Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee me ha gustado mucho más de lo esperado. Un remake de los clásicos Rojo, Azul y Amarillo precioso, con gráficos y animaciones muy buenas y 3D. Very casual games, but with pokemon, that's not a problem for me at all. The graphics are kinda nice, the music is outstanding and they absolutely nailed ride and following pokemon (and then forgot how to do it in SwSh and BDSP), wich shouldn't mean so much to me, but it does. It also really nicely remixes the original encounter tables and introduces overworld pokemon to the series!

I love the changes they've added in here to make this title more casual friendly. I love the pokemon series and have played since red and blue but sometimes it can be frustrating when you just want a relaxing stroll through the world. The lets go games scratch that itch and tide me over between the more standard titles.

Pokemon lets go is the best way to play gen 1, catching pokemon feels great, graphics are incredible, controls are decent, Seeing pokemon in the overworld is a great addition which I hope stays in the main line games, You cannot use the pro controller which is a minor downside, Your starter cannot evolve which is kinda sad, but it stays true to pokemon yellow. I give this game a 10/10.

    Pikachu and Eve are cute.
I think it is more fun than Pokemon sod shield.
If you do it at first, you might be a little embarrassed because you catch Pokemon without a battle, but it's fun in its own way.

If you haven't ever picked up a Pokemon game or have maybe tried out the Pokemon Go experience than this would be the game for you.
Veterans would have to wait fo Sword and Shield to come out and take a bite out of it.

The game is great on many levels- visuals, animation, music, pokemon's looks amazing on the TV.
Probably the biggest nerf in the game compared to any other Pokemon game out there is the fact that you do not battle the wild pokemon's you encounter in the wild- you simply catch them. And that for me was the biggest minus because it takes away from the "fun grinding" that is Pokemon. You have to fight to catch them.

Beyond that the story of Let's go plays out much like it's original with a few changes to make it easier for the new players.

The battles in the game are actually quite great and exciting and they look amazing as well. One thing that I found to be made easier but to no purpose was the fact that most of the people you battle along the roads have only one (maximum 2) pokemon's, witch makes the battle seem a bit easy.
The Gym leaders and their followers do add a bit of extra challenge to the mix and the Elite Four are quite the treat and a true test of the skills you have acquired along the way.

All in all this might not be a game for the fans of the franchise, but newcomers will find it the best introduction to the series yet.

This game isn't perfect but is really good. It's essentially a modern console remake of red/blue/yellow with the battle system of Pokemon Go for wild encounters. Instead of battling them to low health and throwing poke-balls at them you just throw poke-balls at them based on timing. If it weren't for not being able to battle wild pokemon I would rate a 10.

This is essentially a retelling of the first pokemon game ever created, but with simplified features from the Pokemon Go mobile game. I think it was an excellent introduction back into the series, as it largely had aspects of a full-fledged pokemon game but with simplified mechanics and progression. These were refreshing when compared to the stressful, convoluted mechanics behind most pokemon games, that normally caused me to abandon them when I played before.

I absolutely loved my time here. Catching all of the pokemon was very fun and while I missed battling being a primary focus of the game, I appreciated that the new catching mechanics made accomplishing goals more streamlined, like getting high IV pokemon. This was vastly superior to the traditional, obsessive breeding chains that most other pokemon games have. Additionally, catching was more skill based than before, with motion controls for throwing the pokeball and having to track the movements of the pokemon to catch them. Overall, it made catching, one of the less-focused aspects of pokemon (perhaps ironically), a major, fun draw of the game.

What this meant for me was that, for the first time in series history, I was able to accomplish my goals in the game. I completed the pokedex, I created a high-IV team of my own and leveled them to 100, I was able to complete all the post-game content I wanted to thanks to this team, and I was able to acquire all the post-game items. This is the first time I felt those goals were reachable, instead of being behind a long and torturous game mechanics wall. The game was straightforward to play, something I appreciate in my modern life, and all of these new aspects meant the game was fun instead of tedious. The risk/reward system behind trying to keep a chain of catches going was crazy exciting to me and I sometimes found myself performing them just for the fun of it. I am so glad that I got back into one of my favorite genres of games and am very much looking forward to other pokemon games releasing in the future.

