A very bad video game at writing level. Irrelevant and random decisions that make you win or lose in a very unintuitive way. Woke politics and gay shoehorned characters

Better than it’s predecessor. As in Coteries - if you love World of Darkness, and you understand that it’s not an AAA game, you should definitely play it. Writing is great, art is beautiful, and characters are memorable. Developers have managed to show Lasombra clan, and vampirism in general, in an amazing way (in both Coteries and Shadows of New York). I would like to see more realBetter than it’s predecessor. - Stunning art
    - Really cool story and writing, with a great twist at the end
    - Music

    - It’s cheap! The bad:
    - Too short
    - Repetitive art - Not enough real choices - more than in Coteries, but still...

A mature visual novel that isn't afraid to be fun, Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York is a quick plunge into the freezing waters of a bloodsucker-filled Big Apple. It won't last you forever, but you'll be hooked for its short runtime. It does a lot with a little and is breezy enough to fly by. Just don't expect to actually, you know, do that much. Great art and good writing, but not enough of it.

Shadows of New York has dramatically increased the quality of its backgrounds from the first game, with more details and animated elements. They look excellent, and while there's a lot of repetition (and many returning locations from the previous game), the strong art and great, distinctive character designs help to keep the game engaging. The soundtrack, composed by Polish artist Resina, really stands out, too. It's equal parts gorgeous and menacing, and the brooding, moody tracks that play under all the game's beautiful images set the tone beautifully. The music is used to great effect, setting the tone and making it easier to picture actions that are being described in the script but not depicted. Every time I loaded the game up, I'd take a moment to enjoy the tremendous main title theme before starting.

I'm left with the exact same impression with Shadows of New York as I was with Coteries of New York from earlier this year. This development team has talent, writes a quality visual novel, understands the aesthetics and tone of Vampire: The Masquerade, and you get the feeling that they can achieve some incredible things with the property. To get there, though, they need to graduate from writing a pen-and-paper RPG to something more literary, because unfortunately for them, in deciding to joust with exceptionally complex, challenging subjects like they have with Shadows of New York, they're being unseated far too often by a lack of insight and complex analysis, leaving their work feeling a touch too shallow for its own good.
