i read reviews from other platforms before getting this for the Switch (no, I hadn't played it on those platforms). As such, I cannot compare it to those versions. Hoping an update fixes this, otherwise I'd say just stick to the versions available on tablets. Expand

OTTTD is a quality example of the tower defence genre by SMG Studio, and it is no wonder that the original release of OTTTD scored favourably enough that a Switch port, years later, would make sense. Is it essential? No, this genre was never about being “essential,” – it’s tailored right down to the core as a simple way of passing time with accessible challenge. But SMG Studio has nailed that brief, and this game does deserve to be considered among the very greats of the genre.

The game’s RPG mechanics, unique art style, and variety in towers, enemy types, and weapons, make for a satisfying tower-defence experience. OTTTD is a must-buy for fans of the genre.

I had an enjoyable time playing OTTTD despite its sometimes clumsy controls and overwhelming battles. Skirmishes can often be difficult to focus on and it’s hard to make a comeback if you don’t get a good start, but matches are quick enough that starting again doesn’t feel like such a setback. And the added depth the game’s mechanics gives players plenty of options to play with. If you’re up for a tower defence game that freshens up the formula, OTTTD could be for you.
