Final Remix adds improvements in the graphics section, in addition to including new content and the possibility of playing it in TV or tabletop mode. It has an interesting story, a fantastic soundtrack and a very original gameplay, although it may take us a while to adapt to the game system on Switch.

Ten years after its original release, The World Ends With You still is an interesting and above all original roleplaying expereience. A bizarre story, interesting characters and dynamic team battles show off its creativity.

The World Ends With You's strengths are in its narrative, which is genuinely different and consistently interesting, and the verve and style with which it pulls it all off. There's reason for existing fans to play the game again, because it has an all-new chapter to work through, and there's certainly a reason for people who haven't previously played it to give it a go, because to this day, nothing else has quite managed to offer what The World Ends With You offers.

The World Ends With You has always been a fantastic game, and it's at its best in the Final Remix on Switch, even if the optional motion controls don't quite do it justice. Its story, presentation, battle systems, and music are all incredible, and there's nothing out there quite like this. Whether you're a newcomer to the game or a veteran from the DS days, there's no better time than now to play TWEWY.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is a great port, so long as you keep it in handheld mode. Combining RPG storytelling with frantic cell phone game tapping, this funky, high-fashion game is still a surprisingly unique experience, but the Joy-con controls are simply not up to par. With a killer sound track, a surprisingly complex plot, and a whole lot to do after the credits roll, this DS title has more than stood the test of time.

The Switch version of The World ends with you is a nice one, albeit not perfect: the price is too high and we're still wondering why the Pro Controller is not supported in TV mode. Still, what we have here is one of the best JRPG of the DS era, which is a lot to say by itself.

Due to it’s weird control issues, The World Ends With You: Final Remix could be hard to recommend to most players if not for everything else it does so well. It’s fantastic story and characters, beautiful designs and unique gameplay more than make up for the occasional wrist strain, but just be warned going in that it’s not like any other title you’ve played.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is a must for new players who are looking for a deep, rewarding JRPG. If you've played the game on Nintendo DS, however, you may find the gameplay options presented in this port a bit of a downgrade from the original.

Although it doesn't quite live up to the original DS version, the Switch port of TWEWY is certainly worth a go for those in search of a fun and unconventional JRPG experience.

TWEWY -Final Remix- does a stellar job with updating the DS originals visual and aural design. Some control issues and changes to combat mechanics to fit the Nintendo Switch are unfortunate but the story and game systems are still excellent and will still have you eagerly trying to survive the Reaper’s Game.

The World Ends With You makes its premier on a home console and this Nintendo Switch version is certainly filled with elements that should attract any player's attention, from its dynamic combat system to its art style and fluid gameplay...as long as it's played on the Switch as a handheld, since the use of the conventional control system brings some interactivity problems and turns a fluid gameplay into something more clunky than it is acceptable. Regardless of that, this version of The World Ends With You is without doubt a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Sure, an enhanced version of a mobile port is bound to disappoint some, but The World Ends With You: Final Remix is a more accessible version of the original that's still an extremely memorable and one-of-a-kind experience.

The World Ends With You Final Remix is a port with problems, that much is certain, but I can't help but feel it's still a game well worth playing. I genuinely expected to be disappointed with how the game plays, and while there are some frustrations present that you shouldn't have to deal with, it's still such an enjoyable venture that I have to recommend it to JRPG fans. Oh, and the music is amazing.

For all of those that may want to discover this Nintendo DS classic or simply play again, the will find a complete game that, nevertheless, faces important issues regarding the movement of the characters.

The World Ends With You making it to the Switch means that a wider audience gets to enjoy this unique title, and the game is worth revisiting even for those that have already completed the DS version of the title. If this is the last we see of this property, then The World Ends With You: Final Remix feels like a fitting sendoff, even if it isn’t perfect.

For those who missed The World Ends with You originally, the Nintendo Switch version is a great way to see what all the fuss was about. Its gameplay, style, characters, and story are still perfectly fresh even ten years following its original release. Meanwhile, those wanting to try it again will find plenty to like about its adjusted gameplay and particularly some of the new ideas brought about in A New Day. The new conclusion doesn’t offer the answers to story questions that existing fans will have, but if Final Remix provides the success the game deserves, perhaps those answers will come.

Something was lost in translation and The World Ends with You: Final Remix fails to bring the same amount of uniqueness and innovation to the Nintendo Switch. The game itself is fortunately the same as before: edgy and colorful, meaningful and surprising.

TWEWY is a very unique game JRPG fans cannot miss. Control-wise we don’t like the this version that much, but other than that, it has aged pretty well.

The World Ends with You is a little less fresh and exciting than it was a decade ago. But, despite a few shortcomings and the loss of dual-screen play, it’s still an incredible game and worthwhile for those who’ve yet to play it. There’s not quite enough that’s new here for returning fans though.

The World Ends With You Final Remix brings a cool, but chaotic adventure to the Switch. The port mixes RPG with Jpop and anime in a blend of awesomeness. And it is playable by two players.

