I had a blast going through the entire package again and will continue to bust it out when someone tells me they haven't played it yet.

There's no question that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a good game, and being able to play it on the go is a huge advantage, but that portability doesn’t necessarily cancel out the lack of new content.

Even if Nintendo had not sent me the game for free, I probably would have paid $60 for it day one. Then I would have 100%’d it in several feverish hours, in portable mode, on my sofa, in the dark, late at night, with the sound off. As my sweat cooled I would have likely begun brainstorming a New New Super Mario Bros.

Iteration at its best isn’t merely refinement or polish; it’s a game in conversation with all of its predecessors, and through these games, a dialogue between the creators and players. It is the culmination and collaboration all at once. New Super Mario Bros. U may not be everyone’s No. 1 Mario game of all time, but I have no doubt it will remind every fan of what makes their favorite special. [Polygon Recommends]

If the wacky Odyssey has left you in the mood for some classic Mario, this is the perfect thing.

With two full adventures packed with secrets, a brilliantly difficult Challenges mode and thoroughly entertaining multiplayer, it’ll take you ages to see everything on offer here. It may not be ‘New’, but it’s certainly ‘Super’.

Also, why can't you port the data from the Wii U version if you already owned it? This means I have to pay $60 for basically the same game. Also, Peachette? Seriously Nintendo? Full Review »

This is a port of an easy and boring game made for children from a series that panders to the 2D nostalgia fanboys 'nuff said.

This is a port of an easy and boring game made for children from a series that panders to the 2D nostalgia fanboys 'nuff said.
What's more insulting is the fact it's a damn port instead of being a new game. Also since we got two new uninteresting playable characters, why can't we get Wario, Daisy, Waluigi or even DK? Even Super Mario Run the mobile app has more playable characters and it includes Peach as a playable character.
    Avoid at all costs!