Being able to explore the world of Pokemon with the creatures actually moving about, being able to throw Pokeballs at them (like I already pretended to do when I was a tiny nerd), and revisit the region where it all started in a full console setting... It was a dream come true. As a reimagining, this game did not fail to disappoint in the slightest. All the classic tracks redone in a BEAUTIFUL orchestra, every trainer and route identical with the only changes to the game being small quality of life improvements (aside from Safari Zone, we all still miss it), and the iconic moments were all redone with cinematic cutscenes to fully flush out what a masterpiece the original games were. Even the named characters intros and facial reaction paid detail to showing their personalities and really making them pop out even amongst the already detailed NPCs.

If you're someone who's like me where catching the Pokemon, the story, and the world always meant so much more than competitive battling, you will not regret this amazing game. We didn't 'go back to Gen 1' with this game, Gen 1 came back to us.

However, it looks stunning, it isn't glitchy, it has many different outfits which is always nice. My personal score is a 6 or 7 out of ten, depending on the day, but I do believe that you SHOULD play this game if you are a fan of the fantastic series we call Pokemon, also, don't listen to the people saying that this game is bad, it is a stunning game and if you asked me to 100% this before generations 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 (Not Gen 5 because that is my personal favourite), I would probably say yes to that. it is a highly recommended game on the Nintendo Switch.
But Nintendo, if you're for some reason reading this, I would really like to see a blend of the old catching mechanic and the new one, where you can fight it first with the old Pokemon mechanics, then you can attempt to catch it with the Pokemon GO mechanics or faint it.

I was hesitant at first that ending wild pokemon battles would compromise the game's playability, but I actually ended up liking the new mechanic, a lot more than wild battles. they could make it a little more complex, but I do like the catching mechanic. I wont deny that LGPE are easy, but they are also FUN. The only thing I would like to see improved is post-game content. there's completing the pokedex, shiny pokemon hunting and the master trainers which are all great, but I would have liked to see the Sevii islands like in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

these 0/10 reviews are bogus. Nintendo has been upfront since day one of the release, stating it would be a game to introduce new players (young, old, and yes Pokemon GO players) into pokemon console gaming. People don't realize that this was an EXTRA pokemon game release, we normally only get a new game every two years. we got USUM in 2017, LGPE this year and we're getting the new generation in 2019... if you don't want to buy the game then don't. Nintendo thought outside of the box with this new concept, and it's clearly paid off. so continue to complain as much as you want, but it looks like this is going to end up becoming a core series along side the new generations of pokemon games, and I will happily be first in line getting each new remake.

Before I start I want to make clear that I´m not a competitive pokemon player so I´m merely looking at the "fun" factor, which definitely makes this one worth buying even though it is has it´s flaws.

I´ll try to be as objective as I can but bare in mind I´m looking at this game as someone who started playing when Pokemon Blue came out and I played every version except Sun/Moon, but

I´ll try to be as objective as I can but bare in mind I´m looking at this game as someone who started playing when Pokemon Blue came out and I played every version except Sun/Moon, but again, never as a competitive player so I won´t say anything about balancing in PvP.

    Pros:
    -no more HM slaves needed
-no more random encounter frustration, you can now see the pokemon in the grass, helps both with catching what you want and immersion, it was always weird how 3m tall pokemon could hide in a knee deep bush
    -flying high makes traveling easier
-definitely more challenging than the last pokemon game I played (which was Y)
-even though I didn´t like Pokemon GO I thought the catch mechanics are surprisingly fun
-characters actually acknowledge you as the champion after beating the elite four
-chain catching pokemon makes the wanted pokemon spawn in a higher rate, making grinding less time consuming
-I personally didn´t like the item holding mechanics of previous games, so I´m glad it´s gone but this is really just my own taste
-graphics (textures, attack effects, models) look more polished and less "cheap 3D" than the last title I´ve played (again Pokemon Y)

    Cons:
-even though harder than previous titles it is still way too easy
-shared XP can´t be turned off
-even though flying high is neat it is wonky to turn off and on, you have to press at least 7 buttons and navigate through 2 menus to get your pokemon in and out of the pokeball to start and stop flying high
-having to buy a 20€ pokeball controller to get Mew is kind of an ass move, but it´s not necessary to have Mew to complete the pokedex and get the end game charm so I don´t really care
-master trainers do not provide enough entertainment to really count as end game content
-overall end game content is rather short, after beating the elite four I had to catch/evolve ~50 more pokemon to finish the pokedex and I could do it in two afternoons
-at parts like silph co there are way too many trainers, makes the game feel extremely slow, instead of 6 trainers who fight you with one or 2 pokemon they should have 2 trainers with 6 pokemon, makes the game more difficult and you have to wait through fewer transition screens
-the rival is not a rival, there is no dynamic between the main character and him and no real emotion (more believable characters please)

Overall I had more fun with this game than with any other pokemon game in a very long time, even though some things like the uninteresting rival felt unnecessary.

