Monster Prom was already one of the best dating simulators out there. And since this XXL version includes the Second Term DLC, which features bonus characters and tonnes of extra events, it’s better than ever. If you’re looking for some crude, ridiculous fun then look no further. While Monster Prom XXL might feel like it’s working against you sometimes, getting rejected and having to try again is just part of the fun.

Monster Prom: XXL may seem pretty strange, but it’s precisely this strangeness that elevates it to greatness. It was clearly designed with multiplayer in mind, as this mode stands as the strongest experience in the game. Even in single-player though, Monster Prom is sure to capture you with its quick wit and charming art style. There’s a lot to love here, and I hope that there’s a place in your heart for that special monster.

Some will find Monster Prom: XXL rubs them the wrong way – the outcome of the game often feels quite random – but it's about the journey and sharing its eccentricity with your friends. It doesn't rival the Jackbox series, but it captures a similar and very welcome vibe which could turn it into a monster hit.

Monster Prom: XXL is a much-needed change from your average party game and something that can liven up about any get together (whenever get-togethers can happen again). Luckily it also has an online multiplayer. Creative characters, funny dialogue and random happenstance make each play through a strange experience. If there was a wider variety of art and a bit more polish put into the interfaces this would be a perfect party pick for a night with friends. It’s still enjoyable, but there’s a lot I’d love to see improved upon as well.

Monster Prom XXL is not a game for everyone, but if you’re down for some hardcore monster dating with a penchant for foul-mouthed humor and goofiness, it’s incredible. I love the way it takes a visual novel and dating sim and transforms it into a party game. Some rough edges might be present in the interface, but Monster Prom is a riotously good time.

This is the kind of game that 14 year old boys would find funny. Still, l the game is entertaining enough. Full Review »
