    It's Skyrim portable. Hard to argue with that. Not much has changed. You get all the DLC, there are still bugs, and it's still the same amazing game it was for every other platform. A decade later did this game live up to the hype? Yes and no. The game has a high level of charm to it, with a vast world to explore and all sorts of quests to dive into, and decisions you have complete control over even to the point of the main story being nearly optional. That said the world is... mostly hideous. The NPCs are gross looking, the environments are drab and ultimately make Skyrim feel like a place you'd never want to live. The music is often dull, then soothing when it calls for it, and at it's best during big battles, which are certainly the highlight of this game. I would have loved more of that and less of the repetitive dungeon diving that made up most the game and it's quests (I swear some dungeons were just copy and pasted from previous ones with slight tweaks). So when you combine an ugly world with repetitive dungeons, it made this a rough game to stick with consistently. Oh, and the main story is essentially terrible until more than halfway through, which certainly doesn't help.

    All my gripes aside, I must say... there is a charm about this game. Maybe it's the laughably bad glitches (even the ones that are gamebreaking and you have to look up to fix), or the fact that you really can explore the whole world at your own leisure, truly doing whatever you want in any order you want. Maybe it's how cool the shouts make you feel, especially the one that made me feel like a Targaryen calling out my dragon to burn down forts. The unity of the factions you joined, how deep their stories go. I can't explain it but... though I could spend all day picking out the flaws in this game, something about it always made me come back with a smile on my face. I can only hope Elder Scrolls 6 takes the series to new heights, but as far as 5 goes, it truly was a fun time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game. The missions are great and I love the characters. Some real kindy generic but the better characters outweigh the bad.

    SPOILERS HERE: Near the end of the game when you help decide what happens in the war is great. Right after that meeting, the blades inform you that you have to kill paarthurnax if you want their help. But if you kill him the greybeards won't talk to you. it doesn't change the plot but it's a nice touch.

    Even tho the story is great I feel combat could be improved. It's kinda just based on who has more health or Magicka. I love the different spell variations. Different match up types adds a nice flare to using spells. Very much a must buy.

    the idea that this can be brought anywhere is neat, but something to keep in mind. If playing on battery, it'll probably only last a couple hours, if that. Skyrim dropped the battery fast. Also, there's quite a bit of glare on the screen, so dark areas are really hard to see. So you can crank up the screen brightness, but that of course drains the battery even faster. Otherwise, if you're just going to play with it plugged in all the time, you might as well play it on a laptop or nvidia shield.

    If you like the idea of playing skyrim in the palm of your hands but don't travel with it as often, I suggest one of Nvidias different shield options which mostly needs your wifi connection to play games via steam library, but you'll have your PC's horse power and all the bells and whistles.

    I constantly find myself comparing this game to the old Might and Magic games (6, 7 and 8 in particular) and finding it to be inferior to those games in most ways. The story has taken a back seat to open world freedom to the point that it is hard to deem the story as anything more than a throw away. Controls are clunky, at best. Leveling follows the Final Fantasy 2 model, which was bad then and is still bad now, unless you love doing tons of repetitive tasks that don't advance the story or provide any meaningful advancement for your character. Inventory management is clunky, and selling off your spools from a dungeon crawl will require visiting 5-10 different vendors, often requiring traveling to multiple cities. Dungeons themselves are linear paths with no puzzles. The world is big, but is fairly empty and contains nothing particularly interesting to look at. The world is brown, white, and dark green...that's it. The art team seems to have been trying to emulate Nordic forests in winter, and has some how managed to build a big empty world that is less appealing than those forests in reality (and yes, I have been to Scandinavia and Russia in winter).
    If you are really interested in playing a western RPG on Switch, then this game is fine. If you are looking for a great game, look elsewhere.

