The XP wall is ridiculous. Even by completing most levels earning most of the achievements, when you reach the last ones they are blocked because you don't have sufficient XP. I don't get the point of having to repeat all levels 15 times to have aaalll the XP, in order to finish the game. In summary, a very bad decission of the developers that spoils an otherwise outstanding game.

I'm not into schmups much but I really love this game. Being equal parts side scroller, schmups and puzzler is quite the unique combination and it all works and mixes amazingly. The side scrolling bits feel amazing, some of the most responsive controls I've felt. I'm used to coming to my first platforming bit and think "alright how is this going to feel..", but no worries there. GorgeousI'm not into schmups much but I really love this game. Gorgeous graphics (love Kai's facial expressions in the cutscenes) even if the enemies are quite limited and repetitive. Absolutely stellar soundtrack that can turn the game into a bit of a rhythm game as well when replaying levels with more skill and knowledge.

A real gem of a game!

Velocity 2X brings a very high-paced shooter with platforming elements to the Nintendo Switch and one which manages to both welcome new players and put up a significant challenge to veteran players. Thanks to its fun gameplay mechanics, non-linear levels in the most advanced stages of the game and overall variety of the game experience, Velocity 2X is another welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Velocity 2X has online leaderboards to keep players coming back for more, and with the inclusion of all previously released DLC as part of this Switch iteration of the game, this represents the most complete version of the title to date. It’s not an especially long experience, but length isn’t always the objective of a given game, nor is it always an indicator of quality. Velocity 2X is a delightful addition to the eShop exactly as is. FuturLab says that how well Velocity 2X sells on Switch will play a huge role in determining if another sequel is made, so we implore you to go out and give it a download!

Velocity 2X is a marvellous, quick paced experience with plenty of re-playability, that definitely finds its home on the Nintendo Switch. If you’ve never experienced Velocity 2X before then you are in for a treat. Get it in your (solar) system, now.
