The Unexpected Quest mostly looks good, mostly plays good, and I would mostly recommend it. I don’t know if I’ll remember the game in a couple of months, but I still had a good time with it, even with all its frustrations. It might not be a glowing recommendation, but if you have a fantasy itch to scratch and a little money to blow, hey, why not?

I had fun with The Unexpected Quest but its failure to challenge me made the experience less satisfying than it could have been.

As an adult and long time gamer, I feel this really is for a much younger crowd of players. It’s not necessarily a bad game, just very simple and easy with no real apparent challenge.

The lack of creative freedom and imposition of constricting rules when it comes to key decisions, as well as its short lifespan and slow pace, make The Unexpected Quest a lackluster game, whose lack of touchscreen controls further contribute to aggravate.

The campaign can be finished in about seven hours without any real difficulty or climax, and it holds no replay value beyond achievement hunting. The Unexpected Quest does scratch a certain itch for the good ol’ days of the RTS genre and the lack of difficulty makes it a solid buy for those who aren’t genre vets, but with just a little more on offer, this could have been a must-play.

The Unexpected Quest is unexpectedly short with only eight chapters and no variance offered upon replay. It is a decent time-waster of an RTS, but it is far from deeply engaging or exciting. Limited controls, the inability to place buildings where you want and one-on-one unit battles put a damper on the experience. This is not the game that will take the place of Warcraft as it feels like it never quite takes the training wheels off and there are better RTS experiences to be had, making this really only good for newcomers to the genre who need a gentle, simple pace.

Α very simple and 100% casual experience reminiscing of mobile games in a charming fantasy setting, good enough for chilling out and effortlessly spending your time.

If it’s not fun or rewarding it, why bother playing it? While I’ve certainly played worse clicker games, that doesn’t make The Unexpected Quest significantly better, and it really doesn’t mean that you need to waste your time with it.

Except for the very curious, this is one to avoid.

A laid-back title to play with your kids. While its strategy and adventure elements are quite casual, overall, the game is very enjoyable.

Remembering good old times in WoW you can't just pass through this game!

Unexpectedly easy to manage, this game definitely not RTS. It keeps you relaxed while playing and AI is really helpful for the management of your team. 8 chapters of the game are pretty linear, but in this case, I can't say this is cons.

I could recommend it for all who passionate about good old fun games with resource management and want to relax playing this one!
