It may seem like a throwback to Doom and classic shooters but at the risk of sounding pathetic, this game is too hard. It’s very unforgiving even in the earliest stages. Doom was never this difficult. Every single time you see a bat it fires at you. The game should be played slowly but it runs at such a high speed that encourages one to rush when they should be careful. This would have been a decent port if it wasn't for the input delay. I can forgive the 30fps lock, but not when the input delay becomes this noticeable. Aiming and movement just don't feel comfortable, either in handheld or docked.

The game itself is fantastic. The art style still holds up even with the slight graphical downgrades. It's just a shame about the input delay, which none of

It's just a shame about the input delay, which none of the "official" reviews seem to mention. Being able to control your game is one of the more important aspects to look out for, and you'd think it would be something important to mention.

The game is just unplayable for me on Switch. The controls are so bad that the game is just too difficult, I can't even beat the first level.

It's just bad, a lot of unnecessary mechanics, the game gets boring very quickly, it's monotonous and underdeveloped in my opinion

So if you’re looking for something a little different in the FPS genre on the Switch – and don’t want to delve into the past – then Project Warlock might be worth considering. Yet the ports of the first two Doom titles ultimately represent far better value, and offer a much more rewarding and balanced experience.

The underpinning fundamentals are certainly there, the attention to detail is coded in nicely, and the continuous improvements made since launch display a progressive attitude to evolve. I may not have quite warmed towards Project Warlock as much as I would have hoped, but I for one am very much looking forward to seeing Jacob Cislo’s next chapter in game development.

Project Warlock is a FPS that pays homage to classic ’90s shooters like Doom. If you like mazes filled with hardcore monsters and plenty of gore, this game will probably be of interest to you.
