This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So,Minecraft...What can i say? Everyone knows this succesful piece of dirt block! But anyways,we're not here to talk about Minecraft. On another note,we're here to talk about Minecraft Story Mode, another way for Telltale to push their boundaries forward. I'm going to recap everything,so spoilers ahehad. We are off to a rocky start with Episode 1 - The Order Of The Stone, where we have a giant introduction to all the charachters in the game, played by a handsome bunch of people, like Patton Oswalt (Agents Of SHIELD),Ashley Johnson (The Last Of Us) etc,if not also the start to this perilous adventure. The start is pretty good,we have no boring moments, the action is well-crafted and the dialogue is done pretty well. Then it's on Episode 2 - Assembly Required where things go off-hills. After choosing, you'll go with Axel at BoomTown,or with Olivia on Redstonia,to reassemble the Order Of The Stone. What makes it kinda boring is the fact that it's easy all-around. No hard puzzles,no exciting action sequences...Nothing. Oh,it's also short in terms of runtime:32 minutes if i remember correctly. In Episode 3 -The Last Place You Look, things get interesting. After having not-stopped Ivor,it's a journey to The End to find Soren, the last member of The Order. And from here, you can clearly see that they're taking the source material that makes Minecraft awesome. Then, the original adventure comes to an end with Episode 4 - A Block And A Hard Place. The Witherstorm, after a fake death, gets duplicated in 3 monstrosities,is still in search of the amulet,so the gang doesn't know what to do. But after they find Ivor, with a solution on his hands,it's yet again, another journey for our friends to find this Enchantement Book. From Episode 3 on out, you'll basicaly have journies all around, but Episode 4 doesn't fail to be a tricky episode, with tons of puzzles and an emotional ending. Episode 5 - Order Up is the start of a series of new adventures for Jesse,Petra,Lukas and Ivor. Basically Episode 5 is The LEGO Movie, where there's the message that you can't build anything on Sky City until the end, where everyone's on the ground (safe and sound) and everyone can do anything they want to. It's up to Jesse to decide if the people of Sky City are free to build everything they want or not. Then,we're off to Episode 6 - A Portal To Mystery (AKA the giant paycheck for Youtubers like DanTDM,StampyCat,CaptainSparklez etc.) . The story is a giant 'What if Haunted Mansion was a Mystery movie?',since the group enters in this mysterious dimension where we have a 'Haunted Mansion'-like house with a guy called The White Pumpkin, who's haunting this mansion. Nothing new, bad,or even interesting at all. We are close to the end with Episode 7 - Access Denied, where our group of heroes is still searching the way home, and they enter in this 'Terminator 2'-like dimension, where we have a computer (called PAMA) dominating all-over the village. Just like Episode 6,you know the drill. Episode 8 - A Journey's End is a satisfying,if not also rewarding ending to this game, with our group having to deal with a giant 'server' (sort of) to get back home. Not only does it take games like Spleef so well, but it also makes you truly feel the anger for the enemies,if not also having a well-done story. In a whole,it's a true enjoyment for Minecraft fans,if not also gamers everywhere. The controls in the game are impressive. Sure,it is an interactive movie, but watching this 'transition' of buttons and touch screen makes the game a lot easier to play. There's nothing to say about the graphics, since it's Minecraft, and everything has to look blocky (except the books...). In the end,Minecraft Story Mode The Complete Adventure is able to please every Nintendo Switch gamer, with innovative comands,a story that's here and there, and the blocky fun that Minecraft always has Expand

Sure some people hate on this game but to me its one of the best story driven games ever, It has a lot to love here 1. a well written story with quirky writing, a unique art style, and super likable characters. If you have a switch and you want to play one visual novel, Make it this one!

The first 4 episodes were amazing. i would rate a 10 if it was just those 4. it had reached the end of its natural story, despite a few unanswered questions. the rest of the episodes were great, but felt like they were tacked on without any prior introduction. you should still buy them all though. also, the purely linear nature of the game is very overwhelming. i would have loved toThe first 4 episodes were amazing. i would rate a 10 if it was just those 4. it had reached the end of its natural story, despite a few unanswered questions. the rest of the episodes were great, but felt like they were tacked on without any prior introduction. you should still buy them all though. also, the purely linear nature of the game is very overwhelming. i would have loved to explore many areas more, like Ender Con city. A nice story and interesting characters. I played through both season 1 and 2 before telltale games shut down. As long as you're expecting this to be a telltale style game and not a Minecraft style game you're in for a fun ride. Just don't expect it to be played at all like Minecraft.

