Raging Justice didn’t tick any of the boxes I was expecting it to. The graphics made it very appealing but the gameplay and sound were so disappointing. It felt extremely repetitive without any real rewards. The multiplayer was more fun but still lacked the core attributes a side scrolling beat em up should have.
Unfortunately I went in expecting it to be a Streets Of Rage 2018

Unfortunately I went in expecting it to be a Streets Of Rage 2018 improvement but it failed to even shine the boots of the cult classic.

It's okay. The sound is disappointing, some of the music is just plain bad. Stages are just alright. Gameplay gets the job done but is nothing special. Graphics are a mixed bag, nice in some ways bad in others. In the end it just feels like the kind of thing that really doesn't stand out, true classics are a lot more appealing. The BEST side scrolling beat em up currently on the Switch. The old school controls and hit-box detection require precision and patience to master. The bosses are tough and have their own rules but the common enemies are fair, whatever you can do to them they can do to you. This game makes me want to build an arcade cabinet for my Switch. This is a fun little game. It feels pretty clunky at first, but once you get the hang of it you can plough through gangs of thugs in very satisfying style. There are only 9 short levels and 4 brawl stages (wave battles with 7 rounds each), so don't expect this to keep you occupied for too long. But if you enjoy this genre, you can't go too far wrong when the game goes on a heavy sale. IThis is a fun little game. Raging Justice offers as-it-says-on-the-tin beat-em-up action, but irritating controls make it not quite the seamless experience it could be. Fortunately, co-op and leaderboards will keep you coming back.

While the intention is commendable and the game is certainly full of nostalgic elements, the gameplay falls blow expectations as it quickly feels unbalanced. The game is also rather short on content and its level design is far from appealing, which makes Raging Justice an effort that does not reach the threshold set by the classics of the genre.

Even though Raging Justice doesn't reinvent the wheel, it does the job in fun way that I feel is definite value for money. Pick your preferred mode and have at it.