The good: the graphics overhaul, no random encounters, Pokemon following you, bonding with your Pokemon, story remixing, streamlining of the overall system

The bad: forced motion controls, Pokeball plus not being that useful, not being able to send Pokemon to Pokemon Go

I watched on TV all my life around me and even the pokéball pitch that I had condemned so much in the end was fun. I played with him for wanting to play and I got infected. I saw how wrong I was to have judged a game, only by a few traillers, condemning the changes, without even experiencing them. I was captivated by the game. I had fun in a Pokémon game, something that had not happened for years, since there was no fun in the others, which were more centered, so to speak. Let's Go Pikachu was a fun experience and decides to buy the Eevee version, as I found the Eevee cute and got the female with the heart-shaped spot on the tail. Me and my boyfriend happened to switch pokémons, because of the exclusive versions. All I have to say is: Those who are undecided or who condemned the game, give it a chance. But a real chance. The game is fun and exciting. Besides the graphics are beautiful and the music is wonderful. There were minor changes in the events, which made it even better. I never imagined, a few months ago, that I would be praising a game I had condemned. But here I am, defending Let's Go and recommending to my friends. Expand

I decided to give them a chance for the "junk game," as many people said, and I discovered that they were just blind haters. Because when playing, I was excited. My niece had Let's Go Eevee and as I played, I was overwhelmed by a strong feeling of nostalgia and I became excited with each catch, interact with the Pokémon, they followed you, being the difference interactions. I decided to buy Let's Go Eevee to have a game of mine and not have to make an excuse to stay at my sister's house when I wanted to play. I started playing in my house and I was falling in love. Soon I saw that the criticisms I read so much were unfounded and the result of haters, which only turned away hatred blind and intense. I researched and saw that it would be a parallel line of games and I loved that idea. It will have the traditional line and this parallel. I was thrilled when my world expanded at the end of the Elite Four. Seriously, I was happy when I saw myself flying high in the sky, crossing the map at will on the back of my Charizard. Seeing everything from above was indescribable and the challenge of the Masters, very challenging. I thought to pass them and luckily, I bought pokéball plus. I was able to challenge Mew's master. I finished Let's Go Eevee, I bought Let's Go Pikachu. I'm in Elite Four and I barely see the time of my world being expanded. I super indicate this game and I ask to ignore the haters. Give the game a chance, just like I did and I'm glad I gave it a chance, otherwise I would have missed a fun and exciting game. I never had fun in a game of pokémon, as it was in these games. Many of the advanced features for competitive play have been removed, but for a game that is meant to draw in a new group of people that makes sense. In the end I would have liked to see the Sevii Islands from Fire/Leaf, but since that was used to let players get newer Pokemon it would not have made much sense to add them in without overhauling them greatly.

Pokemon Let's GO gets a 8/10 from me, fun, enjoyable, and Eevee is cute as hell.

The Lack of a safari zone is a little on the rough side, but the entire game is a safari zone.
Honestly, though this game does a few things right. It makes a situation that old time Pokemon Fans and Pokemon go Players can just jump right in. It also brings in the ability to re-battle gym leaders and omg it brings in Green. Honestly petting Eevee in this game felt like another pokemon amie session. Not saying that's bad, as eevee is adorable in this game. What this game lacks in some features is offset by the careful craftsmanship and attention to detail in this game. Yes, it's a Yellow remake and a faithful one of that. You didn't have a bunch of other pokemon clouding you in you didn't have abilities to worry about. You just play the game.
I didn't like the rival, but it was fun picking on the guy. It felt like a role reversal. He felt like Hau. I personally named him after some of my friends just so I can pick on them saying I'm beating them. As he was just too much of a friend and not enough of Blue or Silver. Speaking of Blue you do run into him and battle him which is great, and honestly, his attitude isn't really changed. he still the same smug ****
I would recommend and have recommended this game to anyone that I believe would have an interest in it. It's a charming game, and a great entry point for new pokemon fans.

