Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs successfully manages to give a new twist to the classic Pac-Man gameplay formula, with ideas like invading the mazes of other players, making it a fresh experience. The problem is that it severely lacks content and without offline modes, the party will be probably shorter than expected for most players.

Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is rather boring. There’s no adrenaline rush when I manage to make it into the final groups of players. The cosmetics are fine, but I didn’t feel a drive to unlock specific maze designs or items for my Pac-Man. While it is designed to feel competitive, it seemed like more people I faced were more concerned with dealing with the ghosts and eating pellets, rather than gunning for the top spot in any way. I honestly had the most fun when I’d play through Elimination or Ranked like I would any other Pac-Man game, without engaging in maze invasions, which probably defeated the point of a battle royale.

PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs continues with the usual competitive essence but with deficiencies. It is a game that entertains for a while especially with the invasion mechanics but does not have enough content to keep the player entertained.

I had fun with PAC-MAN Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs when I first started playing. However, the longer I played, the more bored I got.

We would only ever recommend Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs to Pac-Man diehards at its launch price point. In fact, given the fate of its Pac-Man 99 forebear, we would be hesitant to open our wallets for it at all, because we doubt it will have much longevity if it isn’t eventually made free-to-play. Though it introduces a cool idea or two, multiplayer Pac-Man was done better by its predecessors and, as it stands, its price tag is tough to justify.
