    Overall, Soundfall is a fun music-based experience that isn’t doing anything remarkably new, but what it does, it does well. The guns feel good to shoot, the environments are enjoyable and dance along to the music, and the tracklist is filled with a variety of certified bangers. If you’re looking for a rhythm game to kill a few hours with, Soundfall is worth a peek.

    Soundfall is a superb game that manages to marry several different genres together. It would be more accessible with an auto-perfect timing option, but even without it, it’s a fun experience for twin-stick shooting fans while also working as a way for rhythm -centric players to explore a different genre. As a twin-stick shooter, it’s exciting and as a rhythm game, it offers a level of variety that is unmatched in the genre. The soundtrack is top-tier and made better on PC with custom soundtracks as an option to integrate fully into the game. Soundfall is a must-have for anyone seeking out a new twin-stick shooter or just wanting to try something new that’s unlike anything out there.

    Soundfall is interesting and original, but stumbles in its execution. The marriage of rhythm gameplay with a twin-stick shooter is a rocky one, and it’s hard not to think this would be a stronger game overall if it were focused solely on either the shooting or the rhythm elements. It can work harmoniously, but also causes frustration when its two halves pull you in different directions. Yet despite its clumsy moments, we’d still give Soundfall a solid recommendation, as its diverse and catchy soundtrack, RPG-esque character progression, and high replayability make this one easy to love. It maybe could’ve used more practice, but Soundfall overall delivers a strong performance.

    Soundfall hits the dungeon crawler genre as an interesting double stick shooter looter with tons of music and a great challenge in cooperative mode. However, its exaggerated monotonous development hampers the experience, especially for the single player mode.

    Soundfall might sound pretty great on paper, but the execution could have been better. It’s missing the creativity that could have elevated it to greater heights. What we’re left with is a promising shooter that falls into repetition disappointingly often.

Even without the ability to import songs on Switch, you won't be bothered at all, because what you already have is diverse and catchy all around. It's also equally well suited to single and multiplayer - a rarity in the genre. Yes it can get a little repetitive, but as you're more focused on the music and what track comes next, it hardly matters.

    There is however one major issue that stopped me from enjoying the game. Calibration issues. At the time of writing these have yet to be addressed. No matter how much I tweak the video and/or audio calibration, there is always a significant delay between when I press the button and when an action happens on screen, which is a death sentence for rhythm games. Combined with some actions being naturally delayed anyway, such as swining your melee weapon, and you'll just keep getting thrown off. As someone with a lot of rhythm game experience, I was hoping to go for 100% completion. To do so requires you to never miss a beat in every stage, which is currently impossible.

    This concern happened to me in handheld mode on an OLED Switch, but I don't appear to be alone in it. I hope this matter is addressed soon, because the game deserves all the attention I can give it, if only it would work properly.    … Full Review »

    Ambitious shmup with looter shooter elements that requires the players to have a sense of rythm. The best part of the game is the couch coop.