While certainly not "Game of the Year" material, both "Eevee" and "Pikachu" are delightful games. Speaking as someone who hasn't played a Pokemon game since "Yellow" was brand new, it is a great way of re-introducing myself to the franchise. And, just as importantly, it will be a great way for me to introduce my niece to the franchise in a couple years.

I did enjoy the motion control for the ball throwing despite some occasional gyro misalignment glitches here and there. Despite my personal thoughts on how to improve the catching mechanics (such as a "Perfect Throw" ring when it's really small), everything works well and actually fits the game nicely.

The Safari Zone being reduced to nothing more than a "Pokemon Go" interface did hurt and I do miss the threat of a wild battle happening at any random time when exploring, but the game as a whole is still an enjoyable time killer. The only real legitimate complaint I have is the $50 pay-wall for Mew which will likely prevent me from getting 100% PokeDex because I'm not buying an expensive peripheral for one game. Made that mistake for "Guitar Hero".

It has some nice complexity with the IV system for the late gameplay if you want to pursue those areas.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do the other generations (2-current) so I could give them a try without having to invest in the older consoles/games.

If you played the older games (Red/Blue/Yellow) then, chances are, you'll enjoy this game too.
If you're new to the franchise, it's a good way to dip your toes in without feeling overwhelmed while also offering the chance to further explore some of the earlier complexities.
If you're a parent looking to buy a game to keep your kids distracted, this will work fine.

Do recommend for any Pokemon fan; both new and old.

First, I'll address the issue that the game is too easy. Yes, the game can be relatively easy, but like other installments, it is only as easy as you decide to make it on yourself. I ditched my starter at the earliest opportunity and completely disregarded the component of interacting with it. Eevee certainly was uncharacteristically strong. In addition to not using Eevee in battles, I maintained a large roster of Pokemon that I switched out frequently. Because XP was easier to come by, I was able to keep more Pokemon leveled for battle than I have in any previous games without grinding. In past games, I have been somewhat limited to 6-8 Pokemon, and often had to grind XP by battling wild Pokemon in order to keep them at the appropriate level. This time, I ended up with a roster of 16 or so Pokemon over level 50 by the time I reached the Elite Four. In the past, I've always felt I had to choose between abandoning the use of certain Pokemon or spending hours grinding to maintain their levels. If you're a fan of maintaining a large roster, I think you'll really enjoy this aspect, like I did. By having a large pool of Pokemon to choose from, I was able to customize the challenge i faced in battles. Against Blaine, I could choose to take Blastoise, Seadra, Sandslash, and Rhyhorn, or for more of a challenge I could take Vileplume, Venomoth, Venusaur, and Dewgong. Or any combination of these and my other numerous Pokemon to suit my taste.

Next, let's talk about changes in mechanics. Lots of people have complained about many of the changes, so I'll start with what I like. The fact that random wild encounters are virtually eliminated is big improvement in my mind. Sometimes wild Pokemon will dart at you, but for the most part, you can choose whether to encounter them or not. This eliminated the sense of dread I've felt in the past from wandering around areas with wild Pokemon by having to constantly run away from the millionth Rattata or exhaust my PP Thunderbolting the millionth Zubat. I will say that it would have been nice if you had the option to either battle or try to capture wild Pokemon. It would be easy to implement and people could take it as they liked it. Players have been clamoring to take their Pokemon out of Pokeballs and ride them since I can remember, and they finally gave it to us. This is just one of the many ways that they made this game feel immersive. Lastly, the built-in Pokemon rater was a nice change. It removed the need to use a calculator to determine IVs or unknowingly draft a low quality Pokemon on to your team.

