This game is a gem! It’s bite sized side scroller, a kinda-city builder, a sorta rogue lite rpg, and a ton of charm. From your map screen you explore new areas and delegate workers to transport supplies back to base camp. At base camp you build and upgrade into a village (and more?) in order to attract more help. Some of these helpers are also warriors so as the quests get harder and farther away you build up a little squad of dwarves who you can also eventually train and upgrade. That’s the loop so far, I haven’t gotten ever 25% through the map or approached end game content yet. But I’m having a blast and the game works well in both short sessions and in “one more quest” long ones. I am not a platform type player so I can’t really say how tight the controls are for connoisseurs of the genre, but is very easy to build a character, and squad, that is effective with out needing precision toning in combat. Some of the mechanics of the game are not well explained and the very strange insistence of all switch games using the “wrong” buttons takes some frustrating time to get used to. But overall the game is worth the effort and it’s dirt cheap on sale right now. There is an audience for this kind of game and if you are curious already you should dive in and slay some orcs! Expand

    Incredibly entertaining game!
First heard about this game from "limited run games" and decided to check it out, and was well worth the money. I bought it on sale at $5, and after a few hours of play, I definitely would've payed the full $10.

I am sure this format of game has been done before, but I greatly enjoyed this game and think other switch-users would get a lot of entertainment out of it as well.

Overall, this is a really solid game. For a modest price tag, you get a deep RPG with town-building elements that will give you many hours of exploration and questing. There are some rough edges to the game that take a little bit of the luster off the game, but what remains is still plenty enjoyable. If you like the idea of questing in a 2D world against goblins, orcs, and other creatures of high fantasy, all while saving the world, this is a game worth picking up your axe for. Recommended.
