Pokemon Let's Go! Eevee is, for the most part, a candid experience that brings me back to my childhood playing Pokemon with my family. Eevee is, for the most part, a candid experience that brings me back to my childhood playing Pokemon with my family. For some background, my first games were the second gen GSC games, Silver being the first I'd ever picked up. I've been playing Pokemon religiously for most of my life, and have tried every generation, sequel, and near ever title in the main series as well as most of the spinoffs. While most of the spinoffs past the second Pokemon Ranger games have been abysmal at best, Pokemon LGPE was a surprising taste of what it's like to combine a spinoff with a main series title in an effective, fun, and beautiful way.

While I admit shiny hunting in a game where the Pokemon is simply seen in the overworld instead of randomly encountered can take a lot of the excitement out of capturing a shiny, it's still an interesting feature that makes the wold you're in feel real, alive, and tangible. The graphics are wonderfully aesthetic, both colorful and soft at the same time, and are the best out of the games so far as a collective. Nintendo took great advantage in showing off these improved graphics on a platform that will soon carry on the Pokemon flame, and the work really shows with how natural the surroundings feel. There's absolutely zero gripe here for the lack of Pokemon outside the original 151 (+Meltan) as it's supposed to be a Pokemon Yellow remake of sorts, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the capturing mechanic.

All in all, Pokemon LGPE is an experience all players can enjoy, whether they come from the humble New Bark Town like i did or the free-to-play app that launched in 2016. Especially if they're able to set aside the catch mechanic. God I hate that catch mechanic.

First I'd probably give this game a 7 or 8 but will give it a 10 to help counter all the people who obviously never played the game but reviewed it at a 0 or 1.

The graphics are beautiful, albeit simple (simple =/= bad as some try to claim), the catching mechanic takes way more skill in mid to late game than mainline games before it, the game is a fun and engaging return to Kanto, Pokemon roaming the map instead of wild encounters is so much better.

The bad: its a Pokemon game and if you've played one you've kind of played them all. It does some fun new things but at the end of the day they're just new gimmicks just like every new gen tries to do. I really hope bare minimum the over world roaming Pokemon mechanic stays. If you're on the fence but love Pokemon do yourself a favor and buy it, if you liked Pokemon games before it you'll like Let's Go.

But if you loved RBY as a kid and/or you love the Pokémon games and want to play them with your kids, this is a perfect game. The game is *not* in any way geared at hardcore players.
That’s why so many of these reviews strike me as so obtuse - people who want a different game than the game in front of them.

Of course, the game isn’t perfect. It’s not a 10/10. However, it is a game that’s ridiculously fun to play if you want to relive the RBY experience in a relaxing way. You still need to know your types, there is plenty to do post-game, and for collectors, there is no shortage of perfect IVs and shinies to gather.
If it doesn’t sound like fun to you, then just keep moving. Don’t destroy the rating of a game just because you’re upset the game doesn’t cater to your specific requests of Pokémon game (again, the “normal” game is coming in 2019).

It's a good game even if you have been playing Pokémon since gen 1. Also, we veterans are not the target of this games. All the negative scores comes from haters complaining about it being the Kanto from gen1 again for what I have read. Let's Go has some good innovations that could be implemented in future "main" games but they won't because of haters not being fair with this game.

I Love the game. Best version of Kanto ever. Red/Blue were my first games and this is a great game for original players who fell off and new players who have never played before. Maybe not if you spent 100+ hours in the every pokemon game ever, because this game is not as difficult as the last few. But it is way more fun!

This game is amazing! The battle sequences are well executed, the game looks beautiful, and the Pokemon Go style of getting wild Pokemon makes the game unique and different from its predecessors. The people who are rating this game 0's should be taken with a grain of salt, since most of the bad ratings don't even have a good reason as to why they are rated that way(or a reason, period).

Beautiful, marvellous and nostalgic. I´m very happy and proudly with Game Freak and The Pokemon Company. All days I go out my home and catch pokemon on GO and then ,in my home, transfer my new pokemon to switch. Its so perfect. And the new level up mechanic catching is more logic (not to kill every wild pokemon).I love shiny hunting and the chain to find good ivs.

