Picross S2 perfectly encapsulates the alluring one more go feeling that so many like-minded puzzle games aspire for, and does so with such masterful implementation. Jupiter show they are still the master of their craft, as they have always been in their 25 years of releasing Picross titles across Nintendo's hardware.

Whether you’re new to Picross, or you’ve played it since the Game Boy days, Jupiter’s excellent and refined gameplay experience in Picross S2 is the perfect way to unwind and relax in short or long bursts. The vast amount of content available between the regular, Mega and Clip Picross modes are also very impressive - and will have you deciphering pictures for hours upon hours, either solo or with a friend.

More picross action. It’s a puzzle game, it’s well executed, controls do what they need to do.

Compared to Picross S, it's definitely more of the same, but that's a great thing! The only thing that Picross S2 really adds over Picross SCompared to Picross S, it's definitely more of the same, but that's a great thing! The only thing that Picross S2 really adds over Picross S is the Clip Picross mode, but there are also 300 new Picross and Mega Picross puzzles. It really doesn't need to add much because Picross S is already a great game, and after finishing it, you'll probably be hunger for more Picross puzzles.

As someone who enjoys logic puzzles, I find this game to be a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. If you also enjoy logic puzzles, you should definitely pick this up. However, if you haven't enjoyed logic puzzles in the past, I doubt this game will change that for you. If you're unsure, you might as well try the demo for Picross S4 first, as that will give you a good idea of what to expect from pretty much every game in the series.

I do recommend starting with Picross S, but it doesn't really matter that much. My main reasoning is that each new installment adds a little extra content or a new mode, and you'll probably enjoy the more simplistic Picross S if you play that before something like Picross S4, which has color picross added in. Again, the fact that future games add more content does not mean that this is a bad game. It's still very enjoyable and well worth the money. One could easily approach 100 hours of gameplay for only $9. That's quite a deal, in my book!
