Jun 10, 2020SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo 2 has gone beyond expectations and created new opportunities and experiences with their already beloved classic. If you’re new to the franchise or style, it’s the perfect starting point. If you’re a huge fan of the Puyo Puyo series you’ll still find hours of entertainment with Puyo Puyo 2.

Feb 21, 2020Puyo Puyo 2 is an excellent arcade puzzle game, and the Sega Ages port makes it more accessible than ever, both to a western audience and to those who have difficulty with colors. Though it is a shame the localization couldn’t go all the way, this new version more than makes up for it with all the new options and features it brings to the table. It’s a must-play for fans of falling block games, and there’s never been a better way to play it.

Mar 4, 2020Puyo Puyo 2 is a simple puzzle game that contains enough fun inside to keep you entertained. Not much else can be said about it, other than it’s extremely addicting and you will find it hard to put down. There’s very little depth or sense of progress outside of honing your own skills, and very few accomplishments outside of getting revenge on certain characters (or players) that destroyed you in previous games. It’s cute, funny and great for a quick challenge or for sharpening that hand/eye coordination. A really good fit for the Switch!

Nov 30, 2021The SEGA Ages line of classics expands its puzzler repertoire with another top tier title, and one that is well worth considering over its Switch Online SNES Counterpart. Lively and full of charm, despite being restrained to Japanese character dialogue, the Ages extra features both expected and new make this the defining version of Puyo Puyo 2.
-
Apr 30, 2020Puyo Puyo 2 refined the formula that its predecessor introduced in such clever ways that its gameplay persisted through the ages.
-
Mar 3, 2020Puyo Puyo 2 is an invaluable piece of gaming history for the niche but dedicated competitive puzzling community and, provided you don’t already have Nintendo Switch Online, the most affordable entry point to the Puyo Puyo series.
-
Feb 21, 2020Sega Ages: Puyo Puyo 2 is a blast from the past for anyone wanting to explore the series roots. Its display options toy with your nostalgia while the added perk of online play makes another reason to check out the classic block-dropping competitive puzzle series. If you already have several Puyo Puyo titles, however, you may not be missing much.

Nintendo Force MagazineMay 1, 2020If you're a serious Puyo Puyo nut who's always on the hunt for the next blob-dropping challenge, Puyo Puyo 2 feeds you more of what you crave. [Issue #46 – May/June 2020, p. 23]

Apr 1, 2020SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo 2 is an excellent puzzle game wrapped in a rather straightforward package. While it’s certainly a step above its predecessor, a lack in variety of mode types might make this one of the shorter distractions we’ve seen from the SEGA AGES collection so far.
-
Mar 12, 2020Puyo Puyo 2 was a big deal for fans of the puzzler when it first launched. The rules added to the base game offer more incentive to play fast and aggressively. The Sega Ages edition for the Nintendo Switch introduces some helpful features, like save states and an undo button. It’s a solid, upgraded port and would be a good purchase for fans, if the market weren’t already saturated with Puyo Puyo games.
-
Mar 1, 2020Of the 16 Sega Ages games released to date, this sits nearer the bottom end of the scale. While it isn't quite as limited as the first Puyo Puyo, it's still very much a one-trick pony, and while it's entertaining enough for fans of the series, when you've got the far more feature-heavy Puyo Puyo Champions on Switch for only a couple of pounds or dollars more, this one is entirely unnecessary.