I was surprised to see how much fun it was. Things that I had found bad, like the end of the random battles, proved much better than I had expected. I watched on TV all my life around me and even the pokéball pitch that I had condemned so much in the end was fun. I played with him for wanting to play and I got infected. I saw how wrong I was to have judged a game, only by a few traillers, condemning the changes, without even experiencing them. I was captivated by the game. I had fun in a Pokémon game, something that had not happened for years, since there was no fun in the others, which were more centered, so to speak. Let's Go Pikachu was a fun experience and decides to buy the Eevee version, as I found the Eevee cute and got the female with the heart-shaped spot on the tail. Me and my boyfriend happened to switch pokémons, because of the exclusive versions. All I have to say is: Those who are undecided or who condemned the game, give it a chance. But a real chance. The game is fun and exciting. Besides the graphics are beautiful and the music is wonderful. There were minor changes in the events, which made it even better. I never imagined, a few months ago, that I would be praising a game I had condemned. But here I am, defending Let's Go and recommending to my friends. Expand

This was NEVER meant to be a version of the game used at tournaments, etc. If you thought it was, that's on you for not spending your 100$ (or 60$) more carefully, Game Freak even SAID AS MUCH when they announced it, following up the announcement that a real core-series game would be soon to follow.

Regardless, for what this game is meant to be, I am enjoying it very much so thus far. It is a laid back game where I can sit on my couch after work and enjoy myself for a short bit before sleep.

    Graphics: 7/10

While not quite the major difference I had originally expected with the move to Switch, they are fairly decent. I enjoy seeing the Pokémon depicted in this great of detail, as it is a noticeable improvement even from the most recent iteration on the 3DS (Ultra Sun/Moon).

    Gameplay: 9/10

As mentioned earlier, I knew what this game was intentioned to be, and it performs brilliantly as that. It is a much more relaxed version of the core series games, either meant to bring more casual players into the fold or (Tin foil hat on) a sort of test-run for the core series game coming later. I enjoy using the Pokeball plus controller to play the game and using it to catch wild pokemon. While I do miss having battles in the wild, the fact that "grinding" is still available through catching repeatedly AND that loop is reinforced via sending duplicates to the Professor (and receiving EV candies in return), it works for me. Currently have gotten to the 4th gym and have thouroughly enjoyed myself thus far.

    Performance: 9/10

Not much to say here, the motion controls have worked great with the custom controller so far. I have experienced ONE issue of Framerate drops (In Viridian Forest) and it lasted roughly 3 seconds. No glaring issues to speak of here at all.

    Sound: 10/10

I love the updated soundtrack for this game , deriving most of its music from Red/Blue/Yellow and simply updating it from the 16-bit sound from the games or yore. Maybe due to nostalgia, maybe not, but the first time I fought a gym leader in this game I was distinctly reminded of a 9 year old me , sneaking to stay awake in my bunk bed to keep playing and finally get to Brock the first time. Absolutely nothing negative to report from the Soundtrack from my perspective, excellent work.

The reviewers that rated it a 0 or a 1 or even a 2 were indeed immature by being so negative about it, though I do get that it feels like a slap across the face for them; look on **** board /vp/, they're very... 'passionate' about Pokemon. But come on, it is just a bit childish to hate on an otherwise beautiful game just for the sake of making it look bad.

I myself haven't played the games but I've seen enough footage from livestreams and playthroughs to know that Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are not games for me, nor will they ever be because they do not appeal to me.
However, though I am of the opinion they are a bit lacklustre when it comes to how the experience feels, as I don't feel wowed, just mildly entertained and at that point the grinding for Pokemon just feels tedious when there's no thrill of battle. But truly, the games are gorgeously crafted, the remade soundtracks are amazing and you can really see they tried their best to stick to their plan and made an easy to pick up game for kids to enjoy and get into with a cutesie artstyle and everything with it.

