    Tetris Effect is getting perfect scores from both users and critics and I don't quite get why.
    This is certainly a solid Tetris game but compared to other versions of Tetris the only standout feature is that you get a dynamic soundtrack which adapts to the gameplay.
    It's a nice gimmick if you like the music but is it worth spending $30 if you already have another decent Tetris game like    Tetris Effect is getting perfect scores from both users and critics and I don't quite get why.

    It's a nice gimmick if you like the music but is it worth spending $30 if you already have another decent Tetris game like e.g. Tetris 99? Probably not. Another minor issue is that some of the visual effects can be distracting and lack the visual clarity that it so imporant in a Tetris game.

    Overall, Tetris Effect is a full package with different singleplayer and multiplayer modes. If this is your first Tetris game on Switch this is a good choice. If you already have access to other Tetris games that offer a singleplayer and multiplayer mode this will not add much value.    … Expand

    A well done port of one of the best versions of Tetris. The phenomenal audio-visual experience is retained in this edition, and is only slightly compromised by the Switch's hardware. This version does have the advantage of portability and HD Rumble, which adds to the immersion of the experience; so it's certainly worth picking up, especially if you don't own Effect on another platform.

It looks, runs and plays well and the audio is quite outstanding. What's the problem, you ask? There is nothing to do with this game. People criticize games like Mario Golf or Mario Tennis for lack of mods, but for someTetris Effect Connected is perhaps the best version of Tetris that was ever created. While playing it, you'll feel like you experience an unlimited number of journeys. It looks, runs and plays well and the audio is quite outstanding. What's the problem, you ask? There is nothing to do with this game. People criticize games like Mario Golf or Mario Tennis for lack of mods, but for some reason nobody talks about this game. Journey mode is very fun, but you can finish it in an hour or so. Challenge mod can be beaten around the same length but is way less interesting. The online mode is also quite lacking. You have couple of modes, and unlike other games like Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris DS in all of them you pretty much play the same old Tetris Effect with different uninteresting gimmicks. There are some interesting stuff here and there, but nothing stands out at all. And now, for the thing that absolutely kills this game for me. You cannot play without internet. You heard it right. No one mentions it and it drives me crazy. Tetris, a game that was a perfect fit for handles like the Gameboy due to it's easy pick-up-and-play nature cannot be played on the go? This is outrageous. All this sweet package is not chip though, and will cost you 40$. It is simply unacceptable that this game has such high scores. Unfortunately, I must suggest you'll skip this one folks.

    Tetris Effect: Connected is a masterpiece and one of the best in the Tetris Series. With very good single player modes and great multiplayer modes. It's a easy recommendation to everyone.

    God this game is overrated, it's just tetris with music and some shiny visuals you won't probably look at because you will be looking at the blocks. I played Tetrinet in 1997 and this was far better for the multiplayer. Sounds like many people rating this game highly have not played much else or are way too much into Tetris.     How the **** do you improve upon perfection? That is the question I thought when I first saw Tetris Effect: Connected, but truly they have. The original Tetris is a timeless masterpiece, and I am happy to say that this improves upon that beautiful game in the best ways. Yes, games like Battlefield, Doom, and Red Dead Redemption 2 have adaptive music, but nothing to the extent of this. Every button press, line clearing, block switch, is immortalized in your memory from the adaptive music. Tetris not well known for 2 players, but Tetris Effect adds some very needed variety with new game modes and the new time stop mechanic.

    This is a true masterpiece, 10 out of 10, must play. Even for people who don't like video games, this is great!    … Expand

    It's absurd how media is giving so good notes just for the fact that have released on released on Switch.
    This only proves how poor is the library on the Switch.This game first ver was released on 2019. 3 years later , you hear it right, 3 friggin years later is finally getting a port to the Switch.     Great version of Tetris. I’ve had some issues with online - mainly not finding any players until I restart the game, and periods of repeated crashing. Also, playing in the TV the game itself takes up such a small amount of the screen that it strains the **** out of your eyes. But I the end it’s a fun, compulsive and fresh version of a great game.

    The outstanding level of polishness of this game and the love they have put on it is something remarkable, and it just became better for a takeaway anywhere. Do yourself a favor a buy this game. Your soul will thank you.

    Tetris Effect is simultaneously one of the most accessible puzzle games out there, but also one of the most in depth for experts. It just gets a bit repetitive standing on its lonesome. I also found it difficult to find allies, even with cross play. With luck and time, that may change.

    Luckily the solo Journey experience remains a must play piece of gameplay, there's a strong variety of Versus modes for those who can handle it, and it suits the Switch ideally, making strong use of the HD Rumble in particularly.     Easily the best version of tetris yet. The way the music alters the speed of gameplay is brilliant.

    Lots of modes allow beginners to have a relaxing game and experts the challenge they need.

    I thought some reviews were a bit over generous as it is still just tetris with a very high price tag but still a very enjoyable game.

    I really do not like modern tetris. I bought this game, and it's fine, but what I have come to realize is that the positive reviews are because people are kind of babies now, and they don't like tetris to be challenging. When I do poorly in this game, it is usually because of the controls, not because of proper game design.

    The NES mode is fun, but it needs solo play.

    It's cool, but its super over priced for what you get with the switch version. I bought it on sale and think I still paid way too much when a game like Tetris 99 is free. The multiplayer is good when it works properly, but besides that it's another highly overrated game. Get the legit VR version or just play Tetris 99 for free.

    First of all, this is a Tetris game, and Tetris is always fun. The new twist that effect brings to the Tetris series is extremely intriguing. The music and visuals combine in such a way to make Tetris effect what I can only call an out-of-body experience. The heavy focus on graphics and music do not take away from the gameplay though, as Tetris itself is already a mesmerizing game. PlayingFirst of all, this is a Tetris game, and Tetris is always fun. Playing Tetris effect is almost meditative, as it completely clears your mind from anything going on outside of the game.

    The multiplayer modes are more than I could ever ask for from a Tetris game. The fact that there’s a mode with old school Tetris rules is extremely cool, and I’ve had a lot of fun playing score attack against my mom who also happens to be a big Tetris fan. but it’s kind of hard to get into an online match without waiting forever. If you’re looking for a good online multiplayer experience for Tetris, I’d recommend puyo puyo Tetris.

    Another thing to note, is that it runs flawlessly despite the fact that we’re talking about the switch version. I’d still recommend getting it on pc or PlayStation though, because those consoles have vr, and I imagine that vr is the optimal way to play the game.

    Overall, Tetris effect is an amazing game that decides to go in a direction that the series hasn’t really experimented with in the past, and it does this extremely well. This game is all about atmosphere, and if you enjoy games like ABZÛ, I highly recommend tetris effect.    … Expand

    It's good, but it is only Tetris. The campaign scales up nicely and is satisfying, best play on a big screen though (or VR)

    this game is really addictive. i managed to complete this game journey 3 times in normal and medium difficulty. for the expert mode im only reach half of it.