And now for my criticisms. The severe shortage of double battles feels odd, particularly since they are in the game, but only a handful. It seems like they wasted their time building in this mechanic only to barely use it at all. The only removed mechanic I found myself missing was abilities. I think they were a huge improvement when they were introduced. I realize they wanted to make the game more accessible, but I don't think that would have been hampered too much by the inclusion of abilities. Perhaps they could have made them visible by announcing them. Haunter is levitating, ground attacks will be useless, or Raichu is absorbing electricity, electric attacks will only make it stronger. Something like that seems preferable to removing them altogether. Lastly, I have no desire to pet or play with Eevee. I appreciated the fact that the game didn't try to force me to do this, but I guess it's there for people who wanted to do it. This was, at worst, a minor annoyance that I easily disregarded. Although I didn't battle with Eevee or level it, I have seen the names of its moves online, and I have to agree that they are ridiculous and overly silly. I guess they just planned to include them for this game and didn't want to use any names that could be reused for an attack later, but it still seems like they could have erred on the side of not silly.

Despite its flaws, I found myself continually wanting to pick this up and play it. There is a certain je ne sais quoi that kept me coming back. I really liked many of the improvements and hope they implement some of the changes in future installments. Hopefully, Game Freak takes this as a learning experience and keeps the good and eliminates the bad. All in all, I am glad I played it. It was a lot of fun, and in many ways the Pokemon experience I've been craving since I was 10.

Having played the Pokemon games all my life since they were first released on a Gameboy, I feel like this was the first time I had played Pokemon in years.

Why, you may ask? Well over the years as I learned to use the various game mechanics (IV'S EV'S etc.) to my advantage, all the Pokemon (even new releases) just became numbers for me. They didn't feel like Pokemon anymore. I didn't feel like I was playing a Pokemon game, instead I was just playing a numbers game where you could replace the Pokemon with static stick men and nothing would change.

This game was a refreshing change in that it removed most of the numbers and made the focus on catching Pokemon (You know, gotta catch 'em all, and all that?). I felt like a kid again, I felt like I just wanted to catch them all just because I could, and not just because I felt I needed a specific stick man for breeding to get some specific skill for another stick man.

The game however was a bit too easy, but it didn't really bother me because I was having fun, honest to god fun. Something I hadn't experienced in ANY game for a long long while. Just good old fun with no calculating optimal stick figure builds or the weight of the world weighing down on my shoulders. I was on a journey with Pokemon, and that's all there was to it.

However as much I liked this nice little break between Pokemon games I still feel the next game should be a more traditional game. This game, even though I did enjoy it as a nice break, should indeed stay as just a break from the usual formula. There's just something about building the perfect stick man. Something other games can't really nail down.

I don't know why this game has upset so many people. I don't think people are remembering Blue, Red, and Yellow correctly if they think this game is doing a disservice to them. There have been some changes made to the mechanics, like how you interact with wild Pokemon, but I am thoroughly enjoying the game. It is what finally pushed me to buy a Switch.

There are many games that rely on plain nostalgia to sell. Most of us who are spending the money are aware of this so no one is being conned. In addition, Yellow is almost 20 years old, so the people who are experiencing the nostalgia are probably between 30 - 40 years old (like myself). At that age, you should be completely competent to decide if $60 is too much to spend on your childhood nostalgia. I believe mine was extremely well spent and this is a great purchase for anyone who wants to relive that nostalgia, or to introduce new people into the Pokemon-verse.

Finding pokemon with good IVs is now something you work towards using both skill and determination, instead of blind luck. HMs no longer take move slots. There is just so much to love here and the blind hate it's getting is really sad...

The pokeball plus is amazing in this game. Taking my pokemon to work with my and watching their levels skyrocket when I get home is such a great feeling, way better than the pikachu accessory I had as a kid that would reward me with pure **** It's also a great controller in it's own right for this specific game...

That all said, the game is far from perfect. The cuteness overload of your companion is overwhelming at times. The game is WAY too easy and will stay that way if you take full advantage of the mechanics, you kinda control the difficulty yourself depending on how you play. The control options are limited, internet options are kind of a joke, and you still only have one save(per profile anyways). There is definitely some give and take here, but IMO if this count as a main line pokemon game, it's easily the best since gold/silver... Here's hoping for a Johto DLC!

The additional trainers to battle, as well as the postgame Master Trainers, adds a good amount of content to an HD presentation of Yellow.
Me equivocaba.
    Contras

Second I would like to state if you did not play this video game you should not review it. Third this is not a main Pokemon generation game. Pokemon have many side games and remakes this is just one of them.

