A well-crafted Metroidvania, which pretty much plays like a 2D Metroid infused with DNA of late Mega Man titles. There's four different planets to visit, each with it's distinctive settings, but still strong variance in the areas. Bossfights all need different tactical approaches and are one of the highlights in the game, along with the exploration - there's a ton of cleverly hidden and interesting upgrades to find.

Beating the game for the first time without a guide took me about 18 hours, so the game's length is pretty decent too, while not overstaying it's welcome. I can wholeheartedly recommend MindSeize!

PS: I played the original PC version back in February and the polish since then is simply incredible, kudos to the devs for improving so much on an already decent game!

Awesome animations, pixelart direction quality S+++, animations, atmosphere, huge bosses,... is a true pure Super Metroid inspired game, not cloned, with brush strokes from Rockman. It could be perfectly on top 10 of all-time (excluding Metroid and Castlevania Series) MV games :)

Solid Metroidvania game. The difficulty is up to my liking, and for those who prefer an easier go, there is an "Easy mode" you can enable in the settings to adjust the gameplay to your preference.

The music is a mix of tame techno/electro music, fitting the setting of the game. It's not overbearing, and keeps it smooth for the gameplay. The gameplay is super smooth, and as you get

The gameplay is super smooth, and as you get more and more powers, you can sprint through the different sections of the game. There is also a lot of shortcuts that allows you to move even faster from section to section.

Level design is smart. You get a few hints that something might be hidden in different places, but cannot obviously get there yet. A lot of backtracking involved, but makes it worthwhile to go back to earlier levels when you get new powers.

The story is decent, lost me a bit on it. I believe it would be more for personal preference, but I wanted to mention it.

Overall, super solid game. Had loads of fun playing the few hours I have played so far, and will be spending more time on it in the very near future. Definitely a contender for a 100% completion from me.

A pacey, exciting game, MindSeize excels when it pits you one-on-one against one of its varied, aggressive bosses, but there are no elements of this little gem that aren't up to scratch. You're constantly moving forward and getting better at it, and the level design is good stuff. We don't feel like the Metroidvania backtracking really adds much to the experience, but it didn't spoil our fun. What we have here, ultimately, is a fantastic action game that's been forced into the shape of a markedly less brilliant Metroidvania, a format that doesn't play to the game's strengths. So, very good indeed, but could definitely have been a classic with a little more structure.

MindSeize will certainly scratch the itch if you’re in the market for a decent Metroidvania game with a focus on challenging combat and enjoyable exploration. While somewhat marred by a clichéd and clumsily-executed story and some occasionally-frustrating gameplay moments, it’s nonetheless a solid offering with beautiful visuals that will appeal to fans of the classics.
