    This game is insanely hard!

The difficulty may put some people off, but for many this is one of the selling points of the game. Personally, I thought I'd be up to the challenge but now I think the game's defeated me. It's fun to get through a level you've been stuck on for ages, or go for a new best time on a level you've mastered - leaderboards help keep track of this. However, although I had a good time with the first half of the game, the difficulty really ramps up and I felt like it became too difficult for me to enjoy. This isn't necessarily a fault of the game, but the crushing difficulty and the fact that I died thousands of times impeded my enjoyment and caused me to give up before finishing Super Meat Boy. I understand that there's a market for this kind of experience, but I suppose I'm not a part of it.

Give the game a go if you're into a challenge! However, bear in mind that this isn't exactly a relaxing gaming experience.

Originally released in 2010 by Team Meat, Super Meat Boy is a challenging 2d platformer where you play as a boy with no skin, whose in love with bandage girl, whom is kidnapped by Dr. Fetus; a fetus in a jar, in a tuxedo with a monocle. Super Meat Boy must win her back.

With only a few buttons at your disposal you can jump and run. Holding jump longer allows you to jump higher, running increases your speed and allows you to jump further. Depending on the world you are in the environment contains many different hazards for meat boy to maneuver through. Spinning blades, salt piles, and hypodermic needle stacks will end meat boy with just one touch. As Super Meat Boy is an incredibly difficult game, get ready to die and die a lot. With a fantastic level replay mode upon completion you watch all of the lives lost in the current level, some flooding the screen with your failed attempts. After playing the game on almost every system it’s been released on, I can tell that this never gets old.

The developers created this as an homage to the wonderfully difficult games of the past and since the release in 2010, meat boy has inspired many indie developers of today. The tight controls and fast re-entry have shown up in many indie games since and for good reason. Super Meat Boy was and is a fantastically mechanized platformer that feels great when falling through levels with pinpoint precision. While I’ve scene on Reddit some concerns of input lag, I haven’t had any issues and once i reacclimated myself with the controls. Boy do they feel great.

New with the Nintendo Switch edition is race mode, playing head to head with a bud in a local co-op trying to beat a number of levels first. You can choose 10, 20, 30, or 40 levels to race through. Light and/ or dark levels and play them in random order or in a normal worlds progression. If both playing the same level you can see your opponent which throws you off at first, but is great because you can see the other player die. Which is the perfect motivation to get you through those tough challenges.

If you have played Super Meat Boy which most of us have then the Switch version if a perfect opportunity to jump into this wacky challenging world once more. The addition of race mode is absolutely worth it to battle a buddy at a bar.

If you have never played Super Meat Boy, littered with secret worlds and unlocks, there is so much content in this amazing platformer to keep you hooked for many many hours. Many have considered this a modern day classic and I am absolutely one of them.

Fast paced and even faster to the point: rescue your love interest. A game that is incredibly difficult but that is part of the fun really. A game should strive to be challenging and Super Meat Boy certainly delivers. Highly recommended

Took me a long time to pick up this tile and was amazed at how entertaining this game is.

For some reason i cant stop playing, even after dying multiple times at one level i just go back and back.

Great game and must play for platform fans.

Great 2d game that is similar to Celeste. Even when you die for the 50th time in a level, you can't help but keep pushing on until you final get to the end of a stage. Lent mine to a friend and I think I'm gonna have to rebuy to play again.

The controls are way too momentum based and slidey. This might have been ok on PC where you can rapidly tap left / right, but on the switch stick it's like mario ice level for every level. I aim to A+ most dark levels (and have almost every dark level A+-ed) so I use the run button a lot. The problem is the run button on switch is in an awkward place to hold; especially in handheld mode. A toggle option for run will save a lot of people a lot of RSI.

By far the worst mechanics in the game are:
    1. Fans - finnicky
    2. Falling off ledges vertically - you sort of run off a ledge and 1 of 3 things can happen randomly, and you just pray it's the right one.
    3. Sticky wall grab. The wall grab is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too sticky. Holding the opposite direction while wallgrabbing should let go way faster than it currently does.

Most light levels are a pleasure to play. This is probably where all the positive reviews come from.
I find that many dark levels are horribly designed. I have no problem with hard levels, especially if they're fun. I have many dark level top 10s scores on Switch. I do have a problem with hard levels that just aren't fun. Hard for the sake of being hard is freaking stupid. A good number of dark levels are hard in a very finicky way and just don't feel good to play.

The port has also been kind of buggy for me. I had one time where the game just won't save my progress no matter what, after an update. A few system restarts fixed the issue. There's also one of the worm dark levels that can have a worm appear on the floor, rendering your run impossible. Audio hitches. A lot of wierd 0.02 second scoreboard scores.

I think some attention could also be paid to the colors; some dark world levels are just too dark for a Nintendo Switch handheld screen, esp outdoors, even at max brightness.