    So to conclude my statement;
While the game does deserve it's criticism for lacking in various important areas such as replayability, thrill management and depth of the game, it doesn't deserve the beatdown it is getting for it is still a stunningly gorgeous game carefully crafted with lots of time, effort, passion and especially a lot of love for Pokemon and that is where the game truly shines.

It is easily worth a solid 14 out of 10 for how beautiful it is, though it does deserve a critical 4 out of 10 for the fact it'll be lacklustre after 14 to 17 hours of the game.

Is it worth the 60 euro price tag? Not so much.
Is it still worth trying out at a cheaper price if you want to? Definitely.

Looking at these "Let's GO" games and feeling let down because of how much it looks like the mobile game came in and "ruined" the main series. I had the same concerns myself when I first saw the announcement trailer. The one thing that made me start giving "Let's GO" a chance was the announcement that this was a side game, and that we are still getting a brand new main series game in 2019 that is much closer to how previous games played. With all of that out of the way, let's dive into how I feel after almost 10 hours of "Let's GO, Eevee!".

Starting with the bad, I'm still not completely sold on the motion controls and would have preferred those being optional. That said, they have worked pretty decently for me while docked. In handheld mode it's incredibly frustrating though. With how shaky trying to capture something is while sitting still I don't even want to imagine how bad trying to do so in the passenger seat of a car would be. Here's hoping they add the option to turn handheld motion off in a future update. This is pretty much the only bad thing I have to say about the game at this point.

Surprisingly, I actually like the no wild battles more than I thought I would. There's a decent amount of challenge for some Pokemon encounters where they are jumping all over the screen while you try to time and aim your throw just right. The "Pokemon GO" like scoring system for better throws and chain catching the same Pokemon giving more EXP also feels really good. It seems like there are a lot more NPCs that want to battle you so there is still a lot of battling to do as you make your way to your next part of the story. I also really like the concept of chaining Pokemon to increase your chances of getting better stats, shinies, and having more rare Pokemon start spawning. And having Pokemon spawn around you in the world instead of as a random encounter is also really nice. It makes the world feel more alive and lets you pick and choose your battles. That said, they don't make it easy. I've had Pokemon spawn right in front of me on occasion, and some of them zip around making maneuvering around them difficult in tight spaces.

As far as presentation goes I'd say the art style fits very nicely. It fits the excellent style from the past games kicked up a few notches thanks to the better hardware. I tend to prefer my games more stylized as opposed to realistic because stylized games tend to age much better. Pokemon's style has been refined over the years, but largely stayed with the same core and "Let's GO" is the best it's looked so far. The music is simply fantastic. They captured what the classic 8bit versions felt like back in the day and preserved that in the transition from beeps and chirps to instrumentals. The story is more or less the same as it always was. It's not the deepest story, but when has Pokemon ever had a terribly deep story. You go out to catch Pokemon, beat gyms, and be the best like no one ever was. The journey is more about what Pokemon you find along the way and watching them grow. That is something that's still very much present in "Let's GO".

Over all I feel that this is an excellent addition to the Pokemon series. It's not perfect, but it is better than expected. I think there are some great ideas here that should be carried forward to the rest of the series, albeit with more options so players can better tailor the experience to their liking. I look forward to next year's new Pokemon game, and I'm hoping "Let's GO" does well enough for them to give us a Gen 2 revisit in this style with improvements to the system.

It has a fresh, new, beautiful take on the Kanto region. It’s never looked this good or alive. There’s so much care put into this game, and so many different delights. There's also no real "paywalls" either, since the only content locked behind a paywall is a children's peripheral that holds a Pokémon, that has no bearing on completing the Dex, and is outclassed in combat by various other 'mons.

