Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition / Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition

This is a great port of two very influential western RPGs, though newcomers may be put off by the old school design.

Fans of real role-playing really ought to acquire this, since it offers the best of both worlds on the scale of CRPGs.

Two great games that come to Nintendo Switch in improved editions and with more content but that does not make use of the touch function of the console thus hindering the gameplay.

This is another strong showing from Beamdog that sees a real odd couple of classics in the best shape they've maybe ever been, coupled with a control system designed for consoles that makes them as effortless to play on the move as they are sat at a keyboard and mouse. Icewind Dale is probably as good as old-school combat ever got and is still an absolute gem for fans of epic dungeon-crawling who don't mind the brutal difficulty involved in getting the hang of its action. Planescape: Torment, on the other hand, is a narrative masterclass which still feels fresh as a daisy and is as bizarre, funny and endlessly replayable as it's ever been. Together, these two make for a pretty essential addition to your Switch's RPG library.

Even after 20 years these games still hold some magic and these Enhanced Editions on the Nintendo Switch are faithful and competent ports.

Once you get past the dated graphics, slow RPG gameplay, and wonky (but improved) PC-to-console controls, you will find one of the better stories available to you in gaming in each of these titles. A worthy place for fans of the original releases to return, as well as for those paper-and-pencil gaming aficionados.

Two great games, particularly the first one, now available on new platforms. Control-wise, it doesn’t play as well as on PC, but they’re still enjoyable on consoles.

Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment are two games from a previous generation that now get the right to a Nintendo Switch release. While both titles included in this package feature a marvelous plot and many hours of content for a very customizable experience, its visual execution has aged rather poorly and the level of difficulty will put off many newcomers.