    I was hoping, that the bugfixes for PS3 and PC would have any influence on the Switch Version, but it looks to me, that the developers startet from scratch. When I first got Skyrim for Ps3, it was so unplayable, that I put it away for almost a year, until the worst issues had been patched. I am that close to do the same with the Switch version. Looking on an open pleateau gives you eye cancer, because you almost exclusively see low-res vegetation textures symetrically plastering the ground.
    Right now, I would suggest to play the PC Version, that way you get best graphic quality, performance, Mod support, and least amount of bugs. Skyrim on my Macbook Air is way more fun to play, and that says a lot, cause that thing is no game-graphic beast at all.

    I am disapointed. For being a full-priced game for 60 bucks, it is a slap in the face.

    - you are FORCED to travel around different shop owners to sell your merchandise. If you do not do it, you will be always overweighted;
    - all the caves are almost the same. You follow the route, fight the zombies, come to the final boss, pull the lever and appear near the entrance. Taps are visible, money not a big deal there, also learn new words. Ok. Same BS as in Oblivion except for shouts;
    - physical issues. It's just a disaster. Objects fly around, sometimes you need NoClip cheat to fly through the door. Thousands of threads on forums about that issue and NOTHING done to fix it in patches;

    The story is boring. The game is just boring. Morrowind was the whole new world. In Oblivion you at least could upgrade your athletics and acrobatics. Here you can crawl mountains without training anything, here you are slow. You should be a werewolf to run faster. Falling almost never causes any damage.

    Just one huge waste of time. I didn't even finish. Deleted and watched the rest on youtube. Recommend you doing the same to save your time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Skyrim is one of the most entertaining games I have played in a while and I have enjoyed it for over 130 hours now. It’s really worth playing and also has a high replay value thanks to all the different races with which you can roam the huge open world to collect the sheer endless amounts of weapons, armors, potions, spell books etc. But now comes the thing that ruined most of the game for me: the bugs. They reach from small annoying ones to some gamebreaking bugs that make some mayor quests like the thieves guild or the Dawnguard DLC‘s mainquest impossible to do.
    There are some fun little glitches and exploits that abuse the games design to the advantage of the player, but this doesn’t make up all of the bad moments I had because of the bad glitches. I think that Bethesda created one of the greatest games of all time, but to me the bugs and glitches ruined the magic feeling I had for the first hours of my playthrough.

    ....on PC and the Xbox One. Those versions, particularly PC, epitomize Skyrim's greatness. The Switch version, while obviously the same great game, suffers from two problems that make it virtually unplayable: horrifying input lag and poor framerate. The latter simply makes the Switch version seem graphically inferior compared to the power of the other platforms. The former though...absolutely terrible. I couldn't believe how bad the lag was even with the Switch not docked. I would guess it's around 80-100ms, maybe more. Simply looking at items on the ground to pick them up was difficult, let alone trying to hit a moving target with a bow or spell. I will say this is with a cartridge version; I can't speak for digital. But I returned that cartridge version after less than an hour of suffering.

    Skyrim is an amazing game and I really, really, really wanted to love it on the Switch. But the devastating input lag, poor framerate and graphical inferiority just ruin it on the Switch. Again, I love Skyrim and I definitely love the Switch, but this iteration of Skyrim is so rough around the edges it cuts your freaking hands. I wholeheartedly recommend both Skyrim and the Switch, but stay far away from Skyrim on the Switch.

If Skyrim did not have any mods, it would have died out along time ago. The game by itself is frickin impossible to like. It has probably the worst combat I have ever played. All you do is spam R2 and block with L1. No variety to combos. However, theHow this game is so praised even to date is beyond me. The only reason that people think it’s good is because of mods. Anyhow, the AI is so clunky that no game comes even close to being that bad (Except a certain Mass Effect). I had to look on the internet multiple times to fix the AI. Then the bugs were even worse. I got spoiled most of the story (Even though it was pretty generic) because there were numerous glitches and bugs with quest lines. I just can’t touch it anymore. Expand

    this game is so bad. it is buggy, RPG mechanics removed, choices removed, crafting dumbed down, weapon and armor designs are mostly oversized and ugly.
    if not for mod suppport, this game would definitely be rated so much worse.

