youngblood as a lesson in what not to do when making wolfenstein 3.

    It’s a good spin-off and a good first-person shooter. - no real Story

It’s somewhat refreshing to see a different protagonist other than Blascowitz (not sure if I spelled that right) and his daughters frequently make quips to each other during and outside of combat. Basically it looks great, plays great and you can tell that the developers care a lot about this series and were willing to try something new with an established franchise. I am surprised that this isn’t rated higher.. Anyway, I highly recommend this even if you would rather play solo (like me) as I am having a lot of fun with it. If you can also get it on a discount, get it because it’s a steal.

A really confusing game, in that it takes some of what made the modern era of Wolfenstein so great, then copies and pastes modern looter-shooter tropes on top. [Issue #41 – September 2019, p. 76]

Overall, Youngblood is a welcome reinvention of the series, but lacks the personality of what makes a Wolfenstein game. Microtransactions aren’t as bad they’re made out, but it is still understandably going to impact each person differently. The extensive replay incentive and a charming, albeit short, story are appreciated. If you are a Wolfenstein enthusiast, this game definitely deserves at least one playthrough— just make sure you won’t have any interruptions during your sessions.
