I have loved the roller coaster tycoon series so I am currently extremely disappointed that this is a mobile port without the in game purchases or the cards feature. the game also markets it's coaster builder as intuitive when it lacks chain lift and brakes some of the things that 90% of roller coasters around the world have. the other problem i have with this game is it is 50 dollars forI have loved the roller coaster tycoon series so I am currently extremely disappointed that this is a mobile port without the in game purchases or the cards feature. the game also markets it's coaster builder as intuitive when it lacks chain lift and brakes some of the things that 90% of roller coasters around the world have. the other problem i have with this game is it is 50 dollars for a mobile port! if you want this game get the free mobile version and play that instead of wasting 50 dollars. It's a Skinner box, people, it gives you endless tasks to complete that give you small rewards for completing them. It is utterly impossible to fail, which makes everything you do feel hollow and pointless. It loads very slowly and parks with a lot of entities lag considerably. Avoid at all costs, especially since there are much better theme park management games available (RCT Classic for example is half the price ($20), Parkitect is another good option (also $20), Planet Coaster is only 5 dollars more ($45) and has far more game). This game really could had been fun but honestly its full of bugs, crashes constantly, lags incredibly bad when you start to fill your park with rides (the intent of the game). The loading times take a long time to load, so those crashes are even more annoying when followed up with a 5 minute load waiting time.

I have rides that literally go through rollercoaster tracks, I have rollercoaster tracks that just ghost, and are not there even though you can see the ride itself running along where the track should be. This game is an example of recall and restart from scratch.

Wow! I trusted Rollercoaster Tycoon to have a little bit of consistency and boy did they disappoint. The gameplay is buggy (crashed during a tutorial!) the graphics are just ok which for the price is disappointing in itself, but the worst part is the coaster building. Building coasters is a staple of the coaster tycoon games. It’s the part many who play the game enjoy the most and I was very much looking forward to it myself. But the building mechanics for designing your own coaster in Adventures are some of the most complicated and convoluted I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I could have come up with something this bad if I was being paid to do so! And don’t count on the tutorials to help you make sense of it all because all they offer are more confusion. I don’t think there is any way a tutorial could have helped anyway. It’s that ridiculous. I spent 30 minutes just trying to make sense of the track building during which time I accidentally opened the coaster for business and deleted the entire ride at least twice only to have the game finally crash because even the game itself can’t make sense of it. It is so frustrating and confusing I almost threw my controller (on a RC Tycoon game!) and I never get frustrated at games! I can not believe I spent money on this! $50 gone! Expand

This game is hard to figure out, difficult to play and control. Not very user friendly. Terrible to play on the switch screen. Do not waste your time and money! There is no way to get a refund!

RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures is a pretty big disappointment for me. As a fan of the series for most of my life, a portable, fully fledged, modern version of the game on a portable console is a dream, but that isn't what this is. This casual approach is too dumbed down for it to be fun for more than a few hours. With the rollercoaster building being so awful, it's difficult to recommend even for casual users, but it might work as something to distract from the drudgery of a bus ride.

If you’re in the market for a game that does have relatively little structure, then that won’t do — though I’ll hasten to add that the game also includes a sandbox mode, where you can build to your heart’s content. But if, like me, you’re a more goal-oriented sort of player, then you’ll find that RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures offers a perfect blend of creativity and structure.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures brings to the Nintendo Switch one of the most iconic gaming series, originally developed for the PC and which has found its way into nearly every platform out there. While the main essence of the series is here to be found and developing theme parks is fun and engaging, this adaptation is mired by technical issues which should have been corrected and being based on the mobile version means the experience feels oversimplified, the Nintendo Switch deserved more than this.