    This game is so bad. Skyrim is not good even for 2011. I don't understand why most people love this. Most overrated RPG of all time.

    I'm sorry but this game was not remastered, they didn't fix any of the bugs. They had a chance to fix everything that was breaking the game but instead they added new textures to things like water. I would be fine with a fun port for the Nintendo Switch if it was at least sold for a discount. What actually happened here? They are charging full price for a game that came out six years ago.I'm sorry but this game was not remastered, they didn't fix any of the bugs. Sure it was fun and can still be fun but just get it for like $5 on the PC Expand

    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is without a doubt my favorite game of all time. The role-playing possibilities are incredible in such an accessible RPG.

    Unfortunately, this rendition of the game is absolutely the WORST way to play it. Skyrim on the Switch had so much potential taking a living, breathing Elder Scrolls world and transport it on the go. Bethesda chose to focus 100% of their time

    Unfortunately, this rendition of the game is absolutely the WORST way to play it. Skyrim on the Switch had so much potential taking a living, breathing Elder Scrolls world and transport it on the go. Bethesda chose to focus 100% of their time attempting to downscale the game to the capabilities of the Switch rather than fix any of the bugs that have plagued the game since launch. Furthermore, in the process they have seemingly created more bugs. I purchased a digital copy of the game and the game consistently crashes to the home screen. The problem has become worse and worse the longer I play. It should be said that the industry typically gives Bethesda a pass for their buggy games, but this is the breaking point. Graphical or AI bugginess can be good for a laugh, but I can't play the game if it won't keep from crashing to the Nintendo home screen.

    After re-downloading the software with no resolution, I actually went so far as to initialize my entire Switch console for resolution, but the issue continued after only 4 minutes of play in the open world. Were this the original PC copy or any of the Remastered Special Edition, I'd be giving this game a 9.5/10 , but due to bugginess in a 7 year old cash grab for a Bethesda I've got to drop the score by an incredible amount.

    1/10 unplayable

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In the videogame Skyrim, I create mods that spawn cheese, kill Fondle, and slaughter zombies with a potato. I also replace the statue of a woman holding a statue of a sword with a weeping man holding a statue of a sword that isn't an actual sword. And then I buy the woman a copy of Limbo.

    I'm a god.

    I call myself Diablo the Cheater. As far as I know, I'm the only person who writes a list of cheating cheats and uses it in-game. My mod turned the game into an interdimensional sex simulator (powered by a **** necromancer), and I use that game on a daily basis. To date, I've cheated in thirty games. Twenty-one of them were developed by other users, and the other two were made by me.

    And today, this **** is named after me.

    I use a relatively simple cheat to game console games. What I do is turn the switch on the controller I use into a button on the console, and then I press it to trigger cheats that give me a better experience. Here's what those che.

    My save broke and now it crashes when I go anywhere in a huge area west of Solitude. I'm level 23 and I have to revert to a save from level 12 to fix that area, and maybe it'll bug out again anyhow.

    Bethesda keep reselling this game and they still can't spend some money on fixing the bugs or at least provide a service where they fix your savefile online. I'd actually pay someone to fix

    Bethesda is the worst game developer. None of the known bugs were fixed. But that was not enough for them and they added even more. Every 5 minutes or even more often, you can hear audio noise. 60EUR for a broken game, that's so adorable.

    Anyone who dreamed of exploring Skyrim on the go or during prolonged toilet sessions, will instantly forgive a slight downgrade needed to ensure fluidity (the game almost always runs at 30 fps). Apart from some visual trade-offs and a bit of exclusive Nintendo content (e.g. Link’s outfit) it’s the same game you know and possibly love. [01/2018, p.50]