    -no more HM slaves needed
-no more random encounter frustration, you can now see the pokemon in the grass, helps both with catching what you want and immersion, it was always weird how 3m tall pokemon could hide in a knee deep bush
    -flying high makes traveling easier
-definitely more challenging than the last pokemon game I played (which was Y)
-even though I didn´t like Pokemon GO I thought the catch mechanics are surprisingly fun
-characters actually acknowledge you as the champion after beating the elite four
-chain catching pokemon makes the wanted pokemon spawn in a higher rate, making grinding less time consuming
-I personally didn´t like the item holding mechanics of previous games, so I´m glad it´s gone but this is really just my own taste
-graphics (textures, attack effects, models) look more polished and less "cheap 3D" than the last title I´ve played (again Pokemon Y)

    Cons:
-even though harder than previous titles it is still way too easy
-shared XP can´t be turned off
-even though flying high is neat it is wonky to turn off and on, you have to press at least 7 buttons and navigate through 2 menus to get your pokemon in and out of the pokeball to start and stop flying high
-having to buy a 20€ pokeball controller to get Mew is kind of an ass move, but it´s not necessary to have Mew to complete the pokedex and get the end game charm so I don´t really care
-master trainers do not provide enough entertainment to really count as end game content
-overall end game content is rather short, after beating the elite four I had to catch/evolve ~50 more pokemon to finish the pokedex and I could do it in two afternoons
-at parts like silph co there are way too many trainers, makes the game feel extremely slow, instead of 6 trainers who fight you with one or 2 pokemon they should have 2 trainers with 6 pokemon, makes the game more difficult and you have to wait through fewer transition screens
-the rival is not a rival, there is no dynamic between the main character and him and no real emotion (more believable characters please)

Overall I had more fun with this game than with any other pokemon game in a very long time, even though some things like the uninteresting rival felt unnecessary.

I have played Pokemon games since the red and blue days and have been a fan of the series since. (skipped diamond and pearl series unfortunately) but played everything else. I have adapted to every change the series has implemented and still do this day, there is not one RPG Pokemon game I dislike because they all focus on their primary purpose.

So far, I have played about 8 hours of this game and taken down 3 gyms. I'll get the negatives out of the way first.

    - The catching mechanic. Most of the time its not responsive with the motion controls and I hate how you can't battle wild Pokemon. As most people would agree who are veterans in the series or even if you have played one of the previous entries, it takes away an aspect of what makes the series great.

    - The candy system. Not all of it is bad, but it feels quite effortless to strengthen your pokemon when all you need to do is transfer pokemon and get different types of candies depending on the pokemon transferred. Its clever in a way, but could have been implemented better.

Aside from those, the changes are for the better in my honest opinion. I can understand why people in the competitive scene are frustrated with these changes and hate the game, but I really believe that those features don't actually define a Pokemon game, however serve as a great addition for end game. The primary objectives are to battle, raise and collect pokemon which this game truly delivers on. A lot of the things people are complaining about are things that were incredibly tedious in the lead up to the result people were after in previous entries.
The perfect example is breeding. First of all, none of that was in red/blue/yellow. Second of all, mindlessly breeding Pokemon and trying days/weeks to get 100% IV saps the fun out of it. Thats not saying it wasn't rewarding and I can see the appeal, but too much of it became boring and repetitive while taking the spirit out of what Pokemon is really all about.

This game goes back to the core. When it all began but in HD. There aren't as many features because its only Kanto. You dont need a fancy trade system, you dont need to have abilities. Its kept simplified and easy for everyone to get into. (whoever added the feature where you can swap Pokemon in and out of your party at anytime needs a promotion by the way.) I was in the competitive scene a bit during the X/Y days and while I enjoyed it to an extent and had some super fun battles with friends, it doesn't define what pokemon is all about. As long as you can battle pokemon, catch pokemon, battle gym leaders, take on the pokemon league, catch legendaries and take in the scenery/story, thats all a pokemon game needs which this game has.

