Trifox is a fun action platformer that allows you to choose the type of character you play as. Although there are a couple of concerns with floaty physics and a rigid camera, but they are outweighed by fun fights, clever puzzles, and vibrant visuals.

Trifox is a tribute to the greatest 3D platformers and a game that knows its stuff just like the protagonist, smudges and fluidity on the Switch apart.

Even if it’s not very original, Trifox captures its influences so well that it carries with it a lot of residual charm. It’s not going to make you forget the games it’s borrowing from, but it’s a solid enough entry in the genre that if you miss those games, you could do a lot worse than trying it out.

Many YouTubers and reviews will briefly gloss over the poor in game mechanics and camera angle issues well be warned!

TLDR: my recommendation is DO NOT buy unless it’s on sale for FREE. Gameplay - controls noticeably lags ~ 1 second delay & graphics is noticeably unpolished even for its intended cartoon art direction.

The game does not feel polished. There’s noticeable input lag from when you press a button to your character (Trifox) responding on screen. The worst I’ve experienced on any game (indie or otherwise).

The input lag is compounded by imprecise implementation of how you fundamentally move your character with the controller with the worst offenders been: changing direction of character in-game, dashing, and jumping. The camera implementation locks player out of controlling so you’re stuck with one of the worst and most unresponsive camera angle implementations. E.g. Don’t try to go backwards or move and turn at same time.

I wish Nintendo had a refund policy like steam. DO NOT BUY!!!

It’s a shame then that neither the platforming nor the action are strong enough to hold everything together. It’s definitely a very promising first entry from the developers though, and certainly gives a good indication of what they may be capable of in the future!"
