Sky Force Anniversary is an intense and well-designed shmup that’s a fitting addition to the Nintendo Switch. It’s great for long sessions as their are numerous medals and collectibles to grab in docked mode as well as short commute sessions in handheld mode. A few more story elements would have been ideal but the game’s addicting gameplay and upgrade system are enough to keep the player hooked. If it’s a high adrenaline bullet hell experience you’re looking to add to your Nintendo Switch collection, look no further than Sky Force Anniversary.

Sky Force Anniversary is a shoot'em up with some innovative details. It is very addictive, challenging and ideal for both new and veteran players. The game is very fun both alone and with company.

Trying to acquire each of the medals on playthroughs feels different enough to prevent things from getting too repetitive, and there's always the challenge of trying to get them all in one go. If you want to test your skills then the additional difficulties that can be unlocked will scratch that itch, and there's also replayability in trying to improve your score. As enjoyable as this is, it's something that has already been done - and done well - by Sky Force Reloaded. But if you've already played through that and are looking for more, then Sky Force Anniversary provides another batch of missions to sink your teeth into - albeit with a few less bells and whistles.

Sky Force Anniversary is an endearing, if a bit repetitive, take on shoot 'em ups.

Sky Force Anniversary is a slick-looking game that is easy to pick up, play and enjoy for a while, but just be prepared to put in some serious time repeating levels if you want to make it to the end of this air raid with all your wings intact.

Sky Force Anniversary features some of the elements that are most appreciated by shoot'em up fans and adds to that an accessible gameplay and an interesting visual environment. It does less well when it comes to its content, which feels short and repetitive, and it doesn't pass the challenge of standing up to another game of the same series, also made available in the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Sky Force Anniversary is a visually stunning game, but it can’t make up for the shallowness of its mechanics. With a superior sequel available on the Switch for the same price, it is hard to justify bothering with this release.

Lush shmup graphics, and co op works well , too much real estate on screen to navigate in single player. Challenge is tough (great) , sound is suitably retro. However skyforce reloaded has aced it in every single department. Expand
