The remastered version of Onimusha 2 Samurai's Destiny for the Nintendo Switch comes almost flawlessly to the platform. Full of extras, quality of life improvements, and so much more, this game is a must-buy for hack and slash gamers out there who wish for a hard but fair technical game.

What a lovely game it is. Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny has its faults, but it aged really well and it’s been a blast replaying a PS2 title I truly loved back in the day. A welcome throwback to a time where publishers would put out some genuine curios, ones that stayed with me for life.

If you’re new and love challenging hack-and-slash adventures, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is worth a look -- it’ll just take time to acclimate to the controls and combat. With a little luck, players might be seeing more from the Onimusha series soon.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is a strong, worthy successor to the original that is now at its absolute best on Switch. Some of it feels dated by modern standards, with fixed camera angles that arguably should have been ditched back in 2002, but it still feels incredibly fun regardless. The remaster adds in a bunch of quality-of-life updates and extras that both longtime fans and newcomers will appreciate, but ultimately, this is a faithful revival of one of the PS2's very best games. Now the patient wait for Onimusha 3 begins.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster brings the PS2 classic to modern platforms with sharper visuals, smoother controls, and quality-of-life tweaks. It stays true to the original’s samurai-demon slashing roots while adding widescreen support, instant weapon switching, and brutal new difficulty modes. A faithful restoration with just enough polish. Unless you were itching for something a bit more…

The remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny brings original PS2 game to modern standards with improved graphics and controls. It doesn't re-invent the game, but instead ensures it's kept alive for future generations. This remaster won't win over many new gamers, but will be welcomed of fans of the series. In a way, this is what Remasters are meant to do: preserve and future-proof what otherwise might have been lost forever.

The Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster is a valuable one, especially with Way of the Sword on the horizon. There are a lot of gameplay elements that help it stand out, like the ally system and how Oni abilities and adventure elements are tied to progression. The quality of life adjustments are welcome as well. However, the campy nature of the story might not be for everyone, and it isn’t the prettiest remaster I’ve seen in the past few years. It’s well worth playing if you love the series and Capcom’s work, but it might not be for everyone.
