Fun, unexpected and fosters cooperation among friends. These are its three greatest achievements. Thanks to these things, it should capture the attention of the Nintendo fanbase that finds it among the never ending eShop list of the console.

All up, Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a fun game to play with a group of people in the quick match modes and not s’bad with 2-player co-op in story mode, but playing by yourself just doesn't have the same level as fun about it, not being able to trash talk and laugh with your cohorts. It’s not terrible but just not the same.

There are tons of multiplayer modes, but the best of them is the mock game show Wheel of Rumpus. In short, you should probably get this game. This is our Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure review for Nintendo Switch.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe fully deserves a place among Nintendo Switch's already amazing line up of local multiplayer titles. It's accessible yet deceptively deep twin stick-based mechanics make for a decent amount of challenge in the solo campaign, even if it's a little on the short side. Even with no online, using bots or getting up to five other friends involved, multiplayer matches are a joy and always thoroughly entertaining. Striking a great balance between cooperative and competitive play styles, It's combination of charming presentation and witty retro humour are sure to keep the laughs coming regardless of player demographic.

While Stikbold is a worthwhile multiplayer experience, the cooperative adventure mode is what sets it apart from other multiplayer-focused titles. Players looking for a primarily single-player experience will be disappointed by the adventure’s short length. However, those seeking a compact experience and a go-to party game for groups of multiple skill levels will find Stikbold up to the task.

A high launch price and a lack of online multiplayer mar what is an otherwise enjoyable local multiplayer romp. If you have loads of friends locally then Stikbold - A Dodgeball Adventure is certain to bring laughs, at least until the next great local multiplayer game comes along.

Stikbold lacks any kind of narrative or gameplay substance to be a compelling single player game. Sadly, it’s all too simple to be an effective multiplayer title, either. It’s passingly fun.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe is a title that is quirky, if nothing else, and seems to pride itself on being silly fun. For those who aren't looking for an authentic dodgeball experience, but would like to throw dodgeballs at friends and family, then this title has some merit and can be an enjoyable time. Those playing in a casual setting will find the most enjoyment out of Stikbold!, but the balance and design overall will leave a lot of people frustrated, bored, or both.

When I began playing Stikbold and the opening scene was playing, at first I thought, huh janky animations and minecraft like characters. ThisWhen I began playing Stikbold and the opening scene was playing, at first I thought, huh janky animations and minecraft like characters. This doesn’t seem very original, boy was I wrong. The moment I pegged an opponent with my first dodgeball throw, my eyes widened…

    This...this is fun

    Game on!
Playing from an isometric perspective, you have a number of different tools as your disposal. Running into a ball to pick it up, you then hold throw to launch the ball at your opponent. Aiming with the left joystick, throwing the same direction that you’re running in or engaging the right joystick to aim in a twin-stick shooter fashion, although aiming with the right joystick isn’t very accurate, I tended to stick with the left.

When you are not holding a ball you can hit your opponent to make them drop the ball or to push them out of bounds. Pressing B is your dodge which you can use to jump out of the way of an incoming ball, jump toward the ball to get to it faster than your opponent, or catch a ball aimed at you.

If you get hit once, you’ll see stars and if you get hit before your stars are gone, you’re OUT! Playing on a team, gives you the opportunity to be revived by your teammates, but no matter the team size, when your whole team is knocked down, the opposing team gets a point. Three points and game, set, match.

    Old game, new tricks
Stikbold is meant to be a co-op experience which when you have the extra players at the house YES! This game is a fun, competitive, whacky game that will certainly get those Switch party moments the Switch was designed for, BUT if you typically only play single player this game still has a lot to offer.

The campaign does a lot to break away from just a bunch of matches in different locations. While at it base, it is just that, but the cutscenes are uniquely funny. Which introduce you to new characters and level specific mechanics that break the matches out of the norm. When you think you’ve mastered the basics, honey hurling hippies smashing into you with their van can throw you right on your butt. While the entire play through won’t take you more than 2 or 3 hours, after each stage you unlock a new character that you can play in other game modes and is well worth the experience.

    Make it Deluxe
The Deluxe edition on Nintendo Switch comes with some great new updates. Allowing more co-op players instead of 4, you can play with 6. They’ve also added a cooky new mode called Wheel of Rumpus. Inspired by 70s television game shows, each player spins the wheel landing on a different challenge. The winner getting to customize their character with some great swag after each match.

Stikbold is one of the best co-op games on the Switch, with a simple control scheme that won’t intimate your non-gamer buds, a great variety of single player modes to satisfy the commuting gamer, and a personality to make everyone smile…

Stikbold will brighten up parties from Copenhagen to Brooklyn,
