This game is exactly what I was looking for on my Switch! It delivers fast paced 3rd person shooter action and offers a great scale of increasing difficulty. The characters all have unique play styles so unlocking them and trying them out offers a whole new perspective on the game. The power-ups are completely random so each play through is different.

While it does not offer split-screen co-op it does have public and private lobbies for multiplayer fun.

This is a must have for Switch owners looking to scratch that shooter/loot itch :)

Amazing game overall with simplistic but beautiful graphics and environment. Awesome characters earned through gameplay with unique abilities each and a lot of loot to collect throughout your runs, this game makes every second count. For me it’s a must buy and one of top of the list favs. Peace

Risk of rain 2 an amazing in the game that centers around the corner mechanic of the longer you spend on each stage it keeps getting harder the longer you stay on that run.You collect items that can all synergize with each other and make extremely fun builds. Its a great game that I would recommend To anyone and it’s a great port to the switch.

This game is absolutely unplayable with joy-cons or joysticks on a gamepad.

Should you buy this game? Yes. Absolutely. Should you buy it on the switch? No. Go play it on a console with a proper controller

Really good game, fun alone, even funnier with friends. The only problem is the lack of objectives that comes after 50hours...

This video game is a simplistic master-piece, I'm hooked, I've spent ~16 hours playing this game & I just can't seem to get enough.

Personally I'm a very big fan of how you can explore each level, collecting equipment, allowing you to stack modifications/abilities, essentially improving your odds of survival.

I’m very thankful I've not encountered any issues, I have previously read some reviews about how servers may have some down time occasionally, although I've not experienced this myself.

Furthermore, there's really nothing significant that I can say is negative about this game, even reading review(s) that can be found on the likes of PC Gamer, the only negative feedback I have about the game at this moment in time is how I feel that the pointer(s) to other players when playing multiplayer should be more distinct. When there are many enemies on the screen, it's almost impossible to see where the other players are, but at the same time, this is kinda a quirky pro in my eyes as it adds that extra layer of craziness.

As this game is still in early access according to Steam at the time of writing this review, one feature I would love to see is having the ability to specify the likelihood of how often crates & drones appear on a map. I'm not sure if this would be an easy feature to implement, but I find it would add an extra layer of customisation to the gaming experience.

Notwithstanding the limitations of the hardware this is an amazing game for anyone that enjoys action-roguelikes. It runs smooth enough, looks good enough, and controls enjoyably enough. Unfortunately, the game is a bit much for the switch to run as intended. This game would be a 9 if not for the limitations forced upon it.

It straight up looks ugly, but makes up for in replayability. Some rounds I'll get killed super quick, but other times, with the luck of a good pickup item you just keep pushing thru hoards of enemies and big bosses that seem impossible to conquer until you finally do. Fun game, esp with friends

I've played a lot of games on Switch, including the big AAA games, and RoR2 is the one I come back to most frequently. The gameplay loop is so solid and the flow is so fun that it's about the only game I play regularly anymore. It's held my interest for over a year, and with a content update just released and more on the horizon, I will be playing this game for a long time. Having played both the original Risk of Rain and the Early Access version of this sequel on PC I’m pretty well-acquainted with both the level of challenge it provides, and of how chaotic the combat can tend to get in a hurry if you don’t keep up with the spawn rate of your enemies in spots. In many ways they aren’t very nuanced, your objective is to move through environments as quickly as you can, killing enemies along the way, in search of the teleportation shrine that will move you to the next area. Every moment you waste essentially powers up your enemies but that can also be a positive as blowing through a horde or two will give you some loot to spend at randomly-placed boxes, kiosks, 3D printers, and equipment like healing drones or defensive guns. Each stage then culminates in a challenging blow out boss fight. A load of classes, including a new one added in the latest patch, and the ability to team up online all make for plenty of ways to engage in great action… just be warned that if you’re seeking context, story, or nuance that isn’t what this game is about. It’s much more of a throwback conceptually to the days of arcades where the onslaught needed no explanation, you just needed to be ready to do as much damage as you can to get as far as you can before dying… and then starting all over again.

Its a great game ,in my opinion. The only thing wich is that after you got every survivor you dont realy have the motivation to keep going, in my opinion. Also on switch the game actualy plays realy smooth and only when you make an 4 hours run with the op-est items in the game there are preatty heavy frame drops but over al i think that it is a great game 10/10

Overall the art of the game complements the gameplay really well. If the music wasn’t good and the visuals weren’t good, it would get extremely taxing as I die and respawn repeatedly in the early stages of figuring out the mechanics of the game. It’s clear that just like the original, Risk of Rain 2 is a labor of love and if you’re a gamer who likes supporting independent titles, this is a great one to pick up.

Even in its relatively unfinished state, Risk of Rain 2 proves to be an exceptionally well-designed take on the gameplay that made its predecessor popular. The transition to 3D gameplay has been pulled off flawlessly, and the sheer diversity of gameplay options combined with the strong online multiplayer ensure that this is one you'll keep coming back to for quite some time. Even so, there are some issues that the developers will hopefully address in the lead up to the official launch, such as the frustrating navigational issues and the poorly optimized UI. Those matters aside, if you're in the market for a quality 3D roguelike action title for your Switch, Risk of Rain 2 is one of the finest purchases you can make; we'd give this one a high recommendation.