In short, if you just want a fun experience where the core features of pokemon are what matters to you most, I recommend this. If you're expecting to create a competitive super team with breeding, abilities and held items. I can't recommend this at all. Also I have to admit, the price is quite steep for this game, but I find it very good so far.
If you're on the fence about it being easy, not all of it is. I have lost a couple of times but it can be very hand holding and I won't deny that. Don't let the barrage of negative reviews sway you from this game. If you liked red/blue/yellow, its basically the same thing but friendly for all ages and looks stunning.
This game ticks enough boxes for me and I've had heaps of fun with it :)

I was very 'eh' about this game initially. I remember first watching the trailer, losing my smile, and just kind of writing these games off as a do not buy. I kept watching trailers though, and eventually decided to give them a shot even if I didn't think they were going to do well. I was wrong. These games are amazing in every sense of the word. They're fun, beautiful looking, beautiful sounding with the remastered music, and a real throw back into the roots of what pokemon was meant to be.

Yes, wild battles are gone. Yes, breeding is gone. Yes, it only has the first 151 aside from the newly revealed pokemon, but it doesn't stop them from being fun. It has it's core elements and a lot of cool things they added that weren't even part of the original games. I won't say what those are to avoid spoiling, but it's worth your money. Even if you're eh like I was, you might just find yourself surprised.

I did buy the Pikachu version, but decided to post this here since they're basically the same game aside from which pokemon you start with.

I'm going to give an honest review/opinion of the game, regardless of any expectations we may have assumed was there.

This game is literally a Pokémon Yellow remake, just for the Switch, so it's going to be judged just like that. However, while it may just be yet another remake of the relentless Kanto fan service we've been given... it's still a very beautiful and detailed reimagination of sprites and pixels we saw around 20 years ago; this game does give Kanto another breath that we may not have gotten otherwise. Not saying we were in need of one but it's not a bad thing. The details and such that went into partner Pokémon, the overworld, etc, are all very very good.

At first I thought it was just getting another Pokémon Go game but now I'm seeing the appeal of the simplicity that is Let's Go. Just because it's simple, doesn't necessarily mean the game is easy; I see a lot of people are saying "we lack EV systems, blah blah competitive blah" but again, this game is literally a copy and paste of Yellow... which was also nearly as simple. Still, the battles can be difficult. Yes, my level 12 Pidgey might give a level 9 Squirtle a super smack down with a 1x effective attack, but a level 15 Jigglypuff will also give said Pidgey a super smack down with a 1x effective attack. To those saying that the game is super easy and underwhelming, it's because they are knowingly trying to squeeze out every ounce of competitive technique and apply it to a game that didn't know how to compensate, kinda like Pokémon Yellow... where a lot of this didn't exist anyway. Also when going for catching chains, you can put your main team away so they don't get the massive exp boost and then bring them back when you're done, etc. There are many ways for you to circumvent the generosity the game has towards newcomers. Finally, for the difficulty excuse, my Eevee actually had a hard time against Misty's Starmie and I was nearly wiped because I was under the impression that this game would be overly forgiving for me... such as using a fire type attack on Starmie- barely did any damage, and Starmie would soon show me that I made a folly.

Overall, because it IS a simple copy and paste of Yellow, I'm not saying it's the greatest game ever but it's no worse than the game we all loved 20 years ago. It's not promising anything next generation and serves likely as a beta test game for the Nintendo Switch, so don't act all entitled; we're getting that next year.

+I LOVE being able to see Pokemon on screen instead of random encounters
+The reimagining of Kanto makes this game very nostalgic for me
+As a person who levels all of their Pokemon I like the experience system
-The capture mechanic can be a little boring at times. I think if you had done some battling and then used the capture mechanic it might have worked better.
-The battles for the most part are VERY easy. I don't mind an easier Pokemon game but one or two hitting almost all enemies is a little too easy.

I think the graphics in the 3DS games were bad and grainy, and I ran them in a emulator for PC on a big screen to make them look soft and pretty. This looks like that. And the parts that are watered down, are the parts that made me want to stab my eyes out anyway, like the 100 hours of grinding and random battles. I hate random battles and this is so much better. The game is about catching Pokemon, and the new capture mechanic from Pokemon Go makes you feel like you're actually catchin' them Pokes!

