Just like the original, this game is incredibly addictive.

As a roguelite, you can spend your coins on upgrades upon death allowing you to slowly progress further on each run.

The gameplay and controls are perfect and the different load outs give lots of variety.

Really my type of the game. A rouguelite gem in 2022. Didn't play the first one but really enjoy this sequel.

This might be the perfect sequel and one of the best rogue-lites to date. Rogue legacy 2 takes everything that made the original game an epic and improves on it. There are more biomes, more biomes, cooler bosses, more enemy variety, more secrets, more extra content, such as scar challenges, more upgrades to your castle, more special items, more weapons and more spells. Graphics are gorgeous and the music is nothing but good. Don't miss out on this splendid piece of addictive entertainment. Expand

The fundamentals of combat are still boring. That’s the core gameplay. That part is boring & archaic. Not much different from Ghouls n Ghosts 1000’s of years ago.

Still I really appreciate all the player friendly options like choosing enemy health, turning off enemy contact damage, stopping level randomisation….

Introduce many improvements to the first Rogue Legacy, but also introduces more annoying randomization which brings the score down from the first Rogue Legacy, which i would give a 9/10.

The dash and fast paced movement of the game has definitely improved. The game still addictively has you explore the dangerous castle and defeat the bosses in each section. Let's talk about how the

Let's talk about how the game has gotten worse though since that's much more fun.

Classes: Wow, what a downgrade! Adding more classes sounds like it should be a good thing, but a lot of these classes are outright bad, and others are OP, so as you unlock more classes, you slowly decrease your chances of getting a good class. If i had the choice to replay the game, i would have avoided unlocking all of these terrible classes.

Special In-dungeon weapons: You can find special non-class weapons in the castle itself, but i was shocked to see that ALL of these weapons are trash. After trying most of them, i just stopped because picking a bad weapon could destroy your run. When i say 'trash' i mean almost every one is worse than any class weapon. Why add these if they are all bad?

Great platforming, smooth combat and tons of variety on upgrading options and affinities. Also, a nice and small pool of bosses which are challenging but not that hard, and a map system that is greatly designed for easy access when you successfully clear a location. It doesn't have the challenge of a hard roguelike adventure but I still love it.

This game is unbelievably good in every possible way. And then its execution... 60 FPS and super detailed 2D hand-drawn graphics and minimal load times. Now please stop blaming the Switch hardware when your games don't run smooth, this is a master class in game design.

An excellent sequel that marries Metroidvania style exploration with a dizzying array of new combat mechanics, to make one of the best roguelike experiences of this or any year.

A worthy sequel in every regard, Rogue Legacy 2 improves almost every single element that made the original Cellar Door Games title so appealing. Even its slow progression system is easy to stomach when everything along the way is so fun and entertaining.

Rogue Legacy 2 sometimes feels a bit too familiar, but it’s a better, more well-rounded game than its predecessor in a wide variety of ways. There are so many top-notch games of this sort on the Nintendo Switch already that you may not immediately be drawn to this game due to it lacking any flashy new feature, but those who give it a chance will find a degree of substance that even the first game was lacking.