The story is amazing. Lots of jokes, family friendly, very big fun. Highly recommend both sesions.

I seriously don't get the bad ratings. As a minecraft player since 2012, I see this as a great game. People are against this for the dumbest of reasons. We get that Minecraft doesn't have a story but that doesn't mean you should hate on it for the title. And besides, the game isn't about the lore or story of Minecraft at all. it's about the adventure of some lovable characters in a mysterious world, toying with mysterious powers. You could view this as the official minecraft the movie but you get to make decisions and you choose the plot, meaning its even better than a minecraft movie.

Now you guys might be saying, "But you can't change the plot of the story! Therefore it is false advertising and a terrible game!" C'mon. Do you really think that it's possible to make a game where you can change the WHOLE PLOT. Of course it's impossible to dictate the story's direction but your decisions still affect the story in tremendous ways(i.e. choosing to save petra or gabriel or choosing whose armor you take dictating who survives and who dies). Additionally, your choices build a personality for your character which is reflected in later episodes(as seen through the, so and so will remember that). I would know because I've played this game 3-4 times now from start to finish just to see that my choices truly affected the story and they did.

People hate on this game because they are against giving minecraft a story. But in reality, this isn't the story of minecraft, it's the story of a few adventurers in the minecraft world. The creators will remain unknown and big lore details aren't really revealed.

TLDR: User input MATTERS in this game. The characters are GOOD. The story is amazing. The villains are truly amazing. The design and concept is truly original and non-cliche(other than the cast being losers but I'm fine with that). There IS a plot, unlike what many people claim. The characters are LOVABLE if you give them a chance. This game is truly a Masterpiece.

I went into this game thinking I was going to hate it. But after playing more of it I got really invested in the characters. They're engaging and they all have distinct personalities. Some of them even get character development, which caught me off guard due to the simplicity of the story. It's a fun adventure with emotional moments and some genuinely funny comedy. I think people get hung up on the fact that it's supposed to be a Minecraft game, but I don't think that's what they were going for. It's much more enjoyable if you play it as a story-based adventure game that just happens to have Minecraft mechanics (which, I may add, they make good use of gameplay-wise). Overall, it's a fun story with likable characters, built off of mechanics integral to Minecraft gameplay. It isn't for everyone, but if you don't take it too seriously and go into it with an open mind I think you'll have a good time. Expand

There are a lot of epic scenes in this cartoon/videogame too. Too bad it's disconnected now because I love this game and I still have to play season 2. My favorite episode is episode six. THEY HAVE DANTDM IN IT PLAYING AS HIMSELF!! Ok, I got a bit carried away but this game is amazing. It brings me back a lot of memories too. I used to play this back in school with my friend a long time ago. Minecraft story mode has amazing voice actors and characters, amazing graphics, really good stories and is literally my childhood. It's sad to see it has been disconnected but I will always remember it. Also at least it's on netflix interactive which is cool but I want season 2 to come to netflix. Anyways that's my review. The first season of Minecraft: Story Mode is a good opener of what is to come. Despite a somewhat passive gameplay and some fluidity breaks, this is a pleasant and alluring experience that will appeal to players beyond the Minecraft fan base, with extra points going for the game's excellent voice work.

Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure is the first adventure game from Telltale to come to the Switch. It is the ultimate package of the narrative-driven take on the famous block-building franchise. With an enjoyable D&D-like story, it is an enjoyable experience, in which your choices seems to matter - at least as long as you allow yourself to play along with the magician trick.

If it was not for the amusing script, well realised Minecraft setting, likeable characters, and moderately engaging storyline(s), then this would have been an unmitigated disaster as Telltale continues to take the point-and-click genre in a direction that no point-and-click fan wants, removing all the enjoyable elements from the classics and awkwardly wedging in action elements instead. Minecraft: Story Mode - The Complete Adventure, thankfully, has enough engaging story content to keep gamers satisfied, some fantastic production values on the voice acting front, and heaps of content packed in thanks to all eight episodes being included. Hopes are high for Season Two to improve upon the shortcomings here.
