Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation - The Endless Seven-Day Journey is an extremely charming adventure. Being a sort of slice of life simulator with a very characteristic humor, the game let us spend a summer full of peace and fun alongside endearing characters and activities that, although they do not stand out in the gameplay, know how to convey in a wonderful way the spirit of what it is to spend a quiet summer vacation as a Japanese child. All this with a good slice of fantasy, something characteristic of Shin Chan's trademark.

Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey- is exactly what the trailer promised. It’s a heartfelt summer vacation sim mixed with Stardew Valley-style side quests mixed in with a sprinkle of time travel and dinosaurs, because why not?

Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is easy to fall in love with and difficult to forget. Ten hours spent with this charming game recharged my batteries almost like a real summer break and proved that you can use this medium to tell stories of happy childhood without moralizing or preying on nostalgia.

Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey- is an easy recommendation to any fan of Shin Chan, but also to those who love slice of life comfort games. You don’t need to be familiar with the franchise to enjoy what’s on offer, but those who are will absolutely adore this outlandish adventure featuring the beloved and crude kindergartener. If you’re ready to spend your summer vacation catching bugs, fighting dinosaurs, and taking in the beautiful sights this quaint Kyushu village has to offer, Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey- is just a train ride away.

It looks gorgeous on the OLED screen, and has a memorable cast that is elevated by the voice acting and great atmosphere here.

Fans of Shin-chan, Bokunatsu, Attack of the Friday Monsters, or those who just enjoy a bit of slow-life low-pressure adventure will likely appreciate Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation. It could be a little fuller, and I don’t know how to feel about how it wraps up its story, but it’s unique, silly, and nostalgic in all the right ways.

Apart from mashing together two classic Japanese IPs, Shin chan: The Endless Seven-Day Journey mashes together some quite contradictory concepts and comes up with something special. You have the directionless, simple adventures of a child’s curiosity on a rural holiday, but they’re interrupted quite suddenly by a tightly directed (and completely absurd) plot. Wacky sitcom energy quickly becomes the drive and purpose in a game that could have been merely a wholesome meander-em-up. So there is the soothing magic of endless days running round fields and just seeing what catches the imagination, but also a heavy steer to play a story from end to end, packaging the never-ending summer into a punchy and dynamic 15-20 hours. Knowing now what Kureshin and Bokunatsu are, if you think you like the idea of mixing the two, this game is very easy to recommend.

I came into The Endless Seven-Day Journey expected to revel in its recreation of the leisurely days of summer. I didn’t expect I’d leave it with a whole town full of characters I’m genuinely delighted by. And that’s why I enjoyed being in this world as much as I did. It’s an altruistic bit of nicecore gaming that plays like a warm memory of youth. Even if I don’t care for Crayon Shin-chan, this is a game I’m going to return to when I need a break from adulting all day.

Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation - The Endless Seven-Day Journey is good and sometimes great. If you love old Animal Crossing and modern Persona games, the slice of life experience here may get its hooks into you quite deep. It’s not perfect though, and I think your mileage is going to vary on some of its slower aspects. Still, I can’t believe this was released worldwide in the first place. What a time to be alive.

Shin chan is like that one holiday at a campsite in the south of France, when summer seemed endless, you made friends effortlessly and finding a shiny card in a pack of trading cards was the highest goal in life. Whether you relax or get bored of that is something to decide for yourself.

Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation - The Endless Seven-Day Journey may be a mouthful to say but the game is a charming little title that is one of the most relaxing times a player can seek. While it won't appeal to everyone with its slow meandering gameplay, those who want to feel like a child on a holiday will find a memorable experience. A great, child and family friendly, experience.

Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation delivers on its promise of making us feel like children through the carefree eyes of Shinnosuke, using the sense of humor of the anime, which will please the fans. But the extremely slow pacing and limited gameplay (it feels like a graphic novel) won't be for everyone.

I've read that this game isn't for everyone, but that ain't true. The say it because of the slow pacing gameplay, well, then is Doom Eternal a 7 because of it's extremely fast gameplay? No, it's not.

