The Division meets Wolfenstein - Nazis, an alternate reality Paris, robots, weighty combat in solo or co-op but with bullet sponge enemies, a partial open world and RPG lite settings. If that appeals, there's a lot to like here, but if you wanted something more like a standard Wolfenstein, stick to the full blown game from last year. Motion controls are good, gfx are good for Switch (but much lower res compared to other version, obviously) its a fairly stable 30fps except for big battles (AFTER the day one patch). Panic Button have done a good job - its a fun game to solo or co-op your way through.

NB - Yes, there are micro-transactions but so far (5 hours in) I've paid zero and not felt like I was grinding or missing out by ignoring them.

This game is good. It plays just fine, the hub-like, non-linear missions structure is interesting. The characters may not be as deep as in mainline games, but the gunplay is fun and the co-op works well, even when playing solo.

It’s a good spin-off and a good first-person shooter. Nothing innovative about it and at the same time a great way for Bethesda to test the waters with the series by adding online co-op, light RPG elements, a fun buddy pass (allows a friend to play online with you for free without purchasing the game) and some challenging bosses (which the series has been known for). Disregarding the previous games of the series, it's a decent shooter game, full of action. But some stealth is also possible. I'm playing offline and so far so good, I like it a lot. Of course it has some flaws, but that's why I give it 8 instead of 10. For that price it's really worth it and that's it, just don't expect the New Colossus 2.1. It's a totally new approach. But I like it. Expand

The game works really well both docked and in handheld. The cutscenes lag in handheld, that is the main complaint. Docked they run fine and look good enough.

Gameplay is fun with a friend and ok alone. Mostly been playing with a friend and in handheld. A major bonus is that the in-game voice chat works straight out of the box, no need for Nintendos own, just plug your headset into the

As an mmorpg, mmofps fan that's the perfect game for me on the switch. The game mechanics like Destiny 2.
I like the open-world missions, the upgradeable weapons and skills what's are makes a difference.

So I bought this game with a huge discount mainly due to the price because I was initially dissuaded from purchasing it due to the numerous negative reviews. However after playing it, it is a really solid and fun game. It runs Xbox One caliber quality and is super smooth during gameplay. It’s somewhat refreshing to see a different protagonist other than Blascowitz (not sure if I spelled that right) and his daughters frequently make quips to each other during and outside of combat. Basically it looks great, plays great and you can tell that the developers care a lot about this series and were willing to try something new with an established franchise. I am surprised that this isn’t rated higher.. Anyway, I highly recommend this even if you would rather play solo (like me) as I am having a lot of fun with it. If you can also get it on a discount, get it because it’s a steal.

A really confusing game, in that it takes some of what made the modern era of Wolfenstein so great, then copies and pastes modern looter-shooter tropes on top. [Issue #41 – September 2019, p. 76]

Overall, Youngblood is a welcome reinvention of the series, but lacks the personality of what makes a Wolfenstein game. Microtransactions aren’t as bad they’re made out, but it is still understandably going to impact each person differently. The extensive replay incentive and a charming, albeit short, story are appreciated. If you are a Wolfenstein enthusiast, this game definitely deserves at least one playthrough— just make sure you won’t have any interruptions during your sessions.

Might not please established Wolfenstein fans, but Youngblood is still a great shooter on Switch.
