I agree with most of the negative observations other users have highlighted. Load times can be long and there are strange pauses between inputting actions and effects resolving. These things are definitely annoying, but the graphics are lovely, the game design is amazing, and I have now spent a very enjoyable 50 hours playing Roguebook on Switch. The performance issues are disappointing, but there is still lots of fun to be had here if you like deckbuilding games.
Edit: I just bought the Fugoro DLC for $15 and have played another 8 runs with this new character. Fugoro is really cool and plays quite differently to the other 4 characters. My total playtime is now 80 hours (30 runs) and this is now one of my all time favourite games! I think they have also patched some of the input lag issues recently so it plays better now too.

Roguebook is an interesting roguelike deck-building game with a difficulty curve that could either frustrate or excite you. If you like a challenge, and enjoy card battles, consider picking this one up.

Roguebok is a card-based roguelike that takes many elements from successful games like it but fails in its execution with them. Muddled sound, blurry graphics, stuttering animation, illegible text, no accessibility options and an overly boring story makes this a game I’d probably just avoid completely.

Rougebook offers enough unique takes on gameplay to create a compelling experience for those highly interested in deck building games and a fun experience for those who aren’t quite as familiar with the genre. The dual hero system and presentation truly makes Rougebook stand out. However, the usual issues with the deck building game remain. It’s the random luck of the draw as to whether you’re given good enough cards to succeed in battle. Otherwise, you have to grind your way around to find useful cards or upgrades to help you. It might not be a game for everyone, but Roguebook is definitely worth checking out.