Now to the review- I started out with the mindset that this game would be bad. I love Pokemon and so I tried the new game and it took me by surprise. I love what they did with the game, the world feels alive. You walk to an area and Pokemon are walking and flying around just like you would imagine in a real Pokemon world. I can now choose who I would like to catch. They use the Pokemon go system when catching Pokemon and you can use different balls and bait to make it easier to catch. You can get rare Pokemon to come out with lures and with increased catch combo. You get XP for catching Pokemon based on the catch and size. Pokemon battles are the same as all games you give people the stare and they walk up to you and battle. The game has tons of Pokemon trainer battles and not all of them are easy. I found myself preparing and changing my Pokemon out to counter what types of Pokemon the other trainer had. I find that in most gen Pokemon games I don't even have to counter as long as my Pokemon are high level I just wipe the floor with them so this provided a bit more of a challenge. You also don't have to walk to a PC anymore you can switch Pokemon anytime in your inventory which I like. I also felt that we had more interactions with our Pokemon since they didn't have to stay in a ball the whole time. I liked playing with my eevee and dressing them up.

This game isn't perfect though by any means but no game is. I had issues with the catching controls at times. I preferred just playing it with the controllers attached rather then using them separate from the switch since it was easier to control. The story is a bit lacking but it is a remake of the first game which didn't have much of a story anyways. I would have liked to see some other gen Pokemon but they do have the Alola remakes of the first gen which is pretty cool. Also like most Pokemon games all the NPCs look the same. Also I think that we should have been allowed to take eevee or pikachu out of party if we wanted. I think the price is a little high for the game and I would recommend if you have trouble with finances to maybe buy it when the price goes down.

Overall though I was able to immerse myself in this Pokemon world. If you are someone who hates the Pokemon go mechanics or someone who has to have that battle sequence during the capturing then this game is not for you and it was never marketed towards you. If you love Pokemon and love the Kanto region then give this game a try you might enjoy it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is an absolute delight of a game to play. It breathes fresh life into an otherwise relatively consistent franchise, in terms of mechanics. As someone who's played Pokémon as a child and was getting tired with newer iterations, such as Sun and Moon, this game gives new ideas a chance like other games haven't.

While some would argue that they dislike the changes made to the game, compared to previous Pokémon titles, I feel as if most of the changes, that aren't simply just dropped content add simplicity and fun to the game. Reinvented Pokémon catching, while lacking battling, allows for much more fun, laid back catching of Pokémon. Personally, I've spent hours just catching Pokémon because of how much the more Pokémon GO like wild encounter system simplifies and takes tediousness out of the process. Battling wild Pokémon, while seemingly integral to a Pokémon game, now feels as if it was never needed. Battling trainers fills the void of wanting to battle, where wild Pokémon previously would just be used as a way to level up your current party. As well, the motion controls when catching wild Pokémon add a bit of goofy fun, where you'd think you'd be annoyed. On top of all this, the new way wild Pokémon are shown actively on the map, instead of randomly spawning battles in tall grass adds a sense of wonder to a Pokémon game that I feel everyone who's played these games since childhood would love.

The only place I take issue with Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is where there's a lack of content. While this game is meant to play off of the original generation of Pokémon games, where not all features or Pokémon were around, the game has a very odd pick and choose mindset about what is or isn't in the game. A few examples of things from newer generations that are left in would be riding Pokémon, newer types and moves from current generations, or mega evolutions. But some things that just seem odd are confusingly not in the game. Pokémon can no longer hold items, similar to generation one, there's some missing online features such as wonder trade, only Pokémon from generation 1 can be caught in this game (excluding Alolan forms and a Pokémon GO specific Pokémon). I assume the lack of Pokémon is due to time constraints and working on the next years Pokémon game, but it would've been nice to at least have been able to transfer Pokémon from previous generations to this game.

Overall, Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is a great game to play, and anyone who's a fan of the series should be able to appreciate what it has to offer, even if it may be missing some things you would have enjoyed. Regardless of the games shortcomings, the way the game adds a freshness to long-standing mechanics makes it more enjoyable to me, than it has been in a while.

