It felt like I was fighting the controls just as much as I was the AI. I'm pretty sure I was only able to beat ONE level on easy difficulty. ON EASY. Not to mention the AI essentially cheats, always bouncing over everything or going where I literally can't place down any defences, while I'm unable to avoid anything I put down. So...the trailer Nintendo published on their youtube channel for the game DOES NOT match the actual graphics in the game. The trailer must be using footage from the Ps4 build. Looks really subpar docked and actually pretty bad in handheld.

"Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder was my indie game of the year last year, and is still an absolute blast to play. It certainly has its issues that prevent it from being the masterpiece that it could have been, but I think that fans of ball rolling games will have a great time with it. As someone who doesn’t care for Tower Defence games, I appreciate that the game doesn’t require a massive amount of strategic prowess to beat, and there are multiple difficulty options for those who fancy an extra challenge. The game wants you to have silly fun, and that is what it provides. Still not sure? It regularly goes on sale for less than €5, so perhaps give it a punt then. More people need to experience this wonderful series."

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder is a good game with a great sense of humor. A worthy sequel to ACE Team’s first Rock of Ages title, fans of its predecessor are sure to find Bigger & Boulder a worthy successor. Some of the stages overemphasize jumping, and the process for unlocking traps seems to give too much to the opponent. I wish I had more fun with the tower defense mode, but the fun the presentation provides helps smooth over these concerns. If you’re looking for a laugh on your Switch, you’re not going to find anything on Switch more willing to laugh at itself than Rock of Ages 2. In spite of some of my gameplay concerns, I recommend it.

An extraordinary art direction, well designed and full of humor. Unfortunately, the poor optimization and especially the resolution of the portable mode make this game not shine on Switch as much as it should.

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder manages to combine conflicting genres with a truly weird and wonderful aesthetic style. Unfortunately, the Switch release stumbles in a few areas namely its visuals and the lack of local multiplayer. Still, if you’re looking for something truly left field then Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder is a funny and entertaining ride sure to raise a smile or two.