For those "unique" individuals, I would have to say, that this game is not for you. If you're looking for a true, Pokemon RPG with all 1,000+ Pokemon, EV & IV Stat Training, Wild Pokemon Encounter Battles, etc., that game is coming next year. Pokemon Let's Go is very much about reliving the original experience while also bringing in a new generation of Pokemon Fans that maybe aren't familiar with the original story. In that regard, Pokemon Let's Go certainly succeeds, and I will have a hard time not recommending this to friends that also grew up with the original adventure in 1996.

However, after playing about 20 hours of the game and getting about half-way through the main story, I must say, I love this game. The change in how wild Pokemon catching works is actually quite good. The overall simplification of a game series that, in my opinion, was getting more complicated just to add complexity, feels right. Overall I love the new mechanic, and wouldn't mind seeing it added on-top of normal battling in future installments.

The graphics are also top-notch in this release, and I love how everything looks with the art style. Really can't do much more to make me happy here.

The only reason this game does not get 10/10 for me is a few minor issues.

1 - I wish it included more than the original 150 Pokemon and the Kanto region. I would love to see at least Gen II and III be represented here in the first installment.

2 - Battling in the main story has been downplayed a lot, I feel like battling trainers is almost not worth your time as they don't provide a lot of experience compared to simply capturing Pokemon.

3 - I am ready for a more adult/gritty Pokemon release, but this is true with all their games. Even you "rival" doesn't feel like a true competitor anymore like they did in the initial games

Otherwise, I feel like this game is a solid installment to the franchise, and I honestly hope that Game Freak and Nintendo keep going down this path.

As somebody that's been interested in Pokémon but turned off by recent entries, this game suits me.

In recent games, there's a huge pile of legacy systems that i'm not familiar with. I don't have experience with held items, EVs, breeding, competitive play and so on. I haven't been able to get into a Pokémon game like I have this one since back in the days of Gold and Silver.

Frustrations like wild pokemon encounters and difficult team management due to uneven leveling between pokemon have been sorted. HM's no longer use one of your move slots, and TM's can be used as often as you like. It feels like a Pokémon game where customisation is easy and you aren't punished for changing elements of your team or your pokemon as often as you like.

Graphically the game looks crisp, but isn't quite as aesthetically interesting as Pokémon Sun and Moon which had some very creative environments. Let's Go features familiar environments rendered in a crisp, minimalist style. It looks fine but it doesn't make you say wow.

Yes it's very cute, yes there are elements that are clearly aimed at kids, the game is easy and most team setups will be viable... But these issues don't take away from the fact that the game is a lot of fun, and it's the most fun i've had with a Pokémon game in a while. Perhaps this is an ideal entry point for the series? It depends how well the next title manages the learning curve.

If handled poorly, then there'll just be two seperate Pokémon series, one for casuals and one for hardcore... If handled properly, then this game could act as a gateway to bring Pokémon to whole new generations of people. We'll see what happens!

The story is just like that from the original anime and it's a great refreshing and nostalgic game. I don't think that it's really worth $60, that feels a little stretched but besides thats its a really great game.

It has this tutorial section where everything is simple and achieving anything is easy but it gets tougher later. Playing Pokemon for over 15 years I was happy to see many changes we always wanted to have - changing pokemon names easily, riding pokemon, taking them out of pokeball, actuall size of pokemon considered (man, is that onix huge!) and a lot of other stuff.

You wanna core game (dude, you'll have it later, okay)? Of course this one is not a core game, it's a nice remake with a little bit changed mechanics. But it works. Pleasing newcomers and veterans isn't simple. But if you really are a veteran, what's your problem with this game? It's a welcoming title for new people and a deep bow for your nostalgia.

    Anyway - I enjoy it. :)

I really do like this game; It;s nintendo trying something new with these pokemon games by making them more like pokemon go. I know that this game won't be for everyone, that was pretty much certain with the pokemon go like features, but damn this hate for something different is intense. Either way though, this game is a good game, even if it's different

While I was skeptical at first about the way wild encounters worked, it actually ended up being one the best features. Going through a cave, randomly getting attacked by 1,000,000 zubats was one of the most annoying things about older pokemon games. Now, I can pick and choose my battles, and seeing the pokemon actually moving around in the world is awesome.

