    Tormented Souls is a fabulous return to classic survival horror, the likes of which haven’t been seen for years. Even horror novices will gel with it because it updates the genre just enough to be accessible in 2022.

    Tormented Souls is a true homage to the survival horror classics of the ‘90s. It’s sold as a modernisation of the genre, but really, it’s the opposite: a game that resists the allure of polish and convenience, and instead commits to the clunky, unwelcoming design—deliberately—that makes those classics tick. That approach won’t appeal to everyone, and the balance isn’t always spot on, but when it comes to dredging up some creepy atmosphere and instilling a constant sense of tension and unease in the player, Tormented Souls hits the mark.

    Aside from the changes to the feel and efficiency with the cursor controls and some stuttering cutscenes, Tormented Souls remains one of the few successful attempts at recreating that late 90s survival horror vibe. Cinematic camera movements and a beautiful but eerie atmosphere (not to mention nightmarish monsters) lends some scariness to the game, while terrible voice acting and a strangely bare plot leaves players with more questions than answers by the time the game is over. It would seem the best and most authentic way to play Tormented Souls would be on Playstation 4, Xbox One, or PC. The very slight graphical improvements on a smaller mobile screen don’t take away the benefits of playing on other consoles.

    If the horror atmosphere, marvelous presentation and good level design help Tormented Souls become a sharp experience, its often underwhelming puzzles, lack of new ideas or the way they are implemented, and irregular performance are a reminder that following the legacy of a beloved series is not enough. Nonetheless, Tormented Souls is a good horror and fans of the genre will most certainly draw something from it.

    Nice visuals and gameplay. Really enjoyable. Switch version of this game works good. If you are a survival horror fan this will fit for you.

Me está gustando mucho y me gusta mucho la atención al detalle en los puzzles.
    Me encanta como hace memoría a los antiguos survival horror, y mejora algo la formula, tanto en puzzles como en jugabilidad.
    No todo es bueno, ya que el port de nintendo switch esta algo falto de una buena optimización y más aún en el modo DOC, aunque en el modo portable también falla algo, aunque no se nota tanto como en el modo DOC, En todas las cinematicas el juego va muy bajo en tasa de frames, y en algunos puntos del mapa, sobre todo se nota en el modo DOC, se nota demasiado el aliasing (los dientes de sierra).
    Lo dicho, es un muy buen juego, me lo he pasado genial jugandolo, pero le hace falta una buena optimización, tanto en modo DOC como en modo potable.    … Expand

    Unless I'm missing a patch (which I'm certain I'm not) this game runs like arse on all but the PC, and maybe PS5 and XBX. It is quite impressive that a game that looks like this can run as poorly as it does. What is particularly insulting is that a very large portion of the performance issues on last gen consoles could be fixed if the devs released a patch locking the frame rate to 30FPS rather than sticking with the wildly inconsistent 60FPS, and by wildly I'm talking 26FPS to 60FPS swings, due to this, and terrible frame pacing, it often feels like you are wading through superglue infused soup making Tormented Souls jarringly distracting to play and thoroughly unpleasant. A further bonus for locking the game to 30FPS on last gen console hardware would be the devs could use the "spare" overhead to improve visuals bringing it closer in line to the PC counterpart. It's simply nonsensical buffoonery from the developers. The devs could, and should, have done better here - and still could with a simple 30FPS patch at least.

    Inexcusable performance issues aside the game itself is worth a play (on PC, and maybe PS5 or XBX) harking back to the times of yore with classic tank controls and hammy voice acting, just like you'd hear in the likes of the first Resident Evil and Silent Hill. On last gen consoles this game is a hard pass due to terrible performance and visual issues, on a moderately good PC or current gen consoles the game is a solid 7/10, good, but with plenty of room for improvement.    … Expand

Graphics are very early PS2 like if not even worst, and that is NOT the Nintendo Switch 's fault because the Switch has and runs many 1st and 3rd party beautiful games, this game is just ugly! Terrible story if there is any, because the game is so confused and has no idea what to be? Resident evil like tank controls with Outlast looking like monsters and a Silent hill creepiness wanna be? And it doesn't succeed to be Amy of those, not even close, voice actors are probably homeless people hired by the developers of this game and 0 lips movements during dialogs, music is literally a Resident evil wanna be but fails horribly, I just bought this game on the Nintendo e-shop for $14.99 and I regret it, I should have bought a 6 packs and a pack cigarettes instead and that would've made me much happier than spending it on this trashy game, so please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAPPY GAME.… Expand
