Aug 9, 2024I’m not a fan of jumping puzzle games, but SCHiM managed to win me over. Its minimalist art style, inventive use of shadows and movement, and the idea that the game makes sure that messing up doesn’t feel too frustrating, kept me engaged level after level.

Jul 15, 2024Great googly moogly, SCHiM is a beautiful feat of a 3D-platformer with puzzle elements. Its most charming and emotional moments will sneak up on you, so enjoy every single second of this cozy tale of a little shadow that could.

Jul 15, 2024SCHiM is an enjoyable light and dark-based platformer that manages to hit the spot due to smooth mechanics and a simple but charming presentation. There was basically never a moment where I didn’t find the game fun to play, and choosing to make my way through its story over the course of a week rather than all in one sitting alleviated the potential repetition of its gameplay. The aesthetic of SCHiM is fully complementary to the experience, and I find myself being unable to stop thinking about the game after rolling credits. In SCHiM we have another example of how less can definitely be more, a fitting title for the summer season and all of the shadows and shade we’re sure to be seeking out.

Jul 15, 2024SCHiM is an adorable and delightfully unique game, and one that feels both gloriously clever and easy to pick up in equal measure.
-
Jul 29, 2024A thoughtful Indie puzzler that's worth lurking in the shadows for.
-
Jul 15, 2024I certainly had a good time playing SCHiM but my patriotism may have clouded my judgment. How much would I actually care about SCHiM's locations if I wasn't constantly pointing at the screen like in that Leonardo DiCaprio meme? Some people will think the gameplay is too boring and others may love its unique and creative concept too much to care. In the end, I found myself right in the middle.

Jul 24, 2024SCHiM is a fun and short platformer that can be enjoyed between bigger and longer experiences. It is a delight for those who want to relax and enjoy a shorter adventure.
-
Jul 19, 2024SCHiM is an interesting and relaxing 3D platformer that makes great use of its unique premise. Although its gameplay may be a little basic and the camera can have some issues, its gorgeous art style and relaxing vibes make it an overall worthwhile experience. This isn’t one that we’d suggest you go out and pick up right away, but if you’ve been looking for a 3D platformer that approaches the genre in a notably different way from the rest, this is the game you’ve been looking for.
-
Jul 16, 2024A mellow and deeply unusual adventure where you play a man’s shadow adrift in a Dutch city, in a game that defies convention and is all the better for it.
-
Jul 20, 2024I like the concept behind SCHiM and the artistic direction, but certain elements of it frustrated me after I got about 30 levels into it. I found myself wishing for more of a challenge or a story that left me less annoyed at the person I was trying to track down. I imagine it’d be more entertaining if played in shorter bursts. But marathoning it might make you feel a bit depressed as you see yourself constantly just miss someone who just won’t sit still.

Sep 4, 2024When I look at fantastic Schim screenshots, I wonder if I was too harsh. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a pretty and charming game. However, a moment later I recall that after the first 30 minutes of euphoria from playing it, monotony and disappointment took over. Completing this game was neither a relaxation nor a cool challenge for me.

Aug 9, 2024Once the game ended I felt underwhelmed. For something that looks this gorgeous and has such a confident sense of style, that feeling doesn’t translate to the actual gameplay. All I could think about were the missed chances of having this cute shadow frog interact more with the world or have an emotional connection through its adventure, rather than just constantly chasing an ever-changing endpoint that never really satisfies.

Apr 4, 2025Schim isn't without its merits. For players looking for a more casual, low stakes experience, it can be a relaxing time to shut off the mind to, and the art style alone is worth admiring. It's built on a strong conceptual foundation, even if it struggles to make the most of its intriguing premise. Although it doesn't quite hit the mark fully, Schim should be applauded for trying to do something different and unique. There is a certain satisfaction to leaping from shadow to shadow, much like one might imagine as a child looking out from the window and also imagine during a long car journey. Much like those car-imagining journeys, though, the novelty can fade quickly, but at least it doesn't make one feel queasy, like reading a Beano would.