You can change the day speed in the settings of the game from really calmed down to really fast, depending if you want to get the 100% in one playthrough or not. The normal speed makes a day 30 minutes long, i'ts great for a first playthrough, because you need to replay it to get the 100% (all bugs, fish, newspaper articles, dinosaur battles, etc.) but replaying it is really enjoyable.

    Let's talk about the music:
This game has one of the most relaxing soundtracks i've ever heard. The title song repeats very often, but due to the short duration of the game (9-12 hours) you don't really get tired of it.
Then the intro and outro song, it is great. It is a really great song that fits really well the theme of the game, i love it.
The rest of the music is awesome too and it will make you feel more immersed in the game.

Now, let's talk about the graphics: 10/10, they're beautiful and the background is hand drawn. The 3D models are great too, very good looking, have a bit of aliasing on Switch.

Now, let's talk about the gameplay: Kinda like Stardew Valley but even MORE relaxed. It's great, I loved it. I mean, there are cool bugs. You can make the goddamn ass dance. The controls are awesome, but the dinosaur battles are unbalanced, they should fix that.

Now, let's talk about the new characters: Cap, Lalako, Yoyoko, Jiro, Saburo, Ichiro, Motto Yamada, the Professor and Ginga.
They're all great and have their own personalities, everyone but the ones we already knew that are slightly changed (Bu Chan, Kine, Kazuma, Masaya). They would just make the game feel like an episode of the anime, if it wasn't for...

THE HUMOR: It's so weak compared to the anime, it seems like the devs wanted to make it friendly for everyone without the jokes about Shin Chan going behind every woman he finds (even though he does this once, but he doesn't really say or do nothing funny), or Hiroshi doing the exact same (Hiroshi doesn't do it in the whole game), or even Shin Chan misbehaving (he acts like an angel, doesn't call his mother fat). It may contribute to the feeling of peace the game gives, but it breakes the Shin Chan humor. I laughed really hard a few times though.

And now let's speak about the translation: I found it great, as they translated correctly the names of the fictional brands and put the correct amount of idioms. Shin Chan doesn't say "mirienda", and that **** sucks.

THE STORY: Well, it's ok, i'ts like a Shin Chan movie. They have a little weird story progression system, it works like this; You play normally (talk to people, get bugs or fish or fruit or vegetables, explore), make time pass, go to sleep, next day, get up, something important related with what they told you (on dinner, breakfast or a normal converstation) happens, you play the mission that I think is obligatory to do (never really tried to skip them) and then the mission will get marked as done in the "Summer Memories" menu (they're pretty much like the Stardew Valley festivals, without the summer memories thing).
There is kind of a background story, but it's pretty short and it all ends very briefly.

    CONCLUSSION (TL:DR):
It's great, buy it. I am not asking. Great music, gameplay, graphics, story, everything.
I give it a 10, but it has a small inconvinience, when you start a new game + you have to see all the intro again from the begininng, the intro is cool but when you end the game once you've already seen it thrice.
Everything else is great, if you like Shin Chan (or even if you don't) buy it. But hey, slow down, enjoy it. There is no need to rush it. You can slow down the time speed, or not.
After all you decide how to play and how to enjoy it, and the game gives you tools to do so. That's why I think it's a game for everyone, and why it's so awesome.

Its a wonderful game. If you ever wanted to put your hands on a "Boku no Natsuyasumi" game but couldnt because they never got released out ofIts a wonderful game. If you ever wanted to put your hands on a "Boku no Natsuyasumi" game but couldnt because they never got released out of japan, or if you liked "Attack of the Friday Monsters" then you are gonna love this, since is made by the same studio and director under similar concepts. It does a wonderful job at recreating the feeling of being a kid living a summer vacation in a rural zone of japan. Is also ridiculously beautiful, the backgrounds look like they belong to a Ghibli movie and the summery atmosphere is really well done, youll be hearing the sound of cicadas, birds, rivers, etc most of the times and along with the visuals is really soothing.

The mix of that original "Boku No Natsuyasumi" concept with Shin Chan its really well blended, it makes the game feel even more nostalgic and the wacky story fits surprisingly well and its entertaining. It has flaws sure but I think it achieves its purpose and I really loved it.
