I read that it was a version for kids so I offered it to my 8y/o daughter and I played for a few hours myself. She loves it and I feel like it's a very good introduction to management games for anyone who never played one, or who doesn't have time to play more complex ones. Stay away from it if you expect a port of Planet Coaster on Switch though.

Ok, this is no where near a perfect Rollercoaster Tycoon game. Thrillville or Planet Coaster are far more better, but guess what, those aren't on current consoles. I love sim building games and I couldn't wait for this to come out. I knew it probably wasn't going to be like RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, but it tries, I will give it that. One bad thing about this game is the lag. Once the park gets really big, the game lags and it is kind of annoying. I really hope they fix this, but they probably won't because this game almost didn't even happen for the Switch. The other bad thing is that you can't ride the rides like you could in other Rollercoaster Tycoon games. This really is a stripped down version of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I still enjoy the game, don't get me wrong. I am happy that it is on the Switch and I have put a lot of time into it. I do recommend the game if you absolutely love sim building games. This and City Skylines is perfect for you! Expand

Instant nostalgia hit as I first came across this title searching for a new game to play during an airplane flight. Turns out, this fit the bill perfectly. However, after playing my first, and then my second, and into my third I'm realizing the game difficulty is lacking. I felt as though I could leave the game running an hour at a time untouched and come back to find everything still running smoothly. With the occasional park-goer with a particular concern, there was much to leave up to imagination in terms of park maintenance. The creation mechanics and design features are as good as ever and fresh rides and of course coasters are always fun to explore. When the parks start to really grow and expand, the switch has a rough time rendering everything happening at once without some intense lag. This is especially the case once a few roller coasters have been added to the park.. essentially making me want to leave them out so things run smooth, but defeats the entire premise of coaster creation. All-in-all, it killed an otherwise boring evening and was fun to build and grow my (first) park, beyond this, the game doesn't have much in terms of longevity, even within park expansion, without hitting game performance or content walls. It's a Skinner box, people, it gives you endless tasks to complete that give you small rewards for completing them. Avoid at all costs, especially since there are much better theme park management games available (RCT Classic for example is half the price ($20), Parkitect is another good option (also $20), Planet Coaster is only 5 dollars more ($45) and has far more game). This game really could had been fun but honestly its full of bugs, crashes constantly, lags incredibly bad when you start to fill your park with rides (the intent of the game). The loading times take a long time to load, so those crashes are even more annoying when followed up with a 5 minute load waiting time.

I have rides that literally go through rollercoaster tracks, I have rollercoaster tracks that just ghost, and are not there even though you can see the ride itself running along where the track should be. This game is an example of recall and restart from scratch.

Wow! I trusted Rollercoaster Tycoon to have a little bit of consistency and boy did they disappoint. Building coasters is a staple of the coaster tycoon games. It’s the part many who play the game enjoy the most and I was very much looking forward to it myself. But the building mechanics for designing your own coaster in Adventures are some of the most complicated and convoluted I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I could have come up with something this bad if I was being paid to do so! And don’t count on the tutorials to help you make sense of it all because all they offer are more confusion. I don’t think there is any way a tutorial could have helped anyway. It’s that ridiculous. I spent 30 minutes just trying to make sense of the track building during which time I accidentally opened the coaster for business and deleted the entire ride at least twice only to have the game finally crash because even the game itself can’t make sense of it. It is so frustrating and confusing I almost threw my controller (on a RC Tycoon game!) and I never get frustrated at games! I can not believe I spent money on this! $50 gone! Expand

This game is hard to figure out, difficult to play and control. Not very user friendly. Terrible to play on the switch screen. Do not waste your time and money! There is no way to get a refund!

It looks good but is a very shallow experience. Flat rides are overturned to the point where building coasters is irrelevant. Hopefully the upcoming title upgrade fixes it.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures is a pretty big disappointment for me. As a fan of the series for most of my life, a portable, fully fledged, modern version of the game on a portable console is a dream, but that isn't what this is. This casual approach is too dumbed down for it to be fun for more than a few hours. With the rollercoaster building being so awful, it's difficult to recommend even for casual users, but it might work as something to distract from the drudgery of a bus ride.

If you’re in the market for a game that does have relatively little structure, then that won’t do — though I’ll hasten to add that the game also includes a sandbox mode, where you can build to your heart’s content. But if, like me, you’re a more goal-oriented sort of player, then you’ll find that RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures offers a perfect blend of creativity and structure.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures brings to the Nintendo Switch one of the most iconic gaming series, originally developed for the PC and which has found its way into nearly every platform out there. While the main essence of the series is here to be found and developing theme parks is fun and engaging, this adaptation is mired by technical issues which should have been corrected and being based on the mobile version means the experience feels oversimplified, the Nintendo Switch deserved more than this.