The graphics in the game are amazing. Whether I was playing on the TV or handheld the pokemon looked great, and the animations for their attacks were even better.

Even the way that switching your pokemon in and out of your party is better. Instead of having to go to a computer at the pokecenter every time you want to change, instead you just open up your menu and switch whenever you want.

While the Pokemon Go catching aspect I dont truly care for, the rest of the game makes up for it, and I hope they employ some of these features in future games.

    onto the game though:
For what it's supposed to be it's a 10/10 for me. It's a kanto remake with a long postgame! Evrery single interaction with eevee is the most wholesome thing on earth! The game is a little easy but not as easy as everyone is portraying it to be. I had some pokemon die a lot but not my whole team. the world looks absolutely beautiful, the music is amazing the pokemon scaling and them following you is what we wished for for years and now no one's even acknowledging it... why? I also love the removal of random encounters because in every pokemon game I found myself just running away from everything felling like my time is being wasted. I also surprisingly like the pokemon go catching mechanic!
A negative point is maybe the way the npcs move in cutscenes: you find them moving in one direction, turning and moving on instead of just going diagonally. And the 2 player mode really isn't as cool as it was portrayed in the trailers. it makes the game wayyyy to easy because every battle is a two on one. they could have easily made it so that trainers who have more than one pokemon would send out two at a time.
that's what makes it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 for me because i was really hyped to play the game all the way with my pokemon loving friend that doesn't have a switch.

All in all this is an amazing experience and I'm not even remotely done with the main story!

Edit: so i played a lot more now and I gotta change it to a 10/10 because the game just got so much more difficult!! All my pokemon are underleveled even though i battled almost every trainer and caught a looot of mons! i had my whole team except one pokemon die twice and one of those times my Mew only had 10 hp left

After putting some hours into this game its clear to see exactly what and who this game is meant for. While other games in the last have focused on battling and progression this series is meant to focus on the aspect of collecting. As for the audience, I expect most people to either be new to the series or veterans playing to enjoy a causal experience while strolling through a region that may have impacted their childhood. Also being able to play Pokémon on the TV is a big plus. Overall, if you don't think the game is for you then you're probably right but that doesn't mean it not for everyone. This game isn't perfect but is really good. It's essentially a modern console remake of red/blue/yellow with the battle system of Pokemon Go for wild encounters. Instead of battling them to low health and throwing poke-balls at them you just throw poke-balls at them based on timing. If it weren't for not being able to battle wild pokemon I would rate a 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This entry is targeted for newcomers to the series and GameFreak made no excuses.
If you haven't ever picked up a Pokemon game or have maybe tried out the Pokemon Go experience than this would be the game for you.
Veterans would have to wait fo Sword and Shield to come out and take a bite out of it.

The game is great on many levels- visuals, animation, music, pokemon's looks amazing on the TV.
Probably the biggest nerf in the game compared to any other Pokemon game out there is the fact that you do not battle the wild pokemon's you encounter in the wild- you simply catch them. And that for me was the biggest minus because it takes away from the "fun grinding" that is Pokemon. You have to fight to catch them.

Beyond that the story of Let's go plays out much like it's original with a few changes to make it easier for the new players.

The battles in the game are actually quite great and exciting and they look amazing as well. One thing that I found to be made easier but to no purpose was the fact that most of the people you battle along the roads have only one (maximum 2) pokemon's, witch makes the battle seem a bit easy.
The Gym leaders and their followers do add a bit of extra challenge to the mix and the Elite Four are quite the treat and a true test of the skills you have acquired along the way.

All in all this might not be a game for the fans of the franchise, but newcomers will find it the best introduction to the series yet.