Because of the Switch’s two modes, The World Ends With You: Final Remix is simultaneously a good port and a bad one. Using handheld mode and touchscreen controls, Final Remix holds up as a great JRPG with tons of depth. It packs all the flair and charm seen in the DS original, along with some new incentives to keep playing after the story wraps. But the moment you dock the Switch and try to use motion controls TWEWY becomes a pain to play, which eliminates the fun of the new cooperative mode.

The World Ends with You certainly stands out from its RPG peers by offering a unique art style and a battle system that makes great use of the Switch's control methods. That being said, I highly recommend keeping this sucker undocked.

Still a solid RPG with interesting mechanics and an engaging story, living up to its reputation. Even playing all these years later, it still feels very fresh with its own unique identity. While the Switch version is still fun, it’s far from a great port, and the extra content is pretty disappointing.

My nostalgia for the game isn’t connected to gameplay. Instead I’m wistful and rosy for the zen-like grind and the charming aesthetic. If you’re okay with playing this game in portable mode at all times, I can easily recommend Final Remix. If you’re put off by the motion controls, or if you were looking for more in the way of new content, then purchase this one with caution.

The World Ends with You Nintendo: Final Remix is an interesting old school experience on the Nintendo Switch that plays okay but is also lacking a little accuracy.

iOS and Android versions of TWEWY couldn’t handle the unique combat system with two different fights on two different DS screens, so they cut one of them. Switch port mutilates the game even further. [Issue#234, p.74]

My favorite artistic element of The World Ends With You has always been the soundtrack, which is carried over successfully in Final Remix.

For anyone still having avoided or otherwise missed the original release a decade ago, a willingness to look past the temporary frustration of its controls notwithstanding, The World Ends With You: Final Remix remains, in both gameplay and story, as splendid a JRPG as it’s always been.

If you have missed the initial release of The World Ends With You, Final Remix is a great opportunity to experience the story of this excellent JRPG for the first time. However, be aware that the battle system controls in this edition are the worst... "Noise" of the game.

The World Ends With You -Final Remix-, while still great for newcomers, should have been the definitive version of the Nintendo DS classic but it ends up being just an improved version of the mobile game with far too little new content.

Still a courageously original action role-player that breaks almost every rule in the role-playing book. Although what it really needs is a sequel, not another remaster.

Purists will likely still prefer the Nintendo DS original due to its superior controls and increased difficulty, but this provides newcomers a perfect chance to experience a JRPG that, for many, fell well under their radar all those years ago.

Presentation wise, the Switch remaster both looks and sounds great, improving upon the original mobile remaster wherever it can, but the gameplay is severely neutered when compared to the original Nintendo DS release. Combat will never be as smooth with the Joy-Con setup as it is with touch controls, and the modifications made to the partner system in order to make gameplay work on one single screen remove a great deal of the original battle system's charm. Final Remix is a good game as it is still, at its core, The World Ends with You, but it is a deeply flawed, deeply disappointing reimagining of the DS classic.

The new music is wonderful, the additional stories are engaging, and the updated visuals make it hard to return to the pixelated appearance of the original DS release. Still, despite these obvious improvements and extra pieces of content, there’s a downside to the update. Some people, especially newcomers, won’t find issue with the new control scheme, but for many long-time fans the dual-character combat of the original is a huge part of what made it a game worth remastering.

For newcomers, if you can push past the awful touch controls, The World Ends With You provides a gripping tale that will consume you from start to finish.

After 10 years, The World Ends With You is still an original game. OK, gameplay wise we’re not getting the full experience on Switch due to the lack of a second screen, but nonetheless the option of playing in local multiplayer all by ourselves manages to recreate some of the original feelings. The HD graphics are spot on, but the overall experience isn’t as good as we remembered, and the price point seems a bit off given the age of the game.

As frustrating as it is brilliant. Whilst the story beats and core gameplay have fairly aged gracefully, despite the shiny HD sheen, the overall presentation of the game looks less flattering in 2018. It’s odd – in a game that’s very much the ‘how do you do fellow kids?’ of Japanese role-playing games, the story is the one element that doesn’t feel dated.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix brings a cult Nintendo DS classic to a modern platform that should be a good fit, but some poor choices in how the combat is handled bring down the experience and actually makes it the inferior version.

Now on Nintendo Switch, The Worlds Ends with You Final Remix is still a good and enjoyable game, but the port is lazy. Everything comes from Solo Remix, a mobile version from 2014, and the added gameplay system, with one Joy-Con that is used as a wiimote is not as efficient as it should be.

My opinion of The World Ends With You: Final Remix is one of indifference. All the consideration that went into making the original a compound piece of craftsmanship, inseparable from the device on which you played it, is absent. In its place is a more user-friendly experience, and while I'm not against taking a traditionally difficult game and making it more accessible -- something Square Enix already did when it ported the title to mobile devices -- Final Remix's failure to utilize the extent of the Switch hardware shows a lack of understanding as to why so many people consider the Nintendo DS original to be the masterpiece it is.
