While the game's missions could be more varied and Project Nimbus could certainly use a bigger variety of vehicles, fans of games involving enormous robotic-like bodies will enjoy this work, even if few outside this niche will feel attracted.

Project Nimbus is a solid if unspectacular mecha action game that’s packed with content for a reasonable price.

Project Nimbus: Complete Edition doesn’t break any new ground, and it likely won’t keep you playing for too long, either. But what it does offer is some incredibly fun, fast-paced combat with a varied set of mechs to pilot, and an enjoyable but corny plot like something out of a mid-tier anime.

If you are a fan of mechs, and want to blast off into combat then Project Nimbus: Complete Edition has some great mech combat.

Project Nimbus is good to look at and great to listen to. It’s got a jammin’ old school video game soundtrack, great explosions, and the aforementioned pilot banter. Diehards of the genre will find a love letter to all things big and clanky, and if your dream is to pilot something big and fast and humanoid shaped, Project Nimbus will make you feel great.

Project Nimbus isn’t bad, it does too many things competently to deserve such a label. And it isn’t utterly bereft of fun; at times I was enjoying zipping around the battlefield launching autonomous drones to hunt down targets. However, the core gameplay loop just doesn’t sustain any feeling of satisfaction.

Project Nimbus is a fun time for those looking to fly around in a giant robot and blow things up, but like the Michael Bay's Transformers movies, it just ends up feeling forgettable as soon as you put the controller down. While Zone of the Enders played very similarly, it did so with more narrative panache. With Daemon X Machina due on Switch in the near-ish future, it might be worth your while waiting a little while longer for your mecha game fix.

Project Nimbus: Complete Edition is a game that sports tight, engaging gameplay, but fails to back this up with compelling reasons to play for the long haul. On the surface, there’s a generous serving of modes, missions and weaponry, along with impressive visuals and three difficulty options to sink your teeth into. Unfortunately, repetition sets in far too soon, and eventually you’ll want to store this mecha back in its hangar. The wait for the Switch's first truly comprehensive 'Big Robot' game continues.

Project Nimbus left me feeling mixed. I wanted more from the campaign, both in mechanics and story. On the other hand, the mechs are responsive and the Warfront mode kept me coming back. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it, but hardcore mech fans may find something here to like.

I was doubting to rate it 10 just to compensate the haters but I'll just be honest. For a mecha fan its an 8 or 9. Great looks, fast andI was doubting to rate it 10 just to compensate the haters but I'll just be honest. For a mecha fan its an 8 or 9. Great looks, fast and intense action, lots of weapons, lots of mechas and some variety in its game modes. For a project initiated by 6 people and 30,000$ kickstarter I think its a pretty good product. Compared to other product with a much bigger budget it holds pretty well. I'd be very happy if Daemon X machina had an UI as clean as Project Nimbus. And I'd love Project Nimbus to have the animation and modelling of Zone of Enders. But all said, it's really good and I would recommend it to any mecha fan. ^_^ Full Review »