Great game! But if you expect to get the same awesome Music by Danny Baranowsky like in the earlier versions of the Game, then be prepared to be disappointed. The change of the style of Music takes the soul of the Game. This only gives me half of the experience I got with the original Game.

One of my favorite indie games, turned unplayale for me because the soundtrack, 1/3 of what made it great, was gone without advice. There should at least be a giant red glowing button on the shop page so you wouldn't do this tremendous mistake of wasting 15$

    # If you loved the soundtrack, then don't buy that port #

The game is really good without a doubt. The goal is pretty simple. All you have to do is running and reach finish line as quick as possible. I think that's why people loved that game in 2010' And the second thing, which made this title so special is the sountrack. So the question is.. WHY THE HECK they don't mentioned on

And the second thing, which made this title so special is the sountrack. So the question is.. WHY THE HECK they don't mentioned on e-shop, that the game has totally different soundtrack? I don't care if the music license has ended. Business is business and I am fine with that. But they should say something about that and warn the players like me, who know the original and wanna buy another copy of the game on different platform..

I encourage you to try this game, but be sure that you have the right version, not the cut one.

This game can be beaten in about 6 hours despite each level beign designed to be beaten in less than 20 seconds..
The hook of this game is its frustratingly addictive difficulty
The mechanics of Super Meat Boy is simple, which makes it so easy to pick up and in turn so easy to forgive as youre dying over and over..
You jump, run jump, or wall jump…
    Nothing else…
Its up to you to use these mechanics to maneuver through the games many obstacle courses of blades, lava, and salt.. and you only have one life to do this…
The difficulty of levels is really up and down..
And this is thanks to the game constantly adding new obstacles and enemies to deal with as the game goes on…
When a new mechanic is introduced it will slow down a bit..
This in turn creates a great pacing.. the levels aren’t constantly smacking you over the head with difficulty..
Youll at times get a nice breather…
But when levels are hard theyre hard…
and despite them making you want to pull your hair out, its just as hard to put down the controller and walk away.. at least for a little while…
For me the Charm of super meat boy started to wear off by chapter 3..
I was over the hook of dying and retrying, but that’s mostly because of the kind of gamer I am…
Im not into punishment for more than a little while..
But if you are one of those sick freaks that likes getting to the point of wanting to break your controller, Super Meat Boy is a great platformer full of collectables to unlock new characters, hidden levels, charm, great characters, and surprisingly engaging boss battles that only feel cheap the first 100 times you die…
    I give Super Meat Boy
    an 8/10

It's addicting. Completing levels and collecting bandages is satisfying, and the almost instant restarts make failure less punishing. However, the more difficult levels often require developing muscle memory to succeed, fast and precise inputs are necessary, and I definitely felt some pain in my hands when playing it for extended periods of time. Finishing seemingly-impossible levels after countless failures is incredibly satisfying, sometimes. Sometimes, it feels empty and nothing more than a skinner box.

I almost quit early on account of the kinda gross way Bandage Girl is gratuitously beaten up at the end of most every level (there seems to be a range of accompanying visuals for this). Like its clearly intending to be satiric or sardonic or whatever and taken as a joke to go along with the rest of the game's toilet humor. Most of the toilet humor is good enough, but this part of it falls flat and rises to the point of just sorta being out-of-place and unnecessarily cruel cartoon violence focused mostly but not exclusively on a woman. (Notably, equivalent animations do not seem to play when Meat Boy is kidnapped.) Its overall okay but I probably won't ever go back to play it again.

It was the most addicting game ever. My wife hated it. It’s absolutely not fun to watch someone else play this game or get reprimanded for walking in front of the screen and causing player death. What is fun is defeating an incredibly difficult level with an incredibly fast time, and seeing your name high on the leaderboard, after 100 tries and 100 deaths. What makes a person want to play the same levels 100 times you ask??? What makes this possible are levels that only take seconds to beat, great physics based gameplay, and nonexistent load times. Many times it seems like straight forward execution of the course, but more often than not there is an alternate route most players are not seeing, that when executed nearly perfect will lead you to the top. I hope Super Meat Boy Forever is this good when it is finally released!!!!!! Expand

A precision platformer of the die & retry kind.
It's one of those games I constantly told myself "Come on, another try!" after fails, and fails I had plenty in this game.
Its art style also stands out: Basic graphics on the one hand, grandiose OST with its symphonic metal tunes on the other.

As a side note contrary to what the majority of negative reviews are saying, very little of this game is random. the objects never move and each enemy is weak to a particular set of inputs e.g. oobs are week to circular motion, missiles are weak to microtapping left or right in time. Takes practice but pracrtically every random aspect can be broken down to a hard but repeatable input sequence. Claiming this game is all random chance is entriely a skill issue.