    I. loved. these. games. LGPE is a wonderfully nostalgic, heartwarming remake of my favorite pokemon generation. I was hesitant at first that ending wild pokemon battles would compromise the game's playability, but I actually ended up liking the new mechanic, a lot more than wild battles. they could make it a little more complex, but I do like the catching mechanic. I wont deny that LGPE are easy, but they are also FUN. The only thing I would like to see improved is post-game content. there's completing the pokedex, shiny pokemon hunting and the master trainers which are all great, but I would have liked to see the Sevii islands like in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

these 0/10 reviews are bogus. Nintendo has been upfront since day one of the release, stating it would be a game to introduce new players (young, old, and yes Pokemon GO players) into pokemon console gaming. People don't realize that this was an EXTRA pokemon game release, we normally only get a new game every two years. we got USUM in 2017, LGPE this year and we're getting the new generation in 2019... if you don't want to buy the game then don't. Nintendo thought outside of the box with this new concept, and it's clearly paid off. so continue to complain as much as you want, but it looks like this is going to end up becoming a core series along side the new generations of pokemon games, and I will happily be first in line getting each new remake.

However, it looks stunning, it isn't glitchy, it has many different outfits which is always nice. My personal score is a 6 or 7 out of ten, depending on the day, but I do believe that you SHOULD play this game if you are a fan of the fantastic series we call Pokemon, also, don't listen to the people saying that this game is bad, it is a stunning game and if you asked me to 100% this before generations 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 (Not Gen 5 because that is my personal favourite), I would probably say yes to that. it is a highly recommended game on the Nintendo Switch.
But Nintendo, if you're for some reason reading this, I would really like to see a blend of the old catching mechanic and the new one, where you can fight it first with the old Pokemon mechanics, then you can attempt to catch it with the Pokemon GO mechanics or faint it.

This is essentially a retelling of the first pokemon game ever created, but with simplified features from the Pokemon Go mobile game. I think it was an excellent introduction back into the series, as it largely had aspects of a full-fledged pokemon game but with simplified mechanics and progression. These were refreshing when compared to the stressful, convoluted mechanics behind most pokemon games, that normally caused me to abandon them when I played before.

I absolutely loved my time here. Catching all of the pokemon was very fun and while I missed battling being a primary focus of the game, I appreciated that the new catching mechanics made accomplishing goals more streamlined, like getting high IV pokemon. This was vastly superior to the traditional, obsessive breeding chains that most other pokemon games have. Additionally, catching was more skill based than before, with motion controls for throwing the pokeball and having to track the movements of the pokemon to catch them. Overall, it made catching, one of the less-focused aspects of pokemon (perhaps ironically), a major, fun draw of the game.

What this meant for me was that, for the first time in series history, I was able to accomplish my goals in the game. I completed the pokedex, I created a high-IV team of my own and leveled them to 100, I was able to complete all the post-game content I wanted to thanks to this team, and I was able to acquire all the post-game items. This is the first time I felt those goals were reachable, instead of being behind a long and torturous game mechanics wall. The game was straightforward to play, something I appreciate in my modern life, and all of these new aspects meant the game was fun instead of tedious. The risk/reward system behind trying to keep a chain of catches going was crazy exciting to me and I sometimes found myself performing them just for the fun of it. I am so glad that I got back into one of my favorite genres of games and am very much looking forward to other pokemon games releasing in the future.

Very casual games, but with pokemon, that's not a problem for me at all. The graphics are kinda nice, the music is outstanding and they absolutely nailed ride and following pokemon (and then forgot how to do it in SwSh and BDSP), wich shouldn't mean so much to me, but it does. It also really nicely remixes the original encounter tables and introduces overworld pokemon to the series!

    Pikachu and Eve are cute.
I think it is more fun than Pokemon sod shield.
If you do it at first, you might be a little embarrassed because you catch Pokemon without a battle, but it's fun in its own way.

Overall, I did have a blast playing Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. I did like visiting all the cities of the original Pokémon games again and seeing all the original Pokémon. However, I really did not like how they changed how you capture Pokémon and I did not like the setup of the Pokémon boxes. For those who want to play this game for nostalgia reasons, I would recommend waiting until a sale comes out before purchasing. For newcomers to Pokémon, this is a really good introduction into the world of Kanto.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