I was obsessed with Pokemon yellow when i was 12/13. I loved this game - and it took my right back to my teenage roots (pun intended). It looks beautiful, the battle system is cool and fresh. I didn't think i would be a fan of the new encounter system but i like not getting caught up with a zubat every few steps. I also enjoy the new way of catching the Pokemon - but wish they had kept the battle pre-catch going. It's weird having to grind by catching instead of battling. The music was a large orchestra arrangement of all of the original tracks, most of which sounded great, some of which didn’t really hit home.
Some cons: having only the original 151 plus 2 more is a bit disappointing, however if generation 8 looks anything like this, then I won’t have this problem. I wish there was more to do in the post game, especially since I payed $60 for it instead of the usual $40. Sure the master trainers are cool but grinding to face them was a chore. I just did 6 so I could face red. Because it was a remake of yellow and not leaf green or fire red, I do miss the Orange Island plotline we got. Post game, dragonite, charizard and Aryodactal can be riden in the sky and can fly over obsivcals. This makes the game must faster, however, you need to get off to interact with anything including going into houses and going across routes with a gate. This means you need to open your menu, select return to poke ball, land, go to where you need to go, open your menu back up and select follow just to move around quicker.

Surprises: not being able to evolve your starter never bothered me because of how strong they actually are. I boxed my eevee pretty early on and took him back out for some post game and he was still kicking ass. I thought I would hate the wild catching system but I actually kind of love it. Sure the motion controls are not great but this style of Pokémon was decent. Seeing the Pokémon in the overworld felt nice and gave more personality to the world you’re traveling in. I thought I would hate the rival but I didn’t. And I didn’t miss held items and abilities as much as I thought I would.

Biggest complaint would be the Pokéball plus being the only method to catch mew. I’m not spending $50 just for mew

It's a good game even if you have been playing Pokémon since gen 1. Also, we veterans are not the target of this games. All the negative scores comes from haters complaining about it being the Kanto from gen1 again for what I have read. Let's Go has some good innovations that could be implemented in future "main" games but they won't because of haters not being fair with this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I started with red version and played through the series until heart gold and soul silver then life got in the way. I came back to the series with pokemon go and have played halfway through let's go. I love complex games with a lot of depth. Yes, this scaled down, only because it's a remake of a basic game, but it keeps me interested and I haven't gotten bored.

These "hardcore fans" leaving biased reviews is ridiculous.

This is a fancy remake of Pokemon yellow. If that's not your cup of tea, stop here and don't play it. Of course this remake has some extra features that emphasizes catching pokemon in a "Gotta catch 'em all" game. I welcome it.

The catching mechanic is basically the only thing brought over from pokemon GO and it is a welcome change to grinding out battling and catching wild pokemon in other versions. The catching mechanic makes grinding more enjoyable. I am able to level up my pokemon as well as look for the pokemon with stats and natures to actually build up a strong party. To what end? Personal fulfillment and online battles. I haven't battled online so I am unsure what that is exactly like, I just know there is no global ranking.

From what I have seen in the game so far, your items like calcium, hp up, pp up, iron, etc have all been replace by different candies obtained from catching pokemon and transferring to professor oak. This replaces grinding to collect money to buy those items with grinding to catch pokemon.

Due to the catching mechanic and the desire to build a great team and just find shiny and strong pokemon, i often find myself distracted from the main story to catch pokemon in a random spot.

Pokemon appearing in the overworld is awesome.

Yes, I do miss hold items and breeding, but there are still natures and an abundance of pokeballs. The mechanics of leveling pokemon as you look for your specific natures and IV's replaces the need for breeding. It's wonderful multitasking.

I haven't finished the game so I only the post game content involves the master trainers which would have you level up each species to battle and claim the title of master trainer for that species. But it doesn't sound lacking. I hear people still say crystal's battle tower is still the best post game content.

I do wish the region was larger, but it's a remake of yellow so what more can you expect? As much as I wish for a bigger region, online matchmaking (still not sure how online battles work), hold items, etc. This is a wonderful remake of pokemon yellow with new features that I hope make it into the 2019 gen. Pokemon Let's go is a testing ground to refresh the pokemon series. Nintendo chose a solid platform to test new mechanics. I call it a successful test.

Overall, I did have a blast playing Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. I did like visiting all the cities of the original Pokémon games again and seeing all the original Pokémon. However, I really did not like how they changed how you capture Pokémon and I did not like the setup of the Pokémon boxes. For those who want to play this game for nostalgia reasons, I would recommend waiting until a sale comes out before purchasing. For newcomers to Pokémon, this is a really good introduction into the world of Kanto.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
